You've been hanging spending a lot of time with Damon Salvatore and at the Salvatore Boardinghouse lately. Since Damon saw how open you can be when you're in an environment you're comfortable in (you're usually very timid, which is why it took so long for you and Damon to get to know each other better in the first place), he seems to want to make the Salvatore Boardinghouse a place you feel welcome. He has done that, and you like going there to hang out after school or on weekends. 

 There happens to be one afternoon where you're at the boardinghouse visiting with Damon. It's been a very quiet day, and you weren't expecting anything out of the ordinary to happen. But when Stefan comes though the front with Elena, Bonnie and Caroline, and they all look very serious, you know something must be wrong. 

 "What is it, little brother?" Damon asks Stefan. "We're trying to have a quiet afternoon."

 "This is something serious, Damon," Stefan answers. He looks down and notices you sitting on the sofa. "Y/N, I think it's probably best you go home. Damon is needed for some important stuff." 

 "Oh." You get up from the sofa. "Um, I guess I'll...see you guys tomorrow." 

 You leave the boardinghouse feeling very confused. What could be going on that would make them ask you to leave? You assume it's something you don't know anything about and they don't want you to know about, at least not yet. 

 You suddenly get a strange feeling, the kind that someone is watching you or following you. You stop and look around, but you don't see anyone. So you keep walking, and keep your eyes and ear open. 

 Keeping your eyes and ears open clearly doesn't always help, because you're suddenly grabbed from behind. You let out a scream and try to pull away, but this person feels much stronger than you. 

 "So, you're Damon's new little girlfriend, huh?" a woman's voice hisses. "I'm assuming you're friends with the rest of them given they all stick together as a little band of heroes." She says this in a mocking tone. "Maybe if I just happen," she begins to drag you towards the edge of the road, towards the woods, "To kidnap you, they'll know that I mean business." 

 You happen to get a look at the woman's face, and you're so shocked that you temporarily stop fighting her. "Elena?" 

 The woman chuckles. "No, not Elena, thankfully, but the resemblance helps when I need a disguise. Just know the name's Katherine." 

 "Katherine!" 

 You recognize that voice: it's Damon. You don't know where he came from, but he throws something at Katherine that makes her scream and release you. As soon as she does, you feel Damon's arms around you as he picks you up and, before you know it, you're back in the Salvatore Boardinghouse. 

 "Unbelievable," Damon mutters. "Are you okay?" he asks you. 

 You shake your head. "No. Who was that?" 

 "Katherine Pierce, my malicious, murderous ex-girlfriend," he explains. " I knew she was back in town, but this is crossing a line. I'm sorry. I'm sorry this happened." 

 You nod silently. You've never seen him this angry about something before, but you've also never seen him worried like this before. And he's worrying about you. 

 "You'll be all right," he says. "I promise. Don't worry, I'll tell everything you need to know about Katherine. There's a lot more you need to know about surviving Mystic Falls than you would have thought."
