You rap on the front door of Elena's house. It's Sunday morning, and you think it might be a little early to be visiting, but you're hoping she'll at least be home.

 You're a little surprised by how quickly she answers the door. She smiles and says good morning.

 "I hadn't thought you would come by so early," she says.

 "Yeah, neither did I," you reply. "But I wanted to stop by and see you. So, how are you?"

 She shrugs. "Okay, I guess."

 "I mean for real, Elena," you say. "How are you?"

 She sighs. "Still dealing with being a vampire. You know, I knew from Stefan and Caroline that it's hard. It's just...a lot harder than I realized. How do you do it?"

 You shrug. "I don't know. I...just do, I guess. My early days as a vampire are kind of a blur now, but I remember having a lot of trouble pulling myself together. And then I just figured it out at some point." 

 "So, do you think if I just hold on, I'll get the hang of it?" she asks.

 "I don't see why not. I mean, you've got the rest of your friends, and Stefan and Damon."

 When you mention the Salvatores, she looks away, and her shoulders seem to slump a little.

 "What is it?" you ask. "Have they been giving you trouble?"

 "No. I think it's me more than it is them. You know I've had feelings for them both. But I can't date both of them, and I know they want me pick someone."

 Sensing her distress, you say, "You know, there's no rule that says you have to choose either of them. I don't think they would force you to make any decisions, but if they try to, ditch them both. If you really can't choose between them, it might be best not to date either of then."

 She sighs again. "Yeah. Maybe you're right. Okay. Once I'm fully capable in my vampire form, I'll make my decision, but only when I'm ready."

 You smile. "See, that's the spirit. Aren't you glad I stopped by?"

 Elena smiles back. "Yeah. Yeah, I am."
