Kol Mikaelson #11 (Sequel to #10)
Five years go by after your visit to Kol. At this time, there wasn't much you felt you could do for the Mikaelson siblings, so you began to keep an eye on Hayley Marshall and her daughter Hope instead, to be sure they stayed safe, and could bring the Mikaelsons back. Thankfully, Hayley was able to do just that, which doesn't come as a surprise to you; given their history, you were expecting the Mikaelsons to all come back together again somehow.
But when they all come back, Kol isn't the same as he used to be. He and his sister Rebekah go travelling from place to place, party after party. He's safe now, but he clearly still needs to learn to move on from Davina Claire's death. You hope it will be sooner rather than later; you hate to see him in such pain.
Of course, it's during a time when you're busy with something else and not watching the Mikaelsons that major things happen. You don't know what's been going on until you hear something. It's a voice calling you. It's very faint, something you can feel inside, but you would know that voice anywhere. It's Kol himself, calling your name. You thought he wouldn't call you unless he really needed help, which makes you think he must be in some kind of danger. Instead, Kol is simply standing on a street corner in the French Quarter, and looks perfectly fine.
"I heard you," you say. "Is something wrong?"
"Um, something, probably," he answers. "Have you ever heard of something called The Hollow?"
"No. It doesn't sound familiar at all. Are you in some kind of trouble, Kol?"
"No, I'm actually not. Not at the moment, at least. Davina's back. My girlfriend. It had to with The Hollow. Well, it's a long story, but the point is, to save my niece Hope from being taken over by it, my siblings and I each had to take a piece of it into ourselves. The good thing is we saved Hope, but the bad thing is we can never see each other again. We all have to stay far away from each other and Hope so the dark magic can't start doing any harm."
"Oh." You know how bonded the Mikaelsons are, and how difficult it must be for them to go their separate ways. "I'm sorry that had to happen to all of you. I know how much you all love each other."
"Yeah." He nods. "Well, it's not all bad. I'm going out west, with Davina. I'm going to ask her to marry me."
"Well, that's wonderful, Kol. But I still don't understand; why did you call me?"
He shrugs. "Not sure, honestly. I just started thinking about you. I thought I'd see if you had any thoughts. I know you probably don't get involved in things like this too often."
"I don't. But if I am ever able to help you with anything, I will. Trust me. Now, I think I have to go. Maybe we'll se each other again sometime."
You're happy that Kol's doing well. You're honestly a little jealous of Davina, but you doubt an angel and a vampire would work out too well. You can settle for being his guardian angel.
