Your sister Elena has always been the one who gets caught up with the Salvatore brothers and all the supernatural activities that went on around Mystic Falls. But recently, you've become very fond of Stefan Salvatore yourself.

 You like him, but you don't know where he and Elena stand, whether or not they're actually still a couple. They don't seem to be too sure themselves, so you decide it might be better not to interfere.

 Instead, you begin dating Stefan's older brother, Damon Salvatore. You do like Damon, and the two of you have fun together. But you don't think you could ever really fall in love with him. You can't seem to get Stefan out of your thoughts completely.

 One evening after school, you go out into town to meet up with Damon, hoping he can catch you up on some Mystic Falls news.

 When you approach the place where you were going to meet Damon, you see a young couple making out on a bench. It takes a moment, but you recognize the guy pretty quickly.

 "Damon?"

 Damon looks up at you in surprise. "Y/N. I-I guess I forgot-"

 "You forgot I was meeting you? And you're here kissing other people? Seriously?"

 "Y/N, let me explain-"

 "Well, what are you going to explain?" you ask. "It's pretty obvious."

 You turn around and walk back the way you came, not wanting to talk to him anymore.

 The next day, you decide to pay Stefan a visit.

 "Hi, Y/N," he says when he answers the door. He looks surprised to see you, but invites you in anyway.

 "So, what brings you by?" he asks.

 "Your brother does."

 He sighs. "Did Damon do something?"

 You nod. "Yeah. You know he and I started going out together a little while back. Last night, he was kissing another girl. I mean, we haven't been dating for that long, but I thought we were a little more serious than that."

 "Another girl," he repeats. "Y/N, are you sure it wasn't your sister?"

 "Elena? No, it wouldn't have been," you say.

 But then you begin to think about it. Elena always did have a strange relationship with Damon. You hadn't paid much attention to the girl he was kissing, but she had looked a little like your sister.

 "Oh, my God." You sit down on the sofa. "I think it was Elena. Are the two of you still together?"

 "No. Not anymore. I think whatever's between her and Damon is too strong. But I'm sorry you got hurt in the process."

 You shrug. "I'll be okay, I guess. It's not likely I was madly in love with him or anything. If Elena actually loves him, maybe they're better off."

 "Really?" Stefan seems surprised to hear you say it. "You two seemed pretty happy hanging out together."

 "Yeah, well, looks can be deceiving," you say. "I was never that into Damon. I mean, yeah, he's attractive, but I don't think he's the guy for me. But enough about me. Are you planning on getting over Elena anytime soon?"

 "That's going to take time," he replies. "But I will."

 "Okay. Well, when you do...call me, okay? We should get together."

 He nods, apparently understanding what you mean. "Yeah. I will."

 You hug him. "I'm sorry you're hurting." You give him a kiss on the cheek. "If you ever need to talk to someone, you can come to me."

 When you begin to pull away from him, he gives you a kiss on the mouth. It only lasts for a quick second, and your instinct is to kiss him for real, but you don't.

 "Why don't we meet up sometime soon?" he asks. "Like, really soon."

 You smile and nod. "That sounds perfect."
