Chapter 39: Fix you
Tyler
My dad didn't say a word to me after he returned from the mission.
Nothing other than 'mission accomplished'.
I didn't talk to Tony as well, but he must've returned to his home. It's late afternoon on Sunday and only Jack was here with me as he didn't leave since Friday night.
I can guess that it must've not been easy for him and maybe some pack lives were lost in the process. I've seen enough war movies to hazard there are always casualties.
But I also know that Tony's dad stayed back guarding the pack and didn't travel with the team. None of the injured warriors did, except for Delta Westbrook. So, small blessings.
Anyway, my dad will talk to me when he's ready.
In the meantime, I have my mate to keep me company and provided for. And by provided, I mean with his large...
"Are you okay?" - Jack snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Yes, just nervous about dad's return. He only said the mission was successful." - I replied in an anxious tone.
"It's probably very taxing for him, to have to decimate an entire pack. It was likely very difficult for everyone involved." - He observed, pensive.
"Yeah. I can't imagine having to kill kids or teens just like us. Goddess, I'm actually glad I couldn't come. Poor Tony." - I said feeling awful just imagining it.
"Well, let's get our minds out of it for the moment. Let's focus on more positive things while we can." - He suggested with a naughty grin.
"You don't have to tell me twice." - I agreed, then I spent a good time getting dicked by my mate. It's a very nice distraction for sure.
At night, when we got downstairs for dinner, dad was looking absorbed in some type of way. Sarah and I noticed immediately.
"Are you okay, dad? Can you talk about it?" - I asked him, snapping him out of the daze he was in.
"I'm fine, son. It's just that when I asked the Alpha why he did what he did, he told me..." - He started but trailed off. The words faltering.
"He said your grandfather had killed his dad when he was Alpha." - He spoke and Jack gasped.
"What? Why?" - Jack inquired, looking confused.
"I don't know. To be honest, once I heard his explanation I went ballistic. I just can't imagine what killing Alpha Stonehold had to do with your grandfather." - Dad replied in a somber tone. He seemed really affected by it.
"I really thought somehow I'd get a more plausible explanation. Something your dad did or our pack did. But I wasn't expecting that. And I just lost it completely." - Dad continued, tearing up.
I almost never see my dad cry. To be honest, last time I saw him crying is the night of Delta Jones' funeral. And before that, when Jack's family got slaughtered. That's the first (and last time) that I saw him really crying.
"I even said he had gotten away with murder. He got his 'revenge'. Why continue to attack us? What could he possibly have to gain from it?" - Dad told us, his expression was pained and his mind seemed to be running a million miles per hour.
"And what did he reply?" - Jack asked him, curiously.
"He said he couldn't get over his father's death." - Dad answered, sounding annoyed and uncomfortable. Almost revolted.
"Well, he's not wrong there " - Jack reflected with a dark humor.
"Yeah, my thoughts exactly. That's what I said to him right before we killed his 3 children in front of him and his mate." - Dad spoke in a tormented tone, making everyone gasp in shock.
My mom ran a hand over dad's head and shoulder in an attempt to comfort him.
"I'm sorry for over sharing, guys. That's not what I intended. I just couldn't forgive him for killing my goddaughter. I just didn't have it in me to be merciful." - He confessed in tears.
Jack sobbed at his words so loud none of us could eat anymore. I hugged my mate before he excused himself and left. I tried to get him to stay but he wouldn't listen to me.
He got in his car so fast, I could barely say goodbye. I was mad at dad for saying that, but I could tell he was torn up about it himself. I could tell he was broken. I cried too this night. Because when my mate is sad, there's no reason for me to be happy.
Jack
When I got home, I went straight to our room. I barely said hello to Gus and Lidia. I just needed to see Tony.
He looked completely devastated on his bed, shook by what he witnessed.
"Hi, Tony. Tell me about it." - I greeted him in a demanding voice.
"Hi, Jack. You don't want to know. Trust me, it was horrible. Much worse than I thought it would be." - Tony replied in a somber tone. I could tell he's very shaken up about it.
"I do trust you. And I do want to know. Everything. Start from the beginning." - I demanded.
"Jack, I'm not sugar coating. It really was awful." - He insisted, sounding remorseful.
"I know. I believe you. From the beginning." - I stated in a firm tone.
"Jack, I'm telling you--"
"Antonio! Now!" - I yelled, cutting him off. My eyes are glowing and my voice commanding.
He could see I was not backing down from it, so he told me everything that happened from the beginning of the assault to the slaughtered Alpha family, sparing no gory detail.
After he was done, I thanked him and we went to sleep. I was crying when I got here, I kept crying while listening to the story. But at least, I got some closure. At last.
The next morning, I greeted Gus and Lidia properly and apologized for yesterday, but they didn't even flinch. They knew I had it bad because of the assault. And they saw the state I arrived.
Tony was also broken, but that's understandable. He is gonna be affected by it for a very long period.
By the time he and I arrived at school, students were buzzing about the events. In fact, there were several different rumors circling around school.
Multiple reports as there were too many people present to take into account. But at least no one bothered Tony or Sarah anymore. Not about Tony's 'hidden talent' anyway.
"Are you okay?" - Ty asked me as soon as I greeted everyone, looking worried. Sarah did the same to her mate.
"I will get there eventually." - I replied honestly. My face was anguished since yesterday, but not nearly as bad as Tony's.
"Did your dad say anything, Jay?" - Ty asked him, intrigued.
"He did. But it's so horrible, he only told us the bullet points. And even so... my Goddess!" - Jay's face was pained thinking about it.
"Yeah, that's the general consensus." - Tony agreed with a troubled look on his face.
"Oh right. You went there yesterday. Bro, I can't even imagine..." - Jay reflected with furrowed eyebrows.
"Be glad you don't need to and leave it at that. Let's just be happy we're done with the threat." - Tony argued with a disturbed expression.
"Yeah, now we can focus on more positive things. For example, Anna are you excited for your upcoming birthday?" - Elsa remarked in an upbeat tone.
"I guess. There are so many students already mated that the pool of possibilities decrease by the day." - She replied with a worried tone.
"Don't worry. What's yours is reserved by the Goddess." - Elsa comforted her with a smile.
We went to our classrooms as our journey is intense. But not before I say goodbye with a kiss to my mate.
Tyler
By lunch time, nobody spoke of anything else but the attack and its consequences. But what it's most discussed was my dad's final judgement of the deceased Alpha family.
It seems like he took stuff personally because they killed not only Alpha Stonehold and his mate but also their little girl. My dad's goddaughter.
Now, please answer me: how do you NOT take personal the murder of a 6 year old? What kind of psychopath even kills an innocent little girl?
Of course he's affected by it. Show me someone who isn't and I'll show you a real psycho. So sorry... not sorry.
Tony wouldn't comment on what happened because it's too painful for him to describe, which seems to be a running theme with everyone involved.
Honestly, I'm so glad Jack couldn't go to that. I figure it could do more damage than going. But at least he got some closure. Now, he can finally move on from it. And so can we.
Or at least try.
And so I persevered. As the days went by, I tried my best to be there for him as much as I possibly could.
Even though most days it's just silently offer him a touch, a kiss or oral sex, that cheers anyone up.
And on Fridays, we'd get back to our regular schedule of him giving it to me. Sometimes we all need some mind numbing good sex to get us out of our rut.
There's really nothing for us to do but to move on somehow. So, that's my focus. Slowly but surely, with the days that turned into weeks.
"Happy Birthday, Anna!" - I congratulated her with a kiss and hug. So does everyone.
"Thanks, guys. Alpha, do you see any glow in my eyes?" - Anna inquired, expectantly. Apparently after Peter's mating, Jack became the mate whisperer. Since he saw his eyes glow before anyone else.
"No, I'm sorry. But you look very beautiful today." - He replied with an awkward smile.
"Congratulations." - Tony told me, smiling.
"Are you confused? It's Anna's birthday, not mine. Mine was months ago when you found your mate." - I snickered, making Sarah glare at me.
"That's not what I meant. Congratulations on the bun in the oven." - He said and I hugged him tight. In fact, it was so tight Sarah was a little peeved, but who said werewolves were normal?
"Thanks, Tony. This is the best news." - I smiled widely and got congratulations all around. Jack kissed me with such tender, such happiness, I melted under him like it was our first time.
"Congratulations, Luna." - He smiled wide at me.
"Thanks, Alpha. We so needed this. I needed it." - I admitted. Elsa gave me the biggest hug. As big as her belly would permit.
Unfortunately, as we did our rounds trough school, Anna didn't find her mate anywhere. Poor girl. We all felt bad for her. All of us are mated except for her. She was the last of us, since Peter got bumped by Daisy's birthday.
But it is what it is. There's no guarantees in life as we say it so often. There's not even a guarantee I'll see this baby to term. Gasp!
But I celebrated the news with my parents and Jack with his family. Everyone was so happy for us and wished us well. For once, it was nice to have some good news to share.
I went to the hospital to get checked out, but everything was fine with the both of us. Which is the same that could be said about before. Anyway, now there's nothing to do but hope.
Jack was a little scared to have sex again because he somehow got into his head that it was his fault for me losing the baby last time.
Men, am I right?
I said it's impossible for it to happen cause babies stayed in a separate compartment, not related to my trunk. But who can persuade that man?
So, I told him he would have to bottom as I'm not gonna go without sex for 9 whole months.
That cheered him up. And convinced him he was crazy and I was right.😅
"Nothing?" - I asked Anna with a dreadful fear.
"No, unfortunately." - She answered with a deeply saddened tone.
We're all feeling bad for her. It's now May, weeks from her birthday and no mate. This hasn't happened in a while for any student. Most of them find their mate at school. She's completely devastated.
"I'm so sorry, Anna. I hope you'll find him at our ascension ceremony. Literally the entire town will be there." - Jack tried to comfort her.
"I hope so too, Alpha." - She answered with a weak smile.
"In the meantime, we're having a dinner party at Tyler's house next Friday. And we would love for you to come. All our friends are gonna be there." - Jack said, surprising everyone including me.
"We are?" - Jay said in a questioning look.
"Yes, Jason. Has Elsa not told you? Honestly, pregnant brain is a medical condition." - Jack snickered, making Elsa and I glare at him.
"Of course, Alpha. Count me in." - She replied with a smile. Then, she excused herself to go to the restroom.
We're at the cafeteria during lunch break at school. Our penultimate week of classes.
Things are on track for our graduation and going smoothly with the pregnancy. So far.
"What the fuck! Pregnant brain? Do you have a death wish?" - I snapped at him once she left.
"I'm sorry. I needed to think fast. I hate seeing her like this so left out. A dinner party seemed like a nice idea." - Jack argued, hands in the air defensively.
"What if we had already made plans for this Friday?" - Elsa questioned him with an annoyed tone.
"People, she's your friend. Don't you want her to feel included and thought of?" - Jack argued, making us feel bad.
"Touchė, Alpha." - Tony smirked.
"I'm glad you're smiling. You're coming too since it's your mate's house." - Jack told him, grinning.
"With pleasure. Any excuse to spend time with my mate is a great excuse." - He said and kissed Sarah. Damn, they're so in love those two. I'm glad people forgot about his 'talent' and left them in peace. They both deserve it.
"Fine, Alpha. You better have them serve us great food." - Jay conceded.
"I won't. I don't live there, but Luna will." - Jack said, making everyone turn to me.
His smug was almost too unbearable to endure.
"Oh, you're going down, Alpha! You're so going down." - I threatened him with a death glare.
"Promises, promises..." - He snickered. Fuck, he's so fucking hot when he gets all confident and acts like a nice person. It's a terrible combination. Now, I have to return to class with a massive...
Friday night, everyone is gathering up at the dinning hall of the pack house. As promised, our friends came to celebrate the end of school year or whatever bullshit excuse Jack came up with.
Celebrations are usually done AFTER we graduate, not before. Anyway...
"I just wanted to take tonight to celebrate you people, the biggest surprise of this school year and the nicest group of friends I have ever encountered." - Jack toasted with a raised glass.
Everyone smiled and cheered at the nice gesture, even my parents are taken aback by it.
"Congratulations on getting trough this year. I know it's been difficult for some people, but you persevered." - Dad joined in. There were more cheers and glasses being raised.
"Excuse-us, can we come in, Alpha?" - One of the warriors who live inside the pack house asked as he appeared at the door.
"Of course, come on in. I took the liberty of inviting them over to share a meal with us tonight in celebration of our pack. I hope it's all right, Mr. Burke?" - Jack asked dad, who got surprised by his gesture. As the rest of us.
"Of course, the more the merrier." - Dad spoke, cheerfully. What was he supposed to say? It's their house too.
And so, several young warriors entered the dining hall. And all of the sudden...
"Oh my Goddess!" - Anna screamed, eyes glowing.
Right in front of the dining hall door, there was a warrior with glowing eyes.
"MATE!" - She darted at his direction like a missile.
"MATE!" - He replied, mesmerized by her presence.
We're all hypnotized by the scene, then it hit me.
"You son of a bitch! You planned this. The dinner party, the invitations, the warriors coming, all of it just so she can find her mate." - I said to Jack, making all of us turn to see his smug face. And his boastful smile at his scheming gone well.
"I am Alpha." - He grinned at me. He was so irresistible that I had to fight the urge to fuck him right now. But damn, he's good.

A|N: The last mate pairing of the book. *swoons*
I'm particularly proud I didn't make the pairing so obvious.
And with that, the end nears.
Love,
Léo.
