The Evening Out (Kolmi)

It was evening, and Camille O'Connell's shift at Rousseau's was almost over. She had had a long day, and decided she would be glad to go home and get some rest.

She was just getting ready to leave when she heard the front door, and she looked up to see Kol Mikaelson walked in.

"Hello, Cami," he said, walking over to the bar. "I haven't caught you at a bad time, have I?"

"No, it's busy right now, but I am going to be leaving soon," she answered. "My shift's pretty much over. I do have time to pour you a drink, though, if that's why you're here."

He smiled and nodded. "A bourbon would be good, thank you."

Cami poured a glass and passed it to Kol, who was still smiling at her.

"So, what's up?" she asked. "Everything all right at home?"

He shrugged. "Oh, same old, same old. Drama, arguing. There's only so much of it a man can take."

 "Is it anything serious?"

"No, not very serious. Just some stupid sibling arguments. You know, I actually do live all of them, but sometimes I think they must all be mad."

"And you're not crazy?" Cami asked.

"If I'm crazy, it's probably because I'm stuck being a Mikaelson. I wish that I was at least the oldest; that way I might have some kind of authority. But I'm one of the younger half, and on top of that I'm stuck between Nik and Rebekah."

"Well, I don't know what it's like being in a family with a bunch of kids," said Cami, "But I do therapy, so if you ever need to have a session, you know where I usually am."

Kol held up his glass. "This is helping a little, so you're already doing a good job." He drank down the last of it and asked, "Could I have another?"

"You do have money to pay for these drinks, right? I can pour you another, but my shift's over." She pointed to the clock on the wall.

"Oh. Well, I don't want to keep you working longer than you have to." He then looked as if he had just gotten an idea. "If you're done here, why don't you and I hang out for a while?"

"Really? Well, what would we do?"

"I don't know. Go to dinner, take a walk around New Orleans. It won't be boring. I promise you, I can be very interesting, and I won't complain about family problems. So, what do you think?"

Cami thought about it for a moment. Kol definitely seemed a little crazy, but he also seemed like interesting company, maybe fun company, too.

"Okay," she said. "Let's go out for a bit. It could be fun."

Kol smiled. "Fantastic. It's a date, then."

"Well, let's not go that far just yet."

Kol gave her a wink. "Well, date or not, I'm going to do my best to make you smile."
