Chapter One

Amalia ran her fingers through her freshly curled brown locks. She looked in the mirror, her baby blue eyes staring back at her. She sighed, as she once again thought that she looked like a combination of the twins. She missed Pietro, and was so worried about Wanda.

She left the bathroom, and walked to the kitchen. It was nice to be back home in New York State. She wished that the twins had come with her and her husband, Jon, when they moved to Jon's hometown from Novi Grad. Instead they had run away, not wanting to be a burden on the young family. Instead they stayed in Sokovia. Instead they got experimented only an evil organization and got superpowers. Instead, instead, instead. Pietro probably would be alive if they hadn't taken off! But the past couldn't change, no matter how much as Amalia wanted it to.

Jon wrapped his arms around her, kissing the top of her head. "I love you," He whispered in her ear as he noticed her sadly staring at a picture of the twins when they were twelve.

He got a slight smile in return. "I love you, too." Then her face saddened again. "Jon, you do realize that it's been two weeks since Sokovia, right? That I could get a call anytime saying that I need to come help with Wanda? That I could be gone from anywhere from a week to a couple of months if I do?"

"I know, Sweetheart. But I can take care of the kids. I am their father after all. I can be a true man and take care of my children while you take care of your little sister."

"I know," She sighed. "I just want you and the kids to be happy."

"And we will be. Don't worry about us. And for all we know, Wanda is doing fine."

"I doubt it," Amalia muttered.

Jon gently shoved her. "She's a tough girl, Molly. Focus on the kids for now."

As soon as the words left his mouth, Wyatt came barreling in. "I'm hungry!"

"Good, cuz I set up a breakfast buffet!"

"Really?! You did! You're the best dad ever!" He ran over to the counter grabbing a plate.

"Don't get more than you can stomach, Wyatt!" Amalia warned him.

"Ok, Mama!"

Magda walked in, rubbing her eyes with one hand, gripping Erik's hand with the other.

Erik noticed the food and broke away from his big sister, running over to the counter. He couldn't reach. Amalia chuckled and got him and Magda each a plate, handing it to them. They hurried to the table, where their parents soon joined them.

Sure enough, just like she was expecting, Amalia's phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Hello. This is Mrs. Maximoff-Novak, correct?" A man, who sounded like Director Fury said.

"Correct."

"The Avengers request for you to come assist with your sister, Ms. Maximoff."

"Alright. When-"

"It would be greatly appreciated if you can come straightaway, ma'am. Bring enough for at least a couple of weeks. I'll send you the coordinates, if you would like."

"Yes please, sir, thank you. I'm on my way."

"Good." The line went dead.

"You have to leave?" Jon asked.

Amalia nodded. "Yes."

"Alrighty then. Go pack."

"Where are you going, Mommy?" Erik asked her.

"I have to go help take care your Teta* Wanda for a few weeks. I know it's a long time, but your aunt is very sick, and I'm her big sister, so it's my job to help her."

"But you'll be back, right?" Wyatt asked.

She smiled at him. "Of course I will, baby. Don't you worry." She got up and quickly packed a suitcase. As she walked to the door, her three children swarmed her, grabbing onto her legs. Jon gave her one last kiss before gently pulling each kid off and restraining them while Amalia walked out the door. "I'll call tonight!" She quickly closed it, running to the car, and getting in.

She settled into the seat, turning on the car. She adjusted the mirror and drove away, not letting herself look back at the house. 'They'll be fine,' She reassured herself. 'They have Jon. Wanda needs me more, and I have to be there for her.'

Almost two hours later, she arrived at the facility. It took another hour just to get into the grounds. Then, when she finally made it past the inside security too, she hurried to where she had been told to meet Captain Rodgers when she got the location. It only took a few minutes to get there.

The blond man greeted her with a smile. "It's good to see you. I'm sorry we had to call you away from your kids, but-"

"Wanda needs me, I know." Amalia gave him a smile. "Where is she?"

"I'll take you to her." He lead her up a flight of steps, through what was clearly the Avengers' hangout area, and down a hallway, finally arriving at the door. He knocked on it.

"Go away," A girl's voice said. It was scratchy, like she had been crying, or hadn't talked in a while. Probably both.

"I don't think I will, Wanda," Amalia called through the door.

"YOU can come in."

Amalia heard the door unlock, and she gently twisted the knob. She slipped into the room, carefully closing the door behind her. It was fairly dark in the room, the windows with the blinds partially closed providing the only light. Her sister looked worse than she'd ever seen her.

"Ahoj*, Wanda."
