Davina Claire + Kol Mikaelson (Daughter!Reader)
Though you're still very young, probably too young to understand what exactly they are, you know your parents aren't normal. You don't know how you know this, but you know there's something about them that makes them different from other people.
One night, when you're supposed to be in bed, you find you can't sleep. Not feeling tired at all, you decide to go look or your mother and see if she's still awake. You hear voices, so you figure she must still be awake. When you leave your bedroom and go out into the hallway, you realize the voices you heard is your parents arguing.
"But we have to be careful, Kol!" your mother is saying. "If we want to be able to give Y/N a normal life, we have to be careful with how we go about doing everything."
"That's the point, Davina," you father replies. "We aren't normal people, at all. You can't expect to just move to an ordinary-looking neighborhood and suddenly be normal. And Y/N has witch blood running through her veins, from your family and mine. She'll never be normal, either."
She sighs. "Okay. I see your point. I just...don't want her to know about any of it, for as long as possible. I know she's going to have to find out the truth about her family someday, but I want to it to wait for as long as it can. She isn't old enough yet to hear about it."
You're not sure what they're talking about, but you have a feeling it isn't something you should be hearing. You're going to go back to your room and try to pretend you weren't when you hear your father call, "Y/N? Is that you out there?"
You freeze, and then you look up at him as he walks into the hallway.
"I thought I heard someone prowling around out here. Couldn't sleep, eh?" He picks up and gives you a smile. "Come on, let's go see Mommy."
"Y/N, I thought you went to bed," your mother says when your father carries you into the kitchen. "Why are you still up?"
"I think she just couldn't sleep," your father answers. "Right, dear?"
You nod. "Is something wrong, Mommy?" you ask.
Your parents look at each other, as if they're wondering if you heard their conversation.
"No, honey, everything's fine," your mother answers.
"Okay. Mommy...are we different?"
Before she can answers, your father says, "Yes, darling, I'm afraid we are. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes being different can be a good thing, so don't you worry right about it. Right, Davina?"
Your mother nods and smiles a little. "Yes. Let's not worry about it right now. I guess being different isn't so bad, not as bad as I was worrying about."
"See now?" Your father hugs you and wraps an arm around your mother. "Everything's going to be fine. Who says we can't live a good life, right?"
