OO2. UNFINISHED BUSINESS

❝ UNFINISHED BUSINESS. ❞

"I think they're pretty nice."
Poet helped Vanya stand on her own, guiding her through where the rest of the Umbrella Academy and her nephew headed at. She could hear Diego's loud thoughts about her whereabouts, his words getting louder and louder when she and Vanya got closer.
"Everyone likes you so I'm not surprised," Vanya groaned, holding on to her side while her fingers slightly massaged her back. "Though, don't mention it to Diego or Luther, they might lose it."
"Fine, I won't."
Making it to a beautiful spot, Vanya sighed in relief at coming to see her siblings and Paris unharmed. "Oh. Thank God you're alive."
"You guys okay?" Allison asked and Poet sent her a thumbs up while Diego held his arms opened to engulf her in them. Paris stood next to her, clearly not wanting to be close to Five.
"Apparently, so is Ben," Klaus replied to Vanya's comment.
Poet made sure to check up on Diego beside her and he let her, his eyes glancing at her and his siblings. Paris quickly sped around, healing everyone's pained hits and wounds while leaving Five alone. Klaus noticed, glancing at the others who noticed.
"Yeah," Allison slowly let out, replying to Klaus. "And he's a complete dickhead."
"They're all dickheads," Diego commented, agreeing with his sister before glancing at Poet and smiling a little. "Thank you, sweets. I'm okay."
"Dickheads who can fight," Luther corrected.
"Okay," Five began, clearly annoyed with the repetition of words and confused on why Paris was acting the way he was. He had an idea and he already knew it was that when he felt Poet's eyes glaring at the back of his head, "next person to say "dickhead" is getting a punch to the throat."
Poet could simply smile when everyone said the word they were threatened not to say, feeling the tension slight lessen.
"Hey," Diego talked to Klaus, leading Poet to sit down on the bench of the table Klaus was resting at, "did Dad tell you why he was calling them his kids?"
"He sure did!" Klaus chuckled. "You ready?" Everyone listened intensely and he took that as his cue to continue. "Dad was so repulsed by us back in Texas, that he adopted an entirely different group of children just so that he didn't have to raise us."
"That's just peak Dad," Diego said, sitting down on the table behind Klaus, who now sat on the bench. while his hand held Poet's tightly, just like he has been doing for the entirety of the day.
"Isn't it?" Luther questioned almost sarcastically.
"So he just didn't want us anymore?" Vanya asked. Poet could hear all of their thoughts, Luther the most loudest one out of all of them.
"Did he ever?" Allison said.
"See?" Luther continued. "I told you we shouldn't have asked him for help in '63."
"I think you're all missing the big picture here," Five spoke. Everyone turned to look at him. "If Dad didn't adopt us as kids, he changed the timeline. So who knows what else is different now. We are the only ones harmed, not the Capulets since they didn't have any close contact with their own family."
"Shouldn't you know?" Allison emphasized on the 'you' while gesturing to him.
"Sorry, Allison," Five began, "but it might take me more than 20 minutes and a traumatic brain injury to figure this all out. Is that okay with you?"
"No, actually, it's not," Allison replied.
Poet could feel the arguments about to start, and she listened to Vanya who clearly didn't want her siblings to argue. "Guys, look, it's fine. We still have the Commission's briefcase, so worst case, we can just go back in time and fix it.
"Oh, this is gonna be good," Poet mumbled under her breath once she read Five's mind, finding amusement though it did suck what that meant for the Umbrella Academy.
Everyone else agreed with Vanya, having forgotten about the briefcase for a second.
Five sighed. "Okay. There are two problems with that statement." He stood up. "First off—"
"Here we go."
"Time travel is complicated, people," his words received some sarcastic remarks from Diego, who was clearly impatient. "And secondly... I no longer have the briefcase."
Those words caused Allison to stand up. "Five, where the hell is the briefcase?"
When no answer came out of his mouth, they all simultaneously sighed. As selfish as it sounded, the Capulets didn't need to worry. Their present selves weren't affected as much as the Hargreeves, so they mindlessly walked with them to wherever they're heading.
As they received some stares, Poet spoke. "Everyone is staring."
"What are we even doing?" Allison asked with an annoyed tone.
"Ruminating."
"Why is everyone staring at us?" Klaus questioned next, bringing up Poet's comment. They all noticed more stares and they're dark clothing while everyone else wore lighter clothing compared to them.
"Because we look like the damn Village People who just lost a fight," Diego replied, stealing Klaus's hat, which clearly started a playful fight between them.
"You know what?" Allison caught their attention. "I need to go find Claire. I will catch up with you guys later."
"Hey, Allison, no," both Vanya and Poet immediately stopped her from walking any further away from them. "First, let's get somewhere safe, clean up those cuts, and then we'll go find her."
"Man, I hate those guys," Luther randomly sad before they all noticed the amount of buildings with the Sparrows' faces. "Look at 'em with their... stupid smug..."
At having trouble, Klaus and Paris stood close to Luther once he couldn't find his words, encouraging him that he could do it. But, all Luther could let out was the word "smugness."
"You tried at least," Paris patted Luther's shoulder.
"Keep working on it, big guy," Klaus sighed. "You'll land one, eventually."
"No he won't," Paris commented and Klaus looked at him.
"Yes he can."
Before their bickering continued, Allison eyed her brothers. "But honestly, what are we doing? We can't stand here bleeding out in this park."
"I mean," Poet finally spoke, "we can scare people."
"As much as that would sound fun," Diego briefly smiled at his girlfriend, "we better gear up fast before they come for round two."
"What makes you think they'll come after us?" Vanya asked.
"From our point of view," Poet answered, "you did break into their homes, insulted them, and insulted them... again, and even fought them. I would come back to finish the job."
Klaus agreed, "...bust up all their nice antiques and shit."
"Yeah," Luther glared at the faces of the Sparrows. "I don't think the crime-fighting... super nerds are gonna let that go."
"Let's just think of some place off the radar where we can lie low and not draw attention," Five suggested.
"What kind of a weird-ass place are we not gonna draw attention?"
As everyone turned to look at Klaus as he spun around, he stopped when he noticed everyone's eyes on him. He thought about it before a smile broke on his face and he looked at Paris. Knowing what he was going to ask, the boy said a quick "be right back" and sped away, coming seconds later with a sigh.
"I found it."

"This place is intensely creepy and weird."
They all stood in the middle of the lobby of the hotel named Hotel Obsidian. Mysterious name, but everyone did glance at them. Oddly enough, they looked away as if this was normal.
"Oh, Hotel Obsidian," Klaus said in a dreamy-like tone. "I missed you, you old slutty old dame. Absorb her. Absorb her into your bosom. You know, 'cause back in her heyday, she played host to world leaders. Roosevelt, Gandhi, Stalin, Gorbachev, Castro, King Olaf of Norway, one of the Kim Jongs, Tito, Dalai Lama, Elvia, and not one but two Kardashians. Wouldn't that—Where you going?"
Allison walked away. "I gotta make a call."
Poet pat his shoulder. "I liked the fact. Be my tour guide."
"Thank you," Klaus smiled at her warmly before continuing. "Nowadays, she's just a flophouse, a party house for those of us not looking to be judge by society's rules and norms."
"You mean, a place to hide?" Luther asked.
"Exactly! It's perfect!"
Poet turned to look at her side as Klaus continued to go on about the place, and immediately went back to Diego's side at noticing a man staring at them but pretending to be interested in his newspaper. At noticing her behavior, he immediately sent an intense glare towards the man before sending another to a couple nearby.
"I may have questions."
"Yeah, me too," Luther agreed.
"This place is weird."
Of course, the payment wasn't easy as neither of them had money. But, thankfully, Poet did have some valuable jewelry that allowed them to get more than 3 rooms.
Diego and Poet were paired, of course, Paris had his own room (he was still ignoring Five), Allison and Vanya wanted to share rooms, Luther and Klaus shared one, and Five got his own.
"I have a plan," Diego stopped them, rushing up the stairs as he let go of Poet's hand. She let him go and watched. "We attack the Sparrows, and we take back our house, and then we punch Dad a bit until he admits that we're better and he loves us more. Boom! Done! We're wasting time."
Everyone begrudgingly went inside the elevator, except Poet and Paris who still continued to be silent, watching it all unfold.
"Relax," Klaus placed a hand on his brother's shoulder. "Don't sweat it, man. Those shit birds are staying put for a while. I bet they're as wiped as we are."
"Really?"
"Yeah. I mean, kicking our asses looked exhausting."
As the elevator doors closed, Poet gave her boyfriend a reassuring smile. "Hey, let's relax a little to get back our energy, okay?" She wrapped her hands around his arm. "I don't want you falling on your ass, peaches."
Diego slightly chuckled. "Okay, okay." He smiled at her before glancing at Paris. "You two have been oddly quiet. Especially you, kid. What's wrong?"
"Five is still in love with a mannequin," Paris simply replied as if it was nothing. "Maybe it's for the better. His mental age is 58 so it's obviously for the better."
"Hey, if you need to talk," Diego pat his shoulder, "I'm here, okay? Five can be an asshole at these type of things. So, we'll beat him up if you want us to."
Paris snorted. "I'm okay. Now let's go. I feel as old as you."
"Shut up."
But Poet looked around, wondering where her twin brother was at.
