Chapter Three
"Good morning!" Amalia said cheerfully, yanking off Wanda's blanket. The teenager groaned, and reached back for blanket.
"I was sleeping peacefully for once." She grumbled, sitting up, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
"Well then, I'm sorry. But it's over now." Amalia unscrewed the top of an applesauce pouch she had accidentally brought from home. But she now realized she could use it to her advantage. "Drink this."
Wanda scrunched her nose. "What is it?"
"Just drink it."
Wanda did as she was told, gagging when she was done. "What WAS that?!"
Amalia smirked. "Applesauce. Congrats, you just ate something."
"I will never trust you again, you traitor," Wanda said, glaring.
Amalia shrugged. "It had to be done. Now, stop pouting. It's time for you to brush your teeth, comb your hair, and change clothes."
"How about no."
"I didn't ask a question. You have to be able to take care of yourself. Even your niece and nephews can brush their teeth every morning."
"Their twin didn't just die." Wanda's voice caught on the last word. Tears welled in her eyes and started to run down her face.
Amalia wrapped her arms around her younger sister. "I know that this is tough, but you'll get through it, I promise."
"That is a lie."
"No, it's not." She sighed. "Wanda, I need you to get yourself dressed. I- you need to see someone who can help you sort through all of this. As much as I love to, it's too much for just me."
"You want me to see a therapist." Anger was obvious in her voice.
"Sis, don't take it the wrong way. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with you! I'm saying that I'm not exactly an expert at this."
"I don't want to see a therapist, Amalia!" She threw a ball of red energy at the wall.
Amalia instinctively jerked back. That was going to take some serious getting used to. "I know you don't. But it helps, I promise. Did you think that I just sat around and sulked when Máma and Táta died? I didn't. I got help, and it helped. It was hard at first, but it helped me sort my emotions and problems out."
"How long would I have to talk everyday?" Wanda asked quietly.
"About an hour."
"How often?"
"Three days a week to start with."
"I'll try."
"What?" Amalia was surprised.
"I said that I'll give it a shot. But if it doesn't do anything, I'm not doing it anymore."
"Deal. Now, be a big girl and go get ready."
Wanda got to her feet, walking over to the bathroom. She put her hand on the knob, and suddenly froze. "I'll have to leave this room."
"Yeah," Amalia said sheepishly.
Wanda backed up, shaking her head. "I can't. I can't."
"You can and you will. I know I'm being insensitive, but you really need to do this. They're the Avengers, Wanda. You're one of them now. They're not going to bite you."
Wanda looked skeptical.
"How about this? If you leave the room and go to therapy all the days scheduled this week, I'll take you home with me this weekend. The only people you'll have to tolerate are your niece and nephews. And your brother in law, I suppose."
Wanda looked as if she was considering it. "What if I get mad and use my powers by accident? What if I hurt them?"
"You won't."
"But what if I do?"
"We'll cross that bridge if we come to it." She put her hand on her hip. "Now, Miss Wanda, get your butt in that bathroom and get ready. I'll help you with your hair, if you want."
"Maybe."
"Ok."
About five minutes later, Amalia heard the shower cut on. About an hour later, Wanda walked out of the bathroom with a towel around her shoulders, her hair brushed out nicely.
"You even took a shower! Go, Wanda! I'm so proud of you! Look at you go, you queen!"
Wanda cracked a smile. "I guess I did alright."
"You did AMAZING!"
"I guess I did."
"Yeah, you did! Where's the sassy little sister I know?"
"Right here."
Amalia tilted her head to the side. "I don't hear her."
"That's because you have terrible hearing."
"THERE she is!"
"You're annoying."
"YOU'RE annoying."
"No, you are."
"I'm pretty sure it's you."
"Fine, I am, but I'm the QUEEN of annoying. You're just a peasant."
"How dare you talk to your older sister like that?!"
"I already said you're a peasant. What more needs to be said? You're stupider than I thought."
Amalia smacked her with a pillow. "Let's go!"
"Fine."
The sisters walked out of the room, headed downstairs. Luckily for Wanda, none of the other Avengers were in the main room, they were all outside training.
Amalia dropped Wanda off at the therapist's room, after being greeted with the therapist's perky smile and "Hello, Wanda!"
Amalia smiled as the door closed. 'She'll be alright.' She thought confidently, walking away.
