❝ YOU GOTTA SAVE THE WORLD! ❞

As Poet, Diego, Klaus, and Allison entered the elevator of the building that Vanya was held in, they impatiently waited as the elevator took them up.
"I hope we find Vanya in time," Allison breathed out, crossing her arms.
They stayed quiet for a bit until the elevator rumbled and started rattling. Poet felt Klaus clutch her hand and she held his hand just as tightly as he was gripping hers.
The elevator creaked, until it let out a sound and the doors opened. Immediately blasted with a surge of energy, they all grunted and gasped, though, they let out a small sigh of relief when Poet shielded them all with her powers.
Klaus was the one to peak his head out first, though Poet was the one who walked outside and saw a table nearby. She winced a bit at feeling Vanya's powers mixed with hers, a tingling sensation running up her arms and burning her. She ignored the feeling, though, and protected the others as much as she could, taking a hold of Klaus before he could fall on the floor since he was shot with electricity.
"Question, guys," he started once he sat next to Allison. "Who are we trying to save Vanya from?"
"FBI!"
"But if they're all sucking ceiling right now, why hasn't she stopped?"
There was an intense crackling noise and Poet noticed the bodies of some men on the ceiling with barely anything in their eye sockets.
"Ow," Poet winced when she felt a sharp pain in her head. "God... her thoughts... they're-they're too much."
The wind started to howl even louder and the electricity of the lights from above them started to sizzle. Diego wrapped an arm around his girlfriend's shoulder and held her tightly as she clutched her head with one hand and the other was protecting the three from Vanya's powers.
"Vanya's in the room at the end of the hall," Diego stated as he watched as Poet's shield around them disappeared for a millisecond.
"How do you propose we get to her?" Allison questioned.
"I haven't figured that one out yet."
"Look, clearly her powers can be damaging," Poet began, gesturing towards the dead bodies on the ceiling. "How about I go and help her?"
"No, you can die," Diego mumbled.
"You can count me out," Klaus commented and his siblings turned to look at him, his name falling out of Allison's lips. "What? You guys should save her. You're great at all the hero shit."
"Oh, Klaus!" Allison swatted him.
"Hey."
"Listen, listen," Klaus started to defend himself. "Vanya would understand 'cause she has realistic expectations of what I am. And what I am is sexy trash."
"You're a big pussy, that's what you are," Diego commented, receiving a slap in the back of the head by Poet who was patiently listening to what Klaus was saying.
"Guys, now is not the time."
"Why? Because I don't want to die? Who cares?" Klaus cried out. "And martyrs aren't around to enjoy the victory party 'cause they're dead!"
"You're going out there..." Diego grabbed him by the shirt.
"I'm not! Go away!"
"You want me to go?" Poet questioned her friend from beside her as they ignored the men arguing.
"I'll go," Allison nodded. "Protect me, please."
"Got it."
Poet groaned a bit at moving and stuck her hands out, a scarlet shield surrounding her friends body. But since Poet wasn't defending herself, she was starting to bleed from her nose and felt the pain in her body.
"Allison!" She yelled as soon as the other two from beside her tried stopping their sister. "I can't hold on much longer. You have to come back!"
"I have to stop her, Poet!" Allison yelled back, watching as the shield protecting her left for a brief second before it fully enveloped her body again. She turned to face the light. "Vanya! Vanya!"
"She's remembering everything," Poet said, closing her eyes, a bunch of memories coursing through her brain. "Allison! Come back, please."
But before she could say anything, Vanya's powers had struck Allison hard and made her go flying back. She slid on the floor until her back made contact with the desk and Poet coughed, her nose bleeding even harder and skin turning pale before she laid down beside Diego and Klaus, heart hammering against her chest.
"Hey, hey, hey," Diego leaned down, gently patting her cheek. "Can you hear me?"
"Yeah," Poet coughed out. "But, I'm too weak. My powers aren't working."
"It's okay," Diego breathed out, kissing her forehead. He turned to face his brother. "Alright. I'm going."
"No, wait, wait, wait, wait," Klaus stopped him as soon as Diego was about to go after making sure Poet was in a comfortable position.
"What?" Diego asked him.
"If you don't make it back," Klaus started, "there's one thing that I need to tell you."
"I don't have time for this."
"Please."
"What?"
With a trembling voice, Klaus glanced at Poet before turning to look back at his brother. "You look like Antonio Banderas with the long hair. I just thought you should know."
Diego looked at him for a second. "Thanks, man."
While grunting, Diego now headed towards the light coming from his sister. Klaus laid down beside Poet and watched her raise her fingers. She sat up a bit and pushed Diego with her powers, pushed him until he was close enough by a hose.
"Klaus!" He yelled over his shoulder. "I'm not gonna make it and neither is Poet. It's up to you buddy! You gotta save the word!"
"No, Diego, that's a terrible idea!" Klaus yelled back, covering his ears. But his words fell to deaf ears and Diego was out, unconscious once he slid back next to Allison's own unconscious body.
"Okay, Klaus," Poet heard the man speak to himself. "You can do this. You fought in Vietnam. You survived a family of seven. And you once wore a sarong to a fraternity party and got a shitload of numbers."
Poet panted quietly, sitting up while holding her chest. She sniffed and Klaus stared at her again. "I wouldn't leave you alone, babe." She chuckled softly, coughing as blood came out of her mouth. "I'll push you enough until you reach the door. I'll make myself stay awake and stronger for you, okay? You got this."
"Okay," Klaus mumbled, eyebrows furrowed together.
Poet nodded and he watched with the usual awe—every time he saw her using her powers—as she grunted a bit at feeling more energy escaping her body. She smiled a bit as Klaus nodded appreciatively at her and he grabbed the hose Diego had left for him to grab.
Klaus's ears started to bleed, but he continued going, straining a bit. Poet clenched her teeth and breathed in and out, gulping harshly as she kept her focus on the long-haired man.
"Don't give up, Poet," she told herself. "Don't."
She kept repeating those words in her head, repeating them until Klaus finally pushed himself to the door. But, she was struck down when he opened the door and Vanya's power had knocked them back.
Klaus wasn't unconscious, yet. He could see the scarlet shields surrounding his and his siblings body. He could also see Ben and Julian, Poet's brother, standing above him.
"I think you should stay by your sister," Ben told the silver-haired man. "I-I need to go save mine."
"I-Are you sure?" Julian asked and Ben nodded.
"Yes. It's a family matter."
So, with those words escaping his lips, Ben walked away, leaving Julian to head towards his unconscious sister whose fingers were still glowing, indicating she wasn't dead. He sat beside her body and waited patiently and anxiously until Ben had done what he wanted to do.
"Shit..."
