"Tell everyone I wasn't feeling well and that I went home from school" Elena said. "I can't believe I'm agreeing to this" Caroline said. "By the way have you seen Olivia, I haven't seen her all day" Caroline asked.

"No, she might be preparing for the full moon" Elena said.

"Yeah maybe" Caroline said. "I'm a terrible liar" Caroline said going back to their previous subject. "Keep Stefan busy I don't want him knowing what I'm up to" Elena said.

"I'm even worse at duplicity and you know this" Caroline said. "You managed to keep me occupied when Katherine paid Stefan a visit" Elena said.

"Yeah, because she threatened me not that I'm saying you should use that as a tactic its Stefan's gonna see right through me" Caroline said.

"Caroline as my friend do you promise or not" Elena asked. "You had to break out the girlfriend code" Caroline said, and Elena gave Caroline a look. "Okay I promise" Caroline said.

"Okay" Elena said. "Why don't you want Stefan to know" Caroline asked. "Because he would never be okay with me doing this" Elena said going down the steps with Caroline. 

"Are you sure you wanna do this" Caroline asked. "Yes, I'm sure she's the only one who knows the truth about Klaus the only one who can tell me how to stop him" Elena said.

"But you're asking the truth from someone who's probably never given it" Caroline said. "Are you sure about this" Caroline asked.

"Yes, I can't just sit back and wait I have to know Caroline" Elena said. Caroline looked at the stone before looking at Elena. "Please" Elena said.

Caroline had moved the stone and went back to Elena. "Katherine" Elena said. "I'll be okay from here" Elena told Caroline and then Katherine appeared. "Hello Elena" Katherine said. "You come to watch me wither away" Katherine asked.

"Goodbye Caroline" Katherine said to Caroline. "As long as I stay on this side of the door, she can't hurt me please" Elena said and Caroline left. "Stefan know your here" Katherine asked.

"I brought you some things" Elena said. "You came to bribe me" Katherine said. "What is it that you want" Katherine asked.

"I want you to tell me about Klaus" Elena said. "Hmm you've been busy" Katherine said. "I also brought you this it's your family history" Elena said pulling out the large book.

"It says in here that the family line ended with you obviously that's not true" Elena said. "You think that if you brought me some family keepsake I'd open up" Katherine said.

"I also brought you this" Elena said showing Katherine a bottle of blood. Katherine went to speed at her but was blocked by the tomb.

"You don't look so good" Elena said. "How long before your body shuts down ten twenty years" Elena asked. "Must be painful to desiccate and mummify I can't even imagine" Elena said.

Katherine and Elena sat down while Elena poured some blood and used a stick to push it to Katherine. Katherine took it and drank it.

"You have the Petrova fire" Katherine said. "More blood" Elena asked using the stick to push the cup she poured the blood in to her. "It's a long story Klaus and I goes all the way back to England 1492 after I left Bulgaria" Katherine said and Elena poured more blood using the stick to push it to her.

"Or was thrown out" Katherine said and drank the blood. "Thrown out" Elena asked. "My family your true ancestors they disowned me my indiscretions were not tolerated at that time I had a baby out of wedlock the shame" Katherine said.

"It was kept secret" Elena said. "Mm-hmm my baby was given away I was banished to England, and I had to learn to adjust, it was there that I caught the eye of a nobleman named Klaus I was taken with him at first till I found out what he was and what he wanted from me and then I ran" Katherine said.

"So, what did Klaus want" Elena asked. "Same thing that he'll want from you he wants to break the curse" Katherine said.

"By sacrificing the Petrova doppelgänger" Elena said. "He wanted to drain every single drop of blood from my body" Katherine said.

Elena moved the blood to Katherine with the stick. "What does the Petrova bloodline have to do with Klaus" Elena asked. "It's really tedious but" Katherine said and drank the blood.

"The curse was bound by the sacrifice of Petrova blood witches are crafty with their spells the doppelgänger was created as a way to be able to undo the spell once the doppelgänger reappeared the curse can be broken" Katherine said.

"So, you ran before he killed you" Elena said. "Something like that" Katherine said.

"Rose never ended up taking you back to Klaus did she" Elena asked.

"No but not because she had a change of heart" Katherine said.

"You killed yourself" Elena asked. "Klaus needed a human doppelgänger as a vampire I was no longer any use to him" Katherine said.

"But it didn't work you didn't really escape you've been running ever since" Elena said.

"I underestimated his spirit for vengeance living out of a suitcase is better than dying so that you could have your blood spilled over some silly little rock" Katherine said. "What's wrong afraid I'm right" Katherine asked.

"You don't wanna die there's another way out" Katherine said and made herself bled as Elena saw.

"You better hurry your opportunity is going, going, going" Katherine said and then she healed. "And gone" Katherine said. "I made the other choice" Katherine said.

"Rose and Trevor spent the last 500 years running because you used them Trevor just got killed" Elena said.

"Never thought he would've lasted that long" Katherine said. "You don't even care that you ruined their lives" Elena said.

"I was looking out for myself Elena I will always look out for myself if your smart you'll do the same" Katherine said.

"So how much of your little story is true" Elena asked. "I have no reason to lie Elena I have no reason to do anything but sit here and read and rot" Katherine said.

"Okay assuming it's even partially true that's the reason why you came back isn't it because you wanted to be the one to hand me over to Klaus" Elena said.

"Five hundred years on the run I figured maybe he'd be willing to strike a deal" Katherine said. "So, you got Mason Lockwood, Olivia's father to find you the moonstone" Elena said.

"Right again" Katherine said. "What else is needed to break the curse" Elena asked. "Mm look who's getting smarter" Katherine said.

"It's not just me or the moonstone is it otherwise there would be no reason to trigger Tyler Lockwood's curse" Elena said. "Don't forget about Olivia I had compelled her friend till she killed her better two than one just in case" Katherine told Elena.

"Witches and spells so many ingredients so many people to sacrifice" Katherine said.

"So, you need a werewolf" Elena said. "Believe it or not they're hard to come by" Katherine said. "What else" Elena asked.

"A witch to do the spell mine bailed but Bonnie will do just fine" Katherine said.

"What else" Elena asked. "A vampire" Katherine said. "Caroline" Elena said. "Could've been anyone I suppose but I like the poetry of Caroline" Katherine said.

"So, you were gonna just hand us all over to be killed" Elena said. "Better you die than I" Katherine said and gone back in the tomb.

Elena grabbed her stuff when Stefan walked in. "Elena" Stefan said. "Stefan what are you doing here" Elena asked.

"I could ask you the same question" Stefan said. "Caroline told you" Elena said.

"No, she kept your secret, but it didn't take long for me to figure out what was so important that you'd have to keep it from me" Stefan said.

"I knew that you'd stop me" Elena said. "Listen to me whatever she said to you is a lie do not listen to her she is a liar Elena" Stefan said.

"What if she isn't" Elena asked. "You didn't hear what she said" Elena said.

"You don't have to worry I'm not gonna let anything happen to you" Stefan said. "That's the problem you won't but you'll die trying" Elena said. "How is that any better" Elena asked. 

"There's nothing you can do Stefan" Katherine said making her appearance known as they looked. "I haven't even told you the best part of the story" Katherine said.

"He killed them my entire family just to get back at me for running whatever you do to escape Klaus he will get his vengeance on your friends your family on anyone that you've ever loved" Katherine said.

"No look at me no do not listen to her okay" Stefan said. "Always the protector but even you must realize that she's doomed there's nothing you can do to stop it unless of course you have this" Katherine said and held out the moonstone.

"What" Elena said. "Oh no there it is that's the ultimate lie isn't it you spun this whole thing so that we would have to get the stone from you didn't you" Stefan asked.

"I didn't spin anything Stefan it's the truth" Katherine said. "No let me guess you wanna trade that stone for your freedom hmm you manipulative psychotic" Stefan said.

"My freedom that's where your wrong Stefan I don't want my freedom because when Klaus shows up to kill us all and he will I'll be in the tomb where no vampire will enter because they can't get out, I'll be the safest psychotic in town" Katherine said.

"I am curious about one thing though" Katherine said. "Does Olivia know that Damon killed her father" Katherine asked and they stayed silent.

"Oh, she doesn't well for your sake I hope she doesn't find out cause if she does, she'll never forgive you" Katherine said and went deeper in the tomb.
