Chapter 7 (Edited)
"Elijah Mikaelson"
Present Day
Katherine was still in front of me, safe inside the tomb.
"I didn't know" Katherine said slowly. "And it wasn't my intention to turn Trevor against you, friend"
I picked at my nails, bored "I don't care anymore. Good thing I didn't purchase anything with him right? Less disappointment to deal with it" I shrugged, looking up "Nik was right. He wasn't worthy of my time" Katherine tensed at the name of my cousin making me chuckle, tilting my head aside sadistically, "Speaking of Nik..."
"You won't tell him about my whereabouts, right?" Katherine made her eyes wide pleadingly.
I stared at her, "You know I have to, friend. He knows when we lie" I whispered tauntingly. "I was going to dodge around the subject before he asked, only to help my friend. But, you stopped being one the moment you betrayed me and made him put a dagger in my heart" I pointed at her.
"It was me or you, Klary" Katherine defended her actions, "I was protecting myself! You'd know that"
I stopped in front of her, careful of not passing through the barrier of where the trap began, "Not at the expenses of putting a target on your back. It's a shame, really. I did like you" I feigned sadness, "But, you were just a pawn, only useful for one thing"
"You know self-preservation" Katherine eyed me carefully. "All of your family does"
I pulled out a wooden stake out of my jacket, showing it to her, "If it were for me, this would have been in your heart ages ago" I said coldly
"What's stopping you?" Katherine challenged, voice wavering a bit. "Afraid of Klaus?"
I smirked, fingers lightly caressing the wood "No. The temptation is still there" I shrugged with the stake, "But, I've always loved a good torture" I smiled casually. "He's coming"
Katherine's eyes widened, "Klaus?" She asked in a frightened tone
"No. Santa" I replied sarcastically, "Of course. And Elijah too"
Katherine shook her head, calling out to me as I turned to leave, "Wait!" I stopped but didn't turn, titling my head showing her I was listening "You should know there's a new doppelganger who will be useful to break the curse. And I know where the moonstone is"
"There's no doppelganger" I turned to face her, innocently. "You were the last one. Unless you had a child before turning"
Katherine smiled smugly, "Oh there is. Her name's Elena Gilbert. I came here to town to fetch her and the moonstone to deliver them to your family as a peace offering"
"You know there wouldn't have been any peace, right?" I furrowed my eyebrows in amusement. "Thanks to your stunt, we'd had to wait five more centuries. I'd say for you to enjoy your last peaceful days before tormenting begins" I gave her a wide grin
"Elijah wouldn't approve" Katherine told me, hopefully. "He's the Noble one"
I let out a laugh, "Oh, darling. He's the less happy with you. I'd say he's the most angry at your actions. Three enemies in one night, Kitty" I sing sang, smirking, "You are truly something"
"What about the other ingredients for the ritual?" Katherine, again stopped me, desperately. I rolled my eyes, "I have the vampire and the werewolf. I really want your forgiveness, dear. I mean it" I furrowed my eyebrows, "I want Klaus to break his curse. I do. I respect all of you"
"If you did, you wouldn't have ran" I said coldly, walking to her and stopping right at the entrance. "You'd have faced me when I found you again 150 years ago. I'd only had my revenge and let you go but you made me chase you again, you made Klaus chase you again. You disrespected us and made us angry" I took a deep breath, "It won't happen again, love" my eyes met her's. It was a moment late when she fell upon the realization of what I was about to do. "I hate you, Katherine" our pupils dilated as I began my compulsion "And you'll stay here trapped even if by any chance the spell of this tomb it's lifted. You'll stay here as the good vampire you are and wait for me to get you. Or either Elijah or Klaus. They'll be the only ones besides me who can break this compulsion. I'm sure they'll be pleased to see you again" I finished with a smile, backing away.
Katherine blinked, staring at me shocked. "Please..."
I didn't respond to her pleading, walking away from the tomb, feeling as if something was raging inside of me. My other side clawing it's way out to rip Katherine's head off. I swallowed the feeling, rushing away before I slipped and let it out.
I needed to be calm for my meeting with Elijah.

Elijah was on his way, calling to inform me he had met with Rose and Trevor. They apparently had kidnapped Elena Gilbert for a show of forgiveness. Made me giddy as it wasn't Katherine who did it.
I knew part of our evening would revolve about Elena, and possibly Trevor, knowing my cousin. He knew how I felt around the guy and I knew he felt happy I had showed human emotions. I dreaded that part. I never liked talking about my emotions, it made me remember about my human days; I wasn't human anymore. I didn't want to remember those times.
There was a knock at the door, chuckling when I saw it was exactly 2 pm. The hour we had agreed on meeting. I had let my auburn -almost entirely red- hair fall in its natural waves behind my back. I never liked using a lot of make up so I only put on mascara and a lipgloss.
I rushed to the door, wearing a smile as I opened it to find my cousin with one of his usual black suits and tie.
"Elijah" I greeted happily, moving aside and welcoming him inside.
"Klarysse. Good to see you again" Elijah smiled warmly, taking a step forward only to be stopped by the invisible barrier. He looked down with a crease on his eyebrows, looking at me questionably. "I didn't know there were humans owning this house, dear"
I mentally facepalmed, smiling sheepishly. Of course, Amanda. "Well, this is awkward" I murmured. Elijah only twitched his lips in amusement. I looked behind me, "Amanda, can you come here?"
Amanda walked closer, walking out of the kitchen with a small smile. Being compelled didn't earn I was going to test her harshly, she was allowed to fulfill her human needs. She had her freedom until I actually needed her. Having her here was only for protection. As long as she obeyed without asking questions or babbling about me being inhuman, I was okay with her doing whatever she did on her free time.
Amanda smiled at us, looking at Elijah briefly "Everything alright, sweetheart?"
"Remember I told you about my cousin visiting?" I asked patiently, glancing between her and Elijah
I waited for her to remember my compulsion, nodding eagerly in remembrance "Of course" she smiled, looking at Elijah. "Is he your cousin?"
Elijah gave her a polite smile, turning awkward after a few seconds as she continued staring at him, glancing at me expectantly.
I slowly turned to face Amanda, voice calm and cold "Amanda"
Amanda snapped her head to me at the warning on my voice, blushing. "I'm sorry" she apologized to Elijah, glancing at me. I forced a smile, gesturing at Elijah "Please come in"
Elijah nodded gratefully, looking as if he could feel the barrier lifting, slowly stepping inside.
Amanda beamed, looking between us "Enjoy your visit, Mr. Mikaelson" she sad before retreating to the kitchen.
I smiled at Elijah, wrapping my arms around him in a hug. He returned immediately the embrace, sighing softly. It had been around ten years since the last time I saw him personally.
"It's good to see you here, Lijah" I told him, pulling away.
Elijah smiled, looking around my house "Me too, Klary" he offered me his arm, "Shall we?"
I placed my hand on the crock of his forearm smiling, "We shall"

"You compelled yourself a human to blend. That's smart" Elijah commented casually
We were at a restaurant just outside of town. We didn't want anyone seeing us together to not raise suspicion.
I sipped my glass of champagne, "Believe it or not, I was trying to fit in as human. While also looking for the rest of the ingredients for the ritual"
Elijah looked as if he wanted to say something, but changed his mind, "I see"
"I called you yesterday" I placed my glass on the table, slowly. "You didn't pick up. That's not like you"
"I ran into some complications" Elijah replied, nursing his own champagne slowly. I lightly furrowed my eyebrow at the cryptic answer, "That's why I couldn't answer. I apologize"
"May I know about those complications?" I asked curiously, tilting my head aside
Elijah pursed his lips in a thin line, not answering for a few seconds, "I don't think that's a good idea. It's for the best"
I narrowed my eyes, pursing my lips as my fist resting on my lap clenched and unclenched for a few seconds, anger flaring up for a few seconds before it calmed down. That wasn't me. I know it
"How did your meeting with Rosemary go?" I asked instead under the careful eye of Elijah. He knew. He knew about my alter ego and he knew he had to be careful when there were signs of her showing up
"It went as expected" Elijah answered and hesitated for a moment, "Trevor was there as well"
"Yes, I know. You told me" I said, briefly looking away. I cursed mentally at the way my heart skipped a beat. Even after years and after his betrayal, my heart felt as if it hadn't happened. Indeed I had felt something for him. Traitorous heart "The one who let Katerina go and betrayed us" I said coldly, trying to shove away those feelings, failing on mentioning I had had a part on that. That I had told Trevor to help Katerina. I hadn't expected him for him to turn against me. He was to take her into hiding and wait for me. She was supposed to continue being human. It was when I found out she had made Trevor changed the plans when I had snapped. I tried to kill her myself, only to be found by Nik, who stop me with a dagger in my heart. Until now, I never knew how Katherine had managed to turn him against me.
"Yes" Elijah said cautiously, "With Rosemary"
"The one who turned her" I said in disgust, scrunching my nose. "I admire though, her loyalty"
Elijah's lips twitched slightly, sighing "The type of loyalty everyone seeks"
"What did they want, Elijah?" I asked, ignoring the slight ache of my chest, again remembering Trevor
Elijah's expression turned stoic, not showing any emotion "Apologizing for failing and betraying us"
I scoffed, "500 years late, darlings" I murmured, looking at Elijah curiously "And? Did you?"
Elijah looked away, "Apologies weren't necessary" he said quietly. I frowned. He looked at me, "Trevor's dead, Klarysse"
I froze, staring at Elijah's slightly guilty expression "What?" I asked in almost a whisper, clearing my throat "And Rose?"
"I spared her life" Elijah answered, watching me carefully. I looked at him coldly, "Rose was only loyal to him, helping him. Trevor acted first, Klarysse"
Oh, the temptation on telling him it hadn't been his idea. It had been mine. Trevor was dead because of me. Aurora was right. Everyone I loved died because of me. My love was tainted and dangerous.
"Right" I cleared my throat, blinking a couple of times shoving my emotions on the back of my mind "How did he die?"
"His head" Elijah frowned slightly, "I gather you two were close. More than just friendly"
"That doesn't justify his actions" I said coldly, "I told him once to never double cross us. He ignored my warning. He deserved what came to him"
Elijah looked at me disapprovingly. And I knew it was because I wasn't showing emotions. But he should know. Emotions are weakness, Niklaus taught me that with time. I learned it the hard way
I tapped my fingers lightly on my glass, "Katerina is in town" I informed him
Elijah looked at me, "When?"
"A few days ago" I replied, knowing I couldn't lie to him when being asked something directly "She's trapped at the vampire tomb near the Fell remains"
Elijah hummed thoughtfully, "You paid her a visit? And she's still alive?" He looked slightly amused. I scowled "Not usual for you, Klarysse"
"Sometimes is good to see a good torture than being the one inflicting it" I said casually. "Though I'm still debating which one of you two would be the one inflicting a worse torture" I tilted my head
Elijah shifted uncomfortably, not answering "What about the moonstone?"
I smirked at his silence, "Katerina told me it's here in town, along with a new Petrova Doppelgänger"
"I know" Elijah furrowed his brow. "I hadn't believed Rosemary when she informed me. Not until I saw her with my own eyes"
I nodded in understanding. "I get the feeling. I met the girl. Elena, I think. I at first thought she was Katerina" I explained, sighing. "Her heart beating in her chest certainly shocked me"
"Did you expose yourself at her?" Elijah asked
I made a face, looking down "Maybe"
Elijah sighed, shaking his head. "She probably had a child out of wedlock. Did you know?"
I looked offended, "Of course not. If I were to know, I would have paid attention to where that baby went and kept an eye on the family, until the day the Doppelgänger was born. You know that"
Elijah knew how protective I was regarding our family. They welcomed me in their family when my mother passed away and my father Erik, their father Mikael's brother had died by an illness that no one had been able to cure. Not even Ayana, a witch friend of our family. They treated me as one of their own, another sister. And that's why I was protective of my new family and that heightened when I became a vampire. It was one my weaknesses, family. Even Niklaus who never failed to dagger me time to time when I seemed to fail him.
Elijah relaxed slightly, nodding "I know you would" he told me making me relax as well. I knew he understood me. We were always doing whatever it took to protect our family.
"We just need to get the moonstone and the doppelgänger for the ritual" I said, clapping my hands together
Elijah tilted his head, lowering his eyes "About that..." he trailed off. I looked up at his hesitance, confused. "I'm not sure we should help Niklaus with the ritual" he confessed
I looked surprised "Why not?"
"Allowing him have all that power?" Elijah shook his head, "He's powerful enough without them, Klary. And he killed the rest of our family"
"He daggered them. Not killed them, Elijah" I said, shocked for hearing him talking like that. "Explain what you mean"
Elijah sighed, "The last time when the three of us were together and you angered him and I helped you escape before he daggered you, remember that time?"
I shrugged, "Briefly. We both stopped being on his circle of trust. I for angering him and you for standing up for me" I sighed. "What about it?"
"He confessed we weren't going to see the others never again" Elijah told me. I shook my head in denial. "He told me that, Klarysse. He got rid of them. Klaus killed our family. We're the only ones standing. What if he kill us as well? We'll be giving him more power to do so"
"Why does it feel you're suggesting to kill him?" I asked, closing my eyes
"Because that's exactly what I'm saying" Elijah said quietly. "What's stopping him from killing us as well?"
I shook my head. I didn't want to think about it. "You're talking about killing your brother"
"Who killed my siblings. Your cousins" Elijah reminded me, "And who won't hesitate to kill us as well. We have to stop him"
He had a point. But, killing someone of my family? Killing my cousin? I'm not as cold as I thought I was, then.
I looked up at Elijah, who looked determined. He had lost everything. His siblings, Niklaus the once sweet brother. We only had each other and he was right. We had to do something. We had to stop Niklaus before he killed us.
And if that meant killing him. Then so be it.
