Five: Ana
October 19, 1491
Nearly a month had passed since our meeting with the Mikaelson brothers. And we had not left their side since.
They seemed to enjoy our company as well, spending hours talking into the night with us.
And Katerina seemed to enjoy it most of all. She fluttered her eyelashes every time one of the brothers crossed our path and giggled along and gasped with astonishment with every one of their many amazing stories.
Her shameless flirting almost made me want to scold her, but every time I came close, her eyes flashed dangerously and I remembered exactly what Katerina Petrova could do.
Tonight, we were sitting by the fire of the parlor, waiting for the Mikaelson brothers.
They had gone off on some sort of exhibition, as they often did, without telling us where or why. They had promised they would be back by tonight, though, and Katerina and I waited anxiously for their return.
Katerina shifted awkwardly in her seat, her dress straining against her growing stomach.
"This dress is much too tight." she muttered.
"You need to possess some larger and better fitting clothes." I offered.
After all, she couldn't fit in her little teases of dresses with a child growing in her stomach.
She glared at me.
"My sizes of dresses are perfectly fine, Ana. This one just doesn't seems to have a seam tied too tight."
I shook my head.
"Katerina, you're having a child. You cannot stop pretending it's not happening."
"Watch me." she hissed, leaning closer.
But before the conversation could continue to get more vile, the door opened and closed, and in waltzed Klaus and Elijah.
"We're having a party!" Klaus announced cheerfully.
Elijah, much more solemn, offered me a small smile, eyes sparkling in the light of the fire.
I felt heat rushing to my cheeks and turned toward the fire, reprimanding myself for acting so unlike myself.
I saw Katerina out of the corner of my eye, shooting daggers at me through my eyes.
But instead of threatening me, she turned towards Klaus.
"A party?" she asked, with too much joy in her voice for classic Katerina.
I turned to Klaus as well, trying to revert my eyes from Elijah.
Klaus nodded.
"And one of you will be my date."
I saw him looking at me, almost hopefully, and then Katerina giggled.
"Why, of course, Klaus. Why didn't you ask earlier?"
An extremely quick flash of disappointment fell across Klaus' face, but was soon replaced by a wide smile.
"It would be my honor." he said, bowing so far that his hair almost touch the ground.
Katerina by now was giggling up a storm, and even that sent a smile to my face.
"Come, I'll accompany you to bed." Klaus said, offering his arm to Katerina. She took it and left the room with Klaus, but not before blowing a kiss to Elijah.
I couldn't help but feel an odd feeling in my chest as Elijah smiled and returned the gesture.
He turned to me.
"I'll ask you if you'd like to accompany me, Ana." Elijah said, turning to me and smiling. Again, I felt my cheeks flush, and this time, I swore I could hear my heart beating as loudly as a drum.
"I would love to." I said, but it came out as more of a squeak.
Elijah, in his soft, proper ways, did not take my arm to escort me to my room, rather walked beside me, offering me nothing but that smile.
When we reached my room, I sighed with relief, hoping that all these feelings would just go away when Elijah left, and I could sort them out on my own.
"Goodnight, Ana." he said softly.
He took my hand and kissed it softly, and all I could do was smile as he left.
So this is just kind of a filler because I haven't updated in a little while. The party scene will be the next chapter, and it might be Ana's chapter again, because she's got the boys crushing on her big time. So yeah, the chapters might go Ana, Ana, Katerina, Ana, so she'll have one more chapter than Katerina.
