Chapter 29: Baby, now that I found you
Jack
By the time I got home, Tony had already told his parents about the rut and what happened at school today.
They were very worried for him, but he was medicated and there's nothing else for him to do. Literally, only one thing can cure rut. And it's the same for heats: completing the bond.
Tony was devastated that Sarah flinched from his hug. That killed him. He didn't complain about it, but I knew it.
In the next morning, on our way to school, I talk to him about it for a bit.
"I know it killed you to see Sarah flinch away from your touch. I'm sorry that happened." - I smiled weakly at him.
"I'm sorry too." - It's all he says, sulking.
"I'm sure she was just scared at the time. It was not easy to watch. And she's your mate, it's worse." - I argued.
"I know. It's fine." - He replied in a short temper. I could tell he didn't want to talk about it, so I didn't press the issue any further.
When we got to school, everything was nice and easy. Let's see how long that last...
"So, did Tony cause a drought? Or a collective masturbation?" - I asked, half smiling, after we all exchanged pleasantries.
Sarah and Tyler grimaced. Jason laughed. Peter blushed. Elsa and Anna giggled.
"No, Tony's rut only affected him and his not so little guy." - Jason snickered.
"Jason drop it." - Tony glared at him, annoyed.
We all laugh at this uncontrollably - minus Sarah, who wouldn't make fun of her own mate.
Tony looked funny at Tyler for a moment. Since I'm right beside him as always, I caught that but he wasn't the one joking about him today.
Then he took a whiff and stared at him in confusion.
"What? Why are you staring at Tyler? Don't tell me he's in heat again?" - I joked, making Tyler scowl.
"Are you not smelling that?" - He asked me, curiously.
"Smelling what?" - I replied, looking puzzled at him.
Tyler is also curious about it. By now, everyone is staring at Tony in curiosity.
"Tu pareja está embarazada." - Tony said, sending me into a fit of laughter so intense it took me more than 5 minutes to quiet down.
Everybody kept staring at me intrigued as to why I'm laughing so uncontrollably.
"I'm sorry, guys. I think Tony's rut affected his nose. He just said Tyler is pregnant." - I said and they all burst into laughter.
After 5 minutes for everyone to calm down, Jason spoke.
"You do know you can't get pregnant the way they do it, right? Isn't your mom a nurse? Didn't she have the talk with you?" - He smirked.
At this, me, Peter, Anna and Elsa laughed even harder.
"My Goddess! That's the best I've heard all week. I think Tony's nose is confusing Ty's scent with Elsa's." - Anna suggested it, laughing too.
"I'm not confusing anything. And yes, I know they can't get pregnant the way they do it, Jason. I'm not a moron. I'm just saying: Tyler's scent is giving away pregnancy to me." - Tony insisted.
Sarah resisted laughing at her mate's expense. She just looked at them weirdly. Both Tony and Ty. Soon enough, we're all in the classroom together.
Tony got benched from the wrestling team because of his rut - I saw that coming - so I didn't have him in the locker room with me when I showered. But since Tyler and I aren't ignoring each other anymore, I was fine talking to my mate instead.
"Are you okay? I mean aside from Tony's situation?" - He asked me while shampooing his hair.
"Yes, I'm fine. It was scary yesterday. But Tony would never hurt me. Plus, I can relate to his situation more than anyone." - I replied, soaping myself.
"Yeah, that was scary. But I do get it. I mean, wolf nature. It can be a bitch sometimes." - He pondered with a worried expression on his face.
"I just hope the situation gets resolved for both of their sake." - I said, a bit embarrassed.
Tyler didn't reply and continued with his shower. Later, during lunch break, we're eating and poking fun at Tony for what he said earlier.
"Hey, is one of the side effects of rut is to screw up your sense of smell, because that will fuck you up as Beta. Sarah, you better act fast before your mate gets screwed for life." - Jason snickered, looking (and laughing) at her and Tony.
"Keep talking, Jason. And you'll never make it to team leader, let alone under Delta like your dad." - Tony jabbed, making him grimace instantly.
In a 100 warriors army like ours, it's not enough to have a Delta and an under Delta. You need team leaders to lead small groups of men and women in various scout missions and expeditions.
Quite simply, the Delta can't lead everyone at every time. So, to each group of 10 warriors there's a team leader responsible for their mission.
It's the team leader's responsibility to report to the Delta or under Delta at the end of every mission. Even if it's a simple patrol, which is what most of our warriors do on a daily basis. Patrol our boarders and territory to make sure no rogues trespass.
And all warriors, including the Delta (and his under) answers directly to the Beta. He is the protector of the pack, responsible for our security.
"I'm sorry, Beta. I was joking." - Jason apologized, nearly crying. He dreams of succeeding his dad as Under or maybe even Delta. But guess who chooses the person for the position?
"I know, Jason. Relax. I'm just messing with you." - Tony laughs it off, causing Jason to let out a relieved sigh.
"Isn't it weird that Jack and Tony will succeed my dad and Beta Davis. But Delta Jones will continue on as Delta of the pack? So will Mr. Westbrook as Under?" - Sarah wondered.
"Yeah, it's just that Delta is chosen. It's not an ascension like Alpha and Beta. And Tony will need time to choose Jones' successor." - I explained, looking at her.
"Yeah, I can't demote Delta Jones if I don't have any idea who am I going to put on his place. I need time getting to know the warriors first." - Tony argued.
"Did your dad and Beta Davis kiss and made up?" - I asked Jason, who laughed at the question.
"No, but he returned to his usual shift. They don't speak to each other as much. But like you said, it's not gonna matter anyway after Beta Davis retire. My dad will continue on his job." - Jason replied in a slightly concerned tone.
"I will buy you an ice cream just for you to visit my mom at the hospital." - Tony told Tyler, grabbing our attention at the proposal.
"Which flavor?" - Ty asked, curiously.
"Whatever you want. It's yours." - Tony replied, purposefully.
"Wow. This is the easiest ice cream I've ever gotten." - He joked, grinning.
"Fine, Tony. If you think your mom won't laugh me off the maternity ward, I'll go on Friday before warrior practice." - Ty conceded, making Tony smile.
"Thank you, Luna. If she says I'm crazy, then I'm crazy." - Tony said, mildly confident.
Later, when we arrived at Tyler's house, we're received by his parents as usual. I wanna go to the Alpha's office to do my internship, but Tyler couldn't resist sharing the joke with his parents. He's giggling already in anticipation.
"Mom, dad, you're not gonna believe what Tony said to me today!" - He teased, barely containing the laughter.
They shot their brows in curiosity.
"He said that I'm pregnant."
He was expecting a loud laughter from them, but got a silent judging and frowning instead.
"Why aren't you laughing at this?" - He asked them, positively intrigued.
"Well, son, we don't know what it is but you do smell a little different." - His dad said, carefully.
"What? Even so, I can't be pregnant. I'm a man." - Ty stated with clear confusion by their reaction.
"Of course not. But it doesn't hurt to run a check up." - Mr. Burke pondered.
"I can't believe this! Am I crazy? Men don't get pregnant!" - Ty repeated, baffled.
"Mr. Burke, would it be all right if I took Tyler to the hospital just for a quick check up? I promise I'll make it up to you." - I asked him, who offered no objection.
"I'm not going. This is crazy!" - Tyler exclaimed, furrowing his eyebrows in confusion.
"I know it is. But it can be something else. A tumor." - I suggested, making him gasp.
"A tumor?" - He got wide-eyed terrified.
"Some tumors mask themselves as pregnancy. You never know." - I argued.
"That only happens to women, Jack." - Mrs. Burke told me in a serene tone.
"Yes I know, Luna." - I replied, sheepishly. - "But still it doesn't hurt to check."
"I don't have a tumor." - Tyler insisted, irritated.
"Are you refusing your mate?" - I raised an eyebrow at him.
This was a constant theme throughout our relationship ever since that first day where he made me think he wanted to top me. He didn't. But ever since, we use it on each other.
Begrudgingly, Tyler got in my car and we went to the hospital. I thought about texting aunt Lidia but she's not always available to answer or check her phone.
"Aunt Lidia. I'm sorry to disturb you, but I'm taking Tyler to the hospital for you to check something out."
"You're not disturbing me. Is he okay? Why would you bring him here at the maternity ward? Don't you want to take him to see a doctor?"
"No, I need you to check him out quietly just to ease our minds. If I take him to a doctor, he'll say we're crazy."
"Why? What's happening?"
"Tony said Tyler is pregnant."
[brief pause]
"Okay, bring him around and I'll check him out."
Some time later, we get to the hospital and walk to the maternity ward as if visiting my aunt. Tyler is pissed about all this, but he doesn't say anything. Though his face is telling a different story.
When we reach aunt Lidia, she takes one look at Tyler (and whiff) and gets wide-eyed.
"What? Does he have a tumor?" - I asked her, worriedly.
"Stop with the tumor talk!" - Ty snapped at me, angrily.
Discreetly, she takes us to a room where she lays Tyler on a gurney and asked him to pull up his shirt, which he does.
She applies a gel on his belly and starts the ultrasound machine, running the device over Tyler's gel covered stomach. When she hits a certain spot, she gets wide-eyed again.
"Stay right here. I'll call a doctor and be right back." - She told us. I gasped. Tyler and I looked at each other in confusion.
"What the hell is happening?" - I'm gobsmacked at this. What is she not telling us?
When she returned with the doctor, he was looking at us frightened. He too picked up the machine and placed it over Tyler's belly.
When he reached the same spot she did, he got wide-eyed. Aunt Lidia was next to him.
"I've told you!" - She said as if boasting.
"What's happening?" - Tyler asked, looking very concerned.
"You need to get his parents here now." - The doctor said firmly to her.
"I'm 18, you can tell me doctor. Do I have a tumor?" - Ty asked him in a scared tone.
"No, Mr. Burke. It appears that you're pregnant." - He replied, making both of us gasp.
"What? How?" - He questioned, intrigued and shocked.
"Are you sure you don't want to wait for your parents to get here?" - He asked, sounding unsure.
"Doctor, please!" - Tyler insisted, pleadingly.
"Well, we have to run some tests. But it appears that you're a rare werewolf specie called Omega. And males from this specie can get pregnant." - He explained, making us utterly gobsmacked.
"Alpha Burke, can you please come to the hospital with your mate. Tyler needs you both right now."
I hugged my mate as I'm too shocked to put into words what I'm feeling. Tyler sobs from the sheer shock.
He was admitted for a battery of exams at the hospital. His parents arrived shortly and comforted him as they were told the news.
Several hours later, it was revealed that Tyler is indeed an omega, the only werewolf specie that males can get pregnant. Apparently, there's a small cavity inside him that if fertilized, boom.
You don't wanna ask how the baby gets delivered. Let's just say thank Goddess for cesarean.
The fetus is doing fine, it's just shy under 2 months old. Needless to say this is going to send shock waves throughout the entire pack.
An omega? No wonder he's mated to an Alpha. But the doctor also said that Tyler is not an usual omega who is fragile, subservient and meek. My mate? Subservient? Right.
No, he said Tyler is a more evolved version of the almost extinct specie. It also explains why he went on heat. Omegas usually have heats pre mating bond, specifically to attract the suitors. But his was only triggered by our mating. His omega DNA reacting to the Alpha of mine.
All things considered, he's doing fine. I mean, after the shock of it all. But he says he still wants the ice cream from Tony.
"Are you okay?" - I asked after we're back to his room. I didn't even go to warrior training today. It's already night. I told my uncle and aunt that I was sleeping with him tonight, but they didn't object.
"I am working on it. To be honest, the tumor story made more sense than my ass expanding enough to birth a child." - He snickered.
"Yeah, it did. But anything would make more sense than that." - I smirked.
"Totally. Anyway, it is what it is. At least, Jason and my kid will grow up together like we did." - Ty pondered with a heavy sigh.
He was completely shaken up by everything. He barely touched his dinner tonight. So, I hugged him and stayed beside, keeping him comfortable and comforted.
The next day at school, Tyler had the unpleasant task of saying Tony was right after all. Of course, Tony already knew that from his mom.
"Hi, guys. It turns out that Tony is not crazy, nor his nose is defective from the rut." - Tyler started in a shy tone.
"What?" - Everyone but Sarah, Tony and me gasped in shock.
"Yeah, turns out I'm an omega, the only werewolf specie that a male can get pregnant." - He explained, serenely. Everybody was completely shocked, as expected.
"Is this a prank? Are you joking?" - Jason asked, unsure.
"I saw the ultrasound. It's not a joke, Jay." - Ty replied, brooding.
"So, we're both pregnant?" - Elsa asked but her tone was doubtful.
"Yeah, our kids are gonna be best friends like Jason and I am." - Ty replied with a weak smile.
"You gotta me fucking kidding me!" - Jason gasped, still not believing it entirely.
"Trust me, it wasn't easy for me either." - Ty was utterly gobsmacked still. His voice never raised. His tone calm and sedated as if numb.
"Congratulations, I guess?" - Elsa said after a minute.
"Thanks. I guess we're taking ultrasounds together from now on. And we'll shop for baby clothes too." - Ty pondered, smiling at her. They all hugged each other for a minute before going to class.
I guess this is my new reality now. Tyler is pregnant. I'm gonna be a dad. A fucking 18 year old dad. What a cliché!
However, as soon as I saw the picture at the ultrasound machine, I was in love. It's an indescribable feeling to put into words. There's a new Stonehold Alpha coming into the world. And though I'm in shock right now, I'm so excited at the same time.

A|N: Boom, bitch!
Though I got started in werewolf literature via an omegaverse story, I quietly judged this mythology of an 'inferior specie' even though I enjoyed the book I read so much.
When I started writing, I promised myself that I'd never write an omega story exactly because I hate the idea of someone born "less". However, as I wrote this new novel, it made sense tackling from a fresh perspective.
In fact, I liked the idea so much I'm writing a new omegaverse novel as I publish this one.
Fun fact: the title song of this chapter follows the exact opposite idea from the "Billie Jean" chapter. First, I didn't want to flaunt the pregnancy. Now, it's so on the nose that no one would get it at first reading it (hopefully).
Love,
Léo.
