The next days were spent with me teaching them Spanish. I started Italian lessons now and it was quite challenging. I needed to speak as little english as I can.
Now, it was the first of February.
I wasn't allowed to participate in the plan and I sulked about it. He didn't even allow me to pretend as a maid. He went on several dates with the eliteㅡmostly Louiseㅡso Gabriel wouldn't be suspicious. Speaking of Gabriel, I haven't run into him in my whole stay here and I was glad for that. I do see him sometimes but he never talks to me. He acts all mighty and royalty-like that he ignores me if we cross each other but being Eldora, I ignored him too. My chin held high, my back straight, and confident strides made him raise an eyebrow at me but that was it. No words.
I made my way to the fourth floor where the classes were held. Claire and Louise were the only ones inside. Even if I'm not informed, I know Harriet will be thrown out too. The girls were gossiping with each other and the only things I heard were 'Out', 'Guards', 'Staff', 'Boy', and 'Foreigners'. With only those words, I can already guess what it was about.
I walked to the table in front and it was then that I realized that Madame Lourdes was there. She smiled to me in greeting and I smiled back, unsure of what to do. She glanced at the two noisy girls and flashed them a look of disappointment and disgust.
"Princess Eldora, come with me please." Madame said and walked out of the room.
I didn't even have time to respond so I followed her outside. We stopped outside of the room and I looked at her to tell her that she should tell me what she needs to tell me.
"Today's classes will be suspended. The future king said so. We need to dress up in white. So you should go to your room and change. I've already told Lady Claire and Lady Louise. The prince also told me to tell you that after you're dressed, meet him at the front of the palace. At the fountain. He said to hurry up."
I nodded and rushed to my room. I knew this was about the plan. We were finally kicking them out. Somehow, I could tell that this plan would work but the dream I had back then still haunts me. The one where we end up in the streets.
I entered the room and I saw Georgia, Hannah, and Vivianne looking at the closet.
Yes, they were still assigned as my maids and only Georgia knew who I really was.
"Princess!" Hannah exclaimed, "You're right on time! We need to dress you quickly."
They didn't pull me like how they usually did. They respected myㅡEldora'sㅡspace. I made my way to the walk in closet and stood on the small circular stage in the middle. Vivianne stripped the shirt from my body and the pants from my legs. Hannah took a white dress from my closet and made me wear it.
The dress was simple. It had sleeves that reached my elbows and a skirt that reached my knees. No extravagant designs were seen, only a little beads here and there. They ushered me to the vanity and Georgia put make up on my face. Hannah curled my red locks and pit it in a low bun. Vivianne gave me white heels then sent me off when I was finished.
I walked to the fountain and saw him waiting there. He wore a white dress shirt and some slacks. I instantly smiled when I saw him tapping his foot repeatedly. He was nervous, obviously. He was restraining himself from running his hand through his hair because it was waxed. When I reached him, I sneaked up to place my hands on his shoulder.
I put it with force then said, "Boo."
He jumped a little but sighed in relief when he saw me. I cracked up and his face turned to annoyed.
"You shouldn't surprise me," He said with a playful glare.
I shrugged, "I can when I want to. You can't stop me."
He rolled his eyes but smiled. Then his smile faded and he looked at me with seriousness, "The plan is taking effect right now. Harriet is already with a New Asian guard. Gabriel is in the servant's quarters. We need to get outside the palace with the others. There are cameras that will film everything. Now, come."
He offered me his arm and I gladly took it. We walked outside the huge gates and saw the two Elite waiting outside with a lot of other spectators. Like what Tony said, there really cameras placed and focused on the gates. Some were focused on the staff and Harriet outside. Their hands were tied at their backs and their mouths were gagged. Harriet gave us a wicked glare but I stared at her with no emotion.
Tony and I placed ourselves beside the Elite. Claire was on the other and and I was on the other, beside me was Tony and beside her was Louise. On Claire and I's sides were guards. Their guns were held in a firm manner and they just eminated authority.
I released my grip from Tony's arm when I saw some citizens pointing and whispering. It was then that I remembered that I wasn't in the competition anymore. Tony looked at me in concern when he didn't feel my hand. I shook my head and flashed him a smile as if to say 'Nothing's wrong'. He didn't seem to believe it but he didn't pry and I was glad for that.
My hands were gripping each other calmly in front of me. My blank face was back as we waited for the event. Claire and Louise were whispering each other about what was happening. They were also in white. Claire's were two inches above her knees and had sleeves that reached her wrists. Louise had a sweetheart neckline and a skirt that was high at the front and low at the back.
I heard footsteps and yells coming from the inside of the palace. Instantly, the cameras and people turned to the opening gates. Italian guards marched out and in the middle was Gabriel Illèa who had his hands tied and had a look of fury on his face.
"Zeke!" He yelled, "You're doing a huge mistake! You think you can kick me out that easily?"
Tony didn't utter a word. He just stared at Gabriel as he was dragged out of the palace gates. The people pointed and filmed it with their phones. I was sure this was going to appear in The Report.
"Mark my words, prince! I will take what's mine and trample everything that gets in my way!" He exclaimed.
His followersㅡHarriet and the other staffㅡwho were still gagged and tied, were dragged along with Gabriel. They kicked and wiggled but the guards were too strong. They shoved the prisoners into cars and drive them away.
I didn't know where they were going to dump them but I didn't care. All that matters was that they were gone, and we intend it to stay that way.
Tony sighed in relief when the cars were out of sight. I turned to him and flashed him a smile, only to see that he wasn't looking at me. He was smiling at Louise who returned the smile. They held hands the whole time.
I turned away and took a deep breath. Ignore it.
At my peripheral vision, I saw Tony move to the middle and leave the three of us on the side. One butler gave him a microphone.
He took a deep breath and put his mouth to the microphone, "People of Illèa. Today you witness the freedom of the palace from the rebels. And on this day, we celebrate! No more rebels will infiltrate our home. We thank the countries supporting us, namely, Italy and New Asia, for sending armies to our aid. And I would also like to make an announcement." He said and paused. I saw him pass his eyes to the three of us. It seemed like he was trying to catch my eyes but I didn't meet his. "To the former selected, there will be a ball in your honor. It shall be a masquerade ball. Wear black and gold. And to the citizens of this country, kindly check your local post office to see if you've been chosen to enter this ball. If you are chosen, come to the palace and the palace will serve you." He smiled at the camera, "As my coronation approaches, so does my wedding day. I do not know if I should be crowned king immediately or if I should wait for my bride. I am currently discussing with the prime minister but I have instructed someone to make a survey anout this topic. Kindly vote for the choice you wish I make, it would be much help." He paused and motioned for us to join him.
Louise and Claire approached him hastily but I stayed at the side. I figured he wanted his future bride beside him and as much as I hated to admit it, I wasn't one of them.
"If Princess Eldora would make her way here, maybe this event would be at an end?" He said and held out a hand.
I rolled my eyes but took his hand. When I was beside him, I slipped my hand from his and stared at the crowd with a stoic expression.
"We humbly thank everyone who supported us until now. Please be assured that I would do my best as king of this country and that if you have some suggestions, please don't hesitate to write me a letter. It takes the leader and the citizens to make a good country." He said and bowed to the crowd. I followed his lead and curtsied deeply. The two elite followed after me. "To everyone, please continue to support us. Our title doesn't define us, we are just like everyone here. Illèans. But given a responsibility. We ask for your supoort in the decisions we make for the good of the country." We rose.
I smiled at the camera. His speech was so inspiring that I almost forgot the little PDA I witnessed earlier.
The crowd cheered and I saw Tony take a sigh of relief. Louise patted his back and flashed him a smile. He smiled at the people and we descended back to the palace.
When the gates were closed, he turned to us and smiled, "You may go back to your lessons now."
Claire groaned, "I don't want to."
He chuckled, "But you must. Madame Lourdes will be orienting you on the ball."
"Why? It's just a ball." Claore pointed out.
He winked, "Who knows? Just go."
Louise nodded and smiled, "I'll see you when I see you." Then she pulled Claire away.
I walked and followed them but a hand pulled me back. I met Tony's serious and sad face.
"What?" I asked, "I'm kind of a teacher, remember?"
He sighed and rand a hand through his hair, messing up it's style, "Are you avoiding me?"
I looked at him in fake confusion, "Avoiding you? What ever do you mean?"
"You usually comfort me in those kind of situations." He said, "But you just ignored me."
"Correct me if I'm wrong, mister. I'm supposed to be Eldora at that moment, remember?" I retorted. Besides, you have Louise to comfort you.
His frown disappeared as he nodded in understanding, "Right. I'm sorry." He showed me a smile.
I smiled back, "Let's head back to palace now. I think I should be teaching."
He shook his head, "Your lessons are terminated."
I gasped, "Am I a bad teacher?" I asked with fake disappointment.
He showed me his lop-sided smile,"The worst one there ever is."
I rolled my eyes, "Yeah right."I said and walked away.
"Hey!" He called but I ignored it. "Hey come back!" He exclaimed again and of course, I ignored him.
Then he caught up with me and held my hand, "Dee."
My eyes widened and I looked around us to see if anyone heard. I sighed in relief when I saw no one. I slapped his hand, "Be careful with what you call me. I'm Eldora remember?"
He smiled sheepishly, "Sorry." He took my hand again, "But you won't be using that name any longer."
"What?" I asked in surprise. I stopped walking and faced him for answers. He smiled and pulled me away. "What do you mean I won't be using it any longer?"
He smiled and just walked. I sighed in defeat when I realized he won't tell me the answer. We walked down the hallway and I felt a tinge of dismay. The usual hallway crowded with guards were left with two to three in each passage. A little amount of maids scurried about.
A lot of the staff were rebels.
"Where are we going?" I asked him.
"Well, you have your own lessons." He stated with a shrug.
I stopped and looked at him in shock, "What?"
He smiled, "I said you have your own lessons."
"Why?" I asked, "Are you trying to make me dead with boredom?"
He smirked, "It's a lesson you need to learn. And your teacher about it would be the best person."
I crossed my arms, "What is it about? Not to brag, but I already know a lot of things."
"A dance," He replied.
"I already know how to dance!" I said and flailed my arms about in exasperation.
The thought of having another lesson is frustrating. Especially about something you already know. And I'm going to be alone in this. No one is with me.
"But it is a dance you have yet to know," He said, "You're going to perform it at the ball."
"What?" I asked, "I'm performing at the ball? Why wasn't I informed?"
He smirked, "That's why I'm telling you now. The reason for it however, is a secret."
I groaned, "You're impossible."
He shrugged, "I try."
I rolled my eyes, "Just get me to this stupid lesson."
He smiled and took my hand again, "I'm sure you'll be surprised about who the teacher is."
"I'm not even going to ask for an answer," I told him. "Even if I threaten you to tell me, you won't."
"You know me too well." He said, "But I think you can do something to make me answer."
"And what is that?"
He smiled mischievously, "You're going to beat me up if I tell you. So . . . I'd prefer not to tell you."
I sighed, "And why would I beat you up for it?"
He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. I gasped and slapped him repeatedly on his arm. He laughed out loud, "I knew you'd beat me up."
My cheeks flared, "You're a pervert!"
He gasped in fake surprise, "Pervert? What have you veen thinking? I never said anything. You made the thought."
I groaned, "You're impossible."
He smirked, "I've been told only moments ago."
