You met Katherine Pierce in 1864, the very first time she arrived in Mystic Falls. Both of your brothers, Stefan and Damon, fell madly in love with her. You yourself became good friends with her, but it wasn't her you were romantically interested in. She had a brother: Christopher, or Chris for short. You began a relationship with Chris, a secret one because you didn't think your father would approve of it. You gladly let Chris turn you, and you were ready to spend the rest of your life with him. 

 You were devastated when the townspeople killed the vampires of Mystic Falls, because that included Chris. You were lucky enough to get away, but your brothers were turned by Katherine. Stefan and Damon argued and each went their own way, so you wound up going your own way, deciding to figure out a path of life without Chris. 

 You wound up going further south, to New Orleans. It is there you meet Rebekah Mikaelson, the woman who becomes your new best friend. After discovering what Katherine had done to your brothers, you felt angry and betrayed because she was supposed to be your friend. But you have a better feeling about Rebekah and her brothers. 

 Rebekah soon introduces you to her brother Klaus, and something changes in you. He's clearly very interested in you, and you find yourself falling in love all over again. You marry Klaus blindly, not knowing the entire truth about the Mikaelson family. It isn't until you've been married for a while that you learn more about who they are and the things they've done, mainly your new husband. You're horrified when you find out the things he's done, and you eventually flee New Orleans, wanting to get as far away as you can. 

 You spend many years traveling alone, until something important takes you back to your hometown.

 You burst through the doors of the Salvatore Boardinghouse, surprising your brother Stefan. 

 "Y/N?" Stefan asks. "When did you get here?" 

 "Just today. Stefan...where's Chris?" 

 "I'm here, Y/N." 

 Chris is indeed there at the boardinghouse. You run into his arms and kiss him, thrilled beyond belief that he's here, alive. 

 After your reunion with Chris, you ask Stefan, "Is it true the Mikaelsons are in town?" 

 "Elijah and Klaus are," Stefan answers. "Elijah wants to kill Klaus. We've all been looking for a way to stop him." 

 "No, Stefan, you can't do that," you say. You look down at your left hand, where there's still a wedding ring on your finger. "Klaus...he's my husband." 

 "Your husband?" Chris repeats. "Since when?" 

 "I married him decades ago, but I left him when I found out some things he'd done." You look at Chris. "What happened to you and Katherine. But...he's still my husband, and I don't really want him to die. Maybe I can talk to Elijah. I could stop him." 

 "Let me go with you, then," Chris says. "It was always Katherine Klaus wanted, not me. Sure, he'd kill me too if he had the chance, but I don't want you going to see them by yourself." 

 You nod. "Okay. Let's go." 

 You leave the boardinghouse hand-in-hand, but you both stop when you hear a familiar voice. 

 "I wasn't expecting you to show up, Y/N." 

 It's Elijah. He's probably been waiting for you. 

 "Hello, Elijah," you say. "It's come to my attention that you plan to kill my husband." 

 "Are you still interested in Niklaus?" Elijah asks. "You disappeared in the night and we haven't seen or heard from you in decades." 

 "She found out what you did to me and Katherine," Chris says defensively. "And whatever skeletons you Mikaelsons have in your closet." 

 "Look, Elijah," you say, "Don't kill Klaus. There must be a way we can work everything out." 

 "Hmm. Well, Y/N, I really think you need to get your priorities straight, and you need to choose who you would rather be with," Elijah says. "You have Christopher here, and your brothers are inside. But you married my brother, and you made a vow. You don't want him dead, which proves you still feel something. Choose a side, Y/N." 

 And then he's gone. 

 "You don't have to listen to him," Chris says, wrapping an arm around you. "You don't have to have anything to do with them." 

 You hug him, realizing what a mess you're in. You're a Salvatore who's in love with a Pierce and married to a Mikaelson. You do have to decide what side you're on, and it has to be the right choice.
