CHAPTER SIX ━ NEW GIRLFRIEND? OR WHAT?

(chapter six.) new girlfriend? or what?
❝ ME? WITH HIM? HE WISHES. ❞

"STUDY HER. SHE'S BEEN GETTING WEAKER MORE AND NEEDS TO BE CHECKED ON."

Poet was on her knees, panting tiredly as she felt herself being moved by the doctors that kept a close eye on her. She was dragged to a room, where she kept hearing thumps on the wall next to her.

She was dropped on the floor, her body standing up carefully and weakly. She felt her breath coming out in short pants and her chest hurt too damn much. Her eyes were drooping but the scarlet color was glowing brightly. She felt an aching pain in her throat by all the screaming she did thanks to the beatings her parents gave her. It was a nightmare.

"Come on!" Her mother yelled. "Get E2 something to eat and drink so she can go back to training. Tell E1 for God's sake to stop glitching! Do something about it."

"We tried everything, Mrs. Capulet," a doctor fearfully let out, gulping as Poet's mom glared at him. "We have given him enough of everything. Nothing."

"Give them both pills," Poet's father said, watching as Poet dragged her nails on the cement floor in pain and to make herself feel something again. "If they don't take those pills, I don't care if you have to make them swallow it. Just do something so they could go back on the field and kill all of those people that dared to betray this company. Just give it to them."

"Yes, S-sir," the doctor said with a shaky voice. He walked away, two other doctors following after him. When the doctors were nowhere in sight and wet sure they couldn't be heard, the main doctor turned to look at the others behind him. "I need you both to make pills. Pills for the twins. Pills that will make both calm. Just make something the opposite of what the Capulets want."

"You want them to be nice?"

"It's better than those two ruining themselves by killing."

"Why are we here?" Poet asked Diego as soon as he parked in front of the place Five told Poet to meet him at. She felt guilty that she didn't meet up with him.

"There was a shooting here," Diego simply answered, getting out of the car to head towards the door of the place. Poet stared at him confusedly, staring at him from the window. He sighed, turning around to face her when he didn't hear her voice. He looked at her. "Come on!"

They walked inside Griddy's Doughnuts, bodies displayed everywhere. There was blood and glass and Poet gulped nervously when she reminisced thoughts of the past.

"I'm all up for..." She stopped for a moment, thinking for the right word, "investigating. But, isn't this illegal? I mean, we are in a crime scene."

"Would you believe me if I said I was a Detective?" Poet looked at him in the eye, hearing his voice through her head. She smirked softly at him and he looked away from her after knowing what she was doing.

"Your ex was a Detective?" Poet asked. "That's cool. I wanna see her kick your ass, to be honest. That would be a dream."

"Yeah, yeah," he waved her off before he saw her staring at the bodies of the men with such disgust and familiarity. "You've killed people, haven't you?"

"Parents thought it would do them justice," Poet answered, looking around before coming to see a woman hiding behind the counter. "They made my twin brother and me killers."

"Twin brother?" Diego questioned quietly just as Poet walked towards the woman shaken up.

"Hey," Poet said, startling the woman who was trying to process what she had seen. Poet knew the feeling. "It's fine, ma'am, we just need to know what happened?"

"I—I," the woman could only let out, choking back on a sob as she placed her hand on her mouth. Poet sighed, placing her hand secretly behind the woman's head and making Diego distract her. Poet felt the scarlet color falling from her fingertips and she saw a ball forming. She slowly sent it to the woman's head.

"What did you do?" Diego asked her. Poet shushed him, watching the woman breathe in and out slowly and calmly, her own eyes as scarlet as Poet's own. "What are you making her see?"

"Just something serene," the assistant answered before she took the ball out of the woman's mind and smiled at her innocently. The woman liked at them with a confused expression before she shook her head and told them everything.

"There was a man and his kid," the woman explained and Poet trailed her eyes over to the woman's name tag. Agnes. "The man got an éclair and the kid got a coffee. Black coffee."

"Ah shit," Poet let out before she heard multiple sirens. She turned to look at Diego and mumbled to him, "We need to go."

He nodded and with coming up with excuses to leave, they both hid as the police cars surrounded the place. Poet glared at Diego, who was looking around.

"This is your fault," Poet said. Diego rolled his eyes.

Just a few moments later, Diego decided to head out. Poet didn't want to but Diego kept telling her to go outside.

"No, we're gonna get caught," Poet told him. He gave her a look before grabbing her hand and taking her out with him. She immediately took out her wrist from Diego's grip, looking around. "We're gonna get caught in 3, 2, 1."

"No we're not—" Diego stopped himself when his eyes came upon Detective Patch. "Shit. Hang on. Let me—"

Diego was stopped due to the fact that Detective Patch tased him in the chest. She turned to look at Poet, raising her hands up.

"Hey, don't look at me," Poet started, pointing her chin at him, "he told me to come with him."

"And you did?"

"He has a very, very scary face."

They both looked down at Diego, who face planted on the floor. Detective Patch sighed, placing her hands on her hips.

"You wanna help me?" She asked, taking out cuffs. Poet grinned, nodding. With a chuckle, they both made Diego stand up as Detective Patch cuffed him. She turned to look at Poet, the girl looking around the crime scene. "Are you his new girlfriend or what?"

"Me? With him? He wishes," Poet answered. "I'm just his sister's assistant. I was taking a small nap before he woke me up and took me here. He's become my least favorite person for waking me up."

Detective Patch chuckled one more time before she turned to look at Diego with a stern face and a stern voice.

"You don't talk to my witnesses, understand?" Poet winced at her tone, following after the two.

"Let me catch you up to speed, Eudora," Diego only said. Poet turned to look at Detective Patch and Diego looked at her when she spoke.

"That's a nice, badass name," Poet complimented. Detective Patch thanked her and smiled at the girl, who then trailed behind the two to let them speak.

"Poet..." Poet looked up from her gaze on the floor. She looked around and didn't see anyone. She heard her name again being softly called and when she looked up yet again, there was a familiar white-haired man standing not so far away from her.

"Why are you doing this now, Julian?" Poet muttered to herself, rubbing her forehead before the Detective called out for her. She walked towards the woman, smiling a little.

"Yes, Detective Patch?"

"Your friend's in the police car," Poet looked over the woman's shoulder. "But, I want you to stay here."

"Why may I ask?"

"You give off this calming vibe," Detective Patch said. "Maybe you can interrogate the witness and just get more information out of her if you can."

Poet nodded, confusedly, following after the woman, who walked away.

But before Poet could head inside the restaurant, her eyes made contact with a woman in a suit and a man licking his ice cream. Poet couldn't help but feel uneasy.
