Monokuma's Origin Story
This story occurred long, long, time ago, way before the Despair Sisters and the Ultimate Despair and her protégés even came into existence, way before the Tragedy even happened.
Somewhere in the deepest, darkest corners of Japan, there was a power that could make inanimate but perfectly made objects move, but shut down the movement of damaged objects. A strange power indeed. A kind of magic occurring like clockwork, if you will.
What caused this magic you ask? The intense power lying in the wishes of such objects to move around and be able to explore the world around them. Just to be disappointed by its mundaneness.
In one such corner, there stood a dumpster, a gathering for all the garbage of this world, alive or dead, functioning or non-functioning. An ordinary stuffed half-white, half-black furry bear, in perfect condition except for its dirty body and one eye, was granted such a power. He poked around the dumpsters, looking for anything interesting or valuable that others might have thrown away by accident. As he looked about curiously, his eye fell on something beautiful, something he couldn't bear to look away from.
It was a gorgeous snow-white she-bear, covered in patches of dirt, wearing a pink dress and adorned with pink frilly bows. It lay in a corner, immobile thanks to missing a ear and an eye, not to mention the stuffing coming out of various places. The more he looked at it, the more he grew attached to it.
"The nerve of people these days - to treat beautiful things like this and throw them away instead of repairing them. Even I could repair this amount of damage." Repair, huh? Let's give it a shot then.
He spent hours, days, even months fixing the she-bear to the best of his abilities. He stitched up all the torn parts, replaced the stuffing with a new one, and even cleaned it up all by himself. In between jobs, he often imagined how the she-bear would react on seeing him, a dirty half-white, half-black ordinary bear with one eye missing, and what she would say. Would she thank him for bringing her back to life? Would she spend time with him, or not? Don't lose hope, he said to himself, she'll definitely talk to you. She has to. You are her savior, after all.
After almost an entire year (you didn't expect a bear to function at the speed of humans, did you? Because that's stupid.), the she-bear was back to its original condition, looking as sparkly and beautiful as ever. In stark contrast, the other bear himself had gotten even worse than before, with Time wearing him out all over. Still, he never lost hope and continued working on the she-bear. However, no matter what he did, she remained immobile.
Does she not want to talk to me or something, he wondered to himself as he gave her another look, trying his best to figure out the problem. She is a beautiful thing, even if she has some parts missing. Wait, missing parts?
He realised that she was missing a ear and an eye. No matter what happens, such a beautiful thing cannot lie here, he thought as he willingly tore off one of his ears and stitched it on. It hurt alright, but he smiled through the tears, knowing he was doing it to help someone. Still, she did not move an inch.
Then he recalled the various encounters he'd had with similar toys and all of a sudden, realisation dawned upon him as he looked at her face—she had an eye missing.
Seems like it's a necessary requirement for gaining that power, he thought.
He decided to tear his one eye out and attach it in place of the missing eye.
But he remembered a piece of information given to him by one of his friends.
As a stuffed toy, eyes are the most essential part of your body. They reflect the soul inside you, the soul that this magic has granted you. Lose both eyes, and lose access to that magic forever. In human language, you'll die.
He knew he would die, but it doesn't matter, he thought, as long as I get to bring someone back to life. Hopefully, she can spare me a smile, if nothing else.
And with those final words, he mercilessly tore off his eye and stuck it in place. The pain he felt was excruciating, but its fine. I'll be better off dead. As he attached the eye, he could already feel his body shut down, but it didn't matter to him.
As he slowly and gradually collapsed, he heard her say, in a sweet tone like a doll's, "Where am I? What a smelly dumpster this is. And who the hell are you?"
"I.....I was the one.....who saved you....the one.....to give you life....." he spoke weakly and tried to smile through the pain.
What she said next shook him up so much he couldn't even say anything in return. He did not expect such a reply from her.
"I wouldn't even let an ugly bear like you even touch me, let alone save my life. Go away." With that she walked away from him, ignoring the tears falling from his eyes as his head reeled in shock and his body completely shut down.
Why didn't she thank me? was all he thought as the magic cast on him wore off. The only thing he could do was to drown in complete Despair as he heard the sound of her footsteps decreasing and gradually disappearing completely.
Time's supposed to heal every wound.
Even Time would not be able to heal this deep a wound.

Gradually, winter came and the streets were covered with white, soft snow.
Two hungry, dejected and lonely girls roamed these streets, braving the cold wind and the harshness of their life, which began with their parents choosing to spend their quality time on their own rather than with their children.
All of a sudden, the younger of the two felt something soft and squishy unlike the slippery snow around them, come under her feet. She stepped back and saw it was an old half-white, half-black stuffed bear, dirty, soggy and wet with the melted snow and missing both eyes and a ear.
"Look what I found, Sister!" She shouted to her sister, who was walking ahead. "This is way better than food!!"
"Uh, is that even edible?" The older one came over and asked.
"What? Shut the fuck up, dumbass." She spat at her and she flinched. "Don't you see the aura around this bear?"
The older one squinted her eyes and looked at it carefully. "Its in bad condition and doesn't have either of its eyes and a ear. Seems sad to me."
"Isn't it so, so Despairful?" The younger one gave a psychotic grin. "The Despair this bear has and will always have inside it will make it my eternal symbol of Despair. This will become the cause of terror for all people over this world. It'll be half-angel, half-psycho, or an angelic psycho, just like me!! A great way to pass time for someone like me. You agree, don't you, Monokuma?" With that, she hugged the bear close to her chest and nudged her sister a bit too harshly, for she slipped and fell. "Just get up and move your ass already, we've got a couple of calls to make."
Hello!
I present to you my first ever fan fiction/short story (lame, I know).
So, I guess I don't need to tell you what happened after that.
If you do want me to tell you what happened after that, well then, here it goes.

NOT!! Now go and drown yourself in the sea of Despair for me, 'kay?
(That was a bit childish of me but I don't care; its what defines Junko in a way and I'm happy to think that.)
Anyway, I also have another Danganronpa surprise for you lined up! Thanks to my stupid schedule, it'll be published next year, since my Despairful desire is to publish it only when it is complete.
Now, HIT THE DAMN VOTE BUTTON MOTHERFUCKERS!!
There, thank you class and now, I take my leave. Goodbye, my Despairs.
