Prom Night (Carlena)
"Elena. Elena, come on. Get up."
Elena Gilbert opened her eyes to see Caroline Forbes standing over her, looking anxious.
"Caroline? How did you get into my room? What time is it?"
"Your aunt let me in, and it isn't too early to start getting ready for prom. It's tonight, Elena! And we are going, remember?"
Elena nodded. Caroline had been excited about the prom for weeks, and now that the day had finally come, she wasn't surprised at how excited Caroline was.
"Yeah, how I could forget we're going?" she asked. "Just give me a minute, okay? I literally just woke up."
Caroline sighed and began to pace the room. Elena sat up in her bed and watched her for a minute. She could sense that Caroline was also nervous about the prom that night, because the two of them were going together as a real couple. This was going to be their way of announcing to pretty much the entire school that they were actually dating. Elena personally didn't care very much what the entire school thought of her dating Caroline, but Caroline seemed a little more conscious of it all.
"You are still okay with going to the prom tonight, aren't you?" Elena asked.
"Of course I'm okay with it," Caroline answered quickly. "Why? Are you?"
Elena shrugged. "I'm fine. I would like for everyone to see that we are a real couple. If anybody sees us eating out together or walking down the street holding hands, they seem to assume it's because we're best friends. I mean, we've been teased about it a few times, but nobody seems to really get this bond we have. If we're going to dance together on prom night, maybe people will finally get it. Besides, I'd get to brag about having an awesome girlfriend."
Caroline gave her a smile. She herself would love to brag about having an amazing girlfriend in Elena. She didn't know how she could be so nervous about telling everyone that she had the best girlfriend she could have asked for. Maybe it was just the whole coming out about thing that made her nervous. But Elena didn't seem very nervous at all, so maybe Elena's calmness would help her feel better.
"Hey, how about I get dressed and then we go have breakfast?" Elena suggested. "I'm just going to assume you haven't eaten anything due to stress and excitement. Am I right?"
Caroline nodded. "Yeah. Okay, that sounds like a plan." She gave Elena a kiss on the cheek. "Have I ever told you you're the best."
Elena smiled at her. "And so are you. I can't wait to tell everyone at prom that you're the best girlfriend ever."
