Worries
Freya Mikaelson was trying to relax and do some reading. There were currently no crises going on, so she finally had a break from trying to stop some disaster from happening. However, it would have been easier for her to relax if her brother Klaus would stop constantly drumming his fingers against his chair.
Freya looked up at him, meaning to ask him if he could stop that. But then she saw the look on his face. It was a far-away look, as if he were currently in a whole other world of thought. The fingers drumming seemed to something he wasn't doing absent-mindedly, without realizing he was doing it.
"Hey. What's up with you?" Freya asked him.
"Hope's gone away again," he said.
There was a long moment of silence, in Freya waited for Klaus to say something else, but he didn't.
"Okay, yeah. I know she went back to school," Freya said. "I don't think you have that much to worry about, though. Caroline Forbes and Alaric Saltzman are running a good school up there. I've been there before."
"Yes, so have I. It's not that I don't have any faith in Caroline's abilities to run a school. My daughter has already been through so much, Freya. How is she doing with school? How is she coping?"
"Well, don't you talk to her?" Freya asked.
"Yes, she calls me when she isn't busy with school. I just...I guess I just miss her. I worry about her."
"Well, so do I. Klaus, I think she'll be okay. And if she has any trouble, I hope she knows she can come to us."
"Do you think she knows that?" Klaus asked. "Because I...what if she were to get herself into some sort of trouble, and she was afraid to come to any of us with it?" He got from his chair. "She couldn't be in any trouble now, could she? You don't think-"
"No, Klaus I don't think," Freya cut in. "Now, look, you need to calm down a little." She got up and placed her hands on his shoulders. "I think Hope will be okay. Yes, she's still learning about her powers, but she's capable, and she does have people there at school who can help her. I know what you're thinking, and I am not letting you go all the way up to Mystic Falls on some paranoid whim."
Klaus sighed. "Fine. You know...I don't know if I've ever actually said this before, but...you are a great big sister. We do appreciate you, you know."
Freya smiled. "Thank you." She pulled him into a hug. "Sometimes, you're not so bad to have for a little brother."
