Damon Salvatore #7
After school one afternoon, you decide to go to the Salvatore Boardinghouse. You like it there, and you like the Salvatore brothers. Since you're friends with Elena, you know them pretty well.
As you walk up the driveway, you trip and land on the ground. It's a warm spring day, and you decided to wear a skirt to school. Your bare knees get skinned when you hit the sidewalk. You sit up and look down at them. It's not as bad as you thought it might be, but the wounds are bleeding a little.
The front door opens, and Damon Salvatore, the older brother, is standing in the doorway.
"I thought I heard somebody out here," he says, looking down at you. "What happened to you?"
"I tripped," you answer, and you start to stand up. "Pretty sure I'm bleeding."
"Well, come inside." He holds the door open for you. "We can probably patch that up."
You slip in without looking up at him. You've always liked Damon, but you don't talk to him much. You're pretty sure he has a thing for Elena, even though she's with Stefan. You don't usually come here on your own, and you're a little surprised that there's no sign of anyone else around.
"Is there anyone else here?" you ask.
"No, not this afternoon. Stefan's not around, and nobody besides you seems to be showing up around here today."
You follow Damon into the kitchen, thinking that this is time alone with him you've never had before. Here you are, just you and him, and of course the first thing you did was trip in the driveway.
"There's some kind of first-aid kit around here somewhere," he says, opening and closing cabinets. "Having friends who aren't immortal and with some of the stuff that's happened around here, Stefan thought it would be good to have around."
"I'll clean them first." You take a cloth and run it under the sink. Then you sit down and gently dab at your knees. "If you just have a couple of band-aids, I think that's all I'll need."
"Looks like we have a whole box of them. And there's antibiotic ointment, too." He places them on the table. "This should all come in handy."
"It definitely will." You take the tube of antibiotic ointment. "Thanks, Damon."
He sits down in one of the chairs. "We haven't talked much, have we?"
You pause. "What do you mean?"
"I mean that I can't remember us having any conversations, just you and me," he says. "I mean, I know who you are and you've been here pretty often, but we don't know each other all that well, do we?" He pauses, and begins to smile. "That's it. I've always had you down as a shy one. Was I right?"
"Well, I can be sometimes," you say as you put a large band-aid on one of your knees. "Now that we're here together, it is nice having a conversation with you."
"And why wouldn't it be?" he replies. "Feeling any better now?"
You nod. "Yeah. I feel a lot better."
