Chapter 3

Selena's POV

Time stilled as I struggled to keep myself calm. The words "stalker" and "Pervert" flashed crossed my mind multiple times.

"How do you know my last name," I asked steadily.

He didn't reply. I sighed. I knew he was a creepy person.

"Why do you wear a mask?" I asked instead. He flinched. "Don't tell me that girls come out of nowhere to greet you or something when you take it off." Sarcasm was clear in my voice.

"Would you believe that?" He asked turning to me. His expression looked so serious that I couldn't help but wonder why he wore it.

I swallowed. "No."

"Could you take it off," I asked, my voice incredibly soft. I had no idea why, but I wanted -- no, needed -- to see his face. He looked at me for a long moment before reaching up and taking his mask off. I couldn't help but gape at him a little.

He was ... more handsome than I thought. I pursed my lips, struggling to look away from him.

"I look good right," He said cockily, a smirk growing on his lips.

"No," I lied. He raised an eyebrow as if to say he could see through my lies.

"You still won't tell me your name, my kidnapper," I asked raising my own eyebrow.

"I'm yours now?" He asked, his smirk growing by the second.

"No!" I exclaimed loudly, rushing up to my feet. I could feel my face reddening.

"If you will excuse me," I said before turning to leave the room. I was full even though my omelet wasn't finished.

"Charles."

I froze. I turned back to see him rising to his feet. His intense eyes met my own.

"You can call me Charles," He said, his face softened for a moment before returning to its usual cold expression. I felt a pang of disappointment as I saw him put his mask back on his face. I had no idea why I was feeling this way. All I could manage was a nod before striding briskly out of the room.

As I laid on my bed, looking up at the ceiling, I couldn't help but wonder if this was how my life was supposed to turn out. I had to escape. And go where, the voice at the back of my head echoed through my head. I let out an irritated sigh.

"I don't know," I whispered to myself. Tears started to pool on the corner of my eyes. I got out of my bed and walked over to my window. I could tell it was at least five stories high. I looked around the room. My eyes flew to my bed. As quickly as I can, I tied the bedsheets to my blanket. It was still too short. I slowly turned to my closet.

An evil smirk grew on my face before doing what I planned.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I couldn't help but glance down at the ground that looked so far. I gulped. It was no secret that I was afraid of falling. Not heights but falling. I started to panic. Maybe I shouldn't escape this way. I took a deep breath. I came too far to back down now. I released a shaky breath before starting the climb.

"One more story, one more story, one more story," I repeated closing my eyes as I climb down. Immense relief filled my whole body as soon as I felt my feet touch the ground. Huh. The ground was too hard to be aground. When I looked out of my window, there should be dirt. Then why does this platform feel so hard...that was when I looked down. Biggest mistake I ever made.

My feet rested on a window sill as I stared through the window. I was still at least 3 and a half stories off the ground. It sure felt like I already achieved five stories. As I looked back through the window, I was shocked to see my kidnapper's eyes staring right back. He had a frown on his face although his amused expression told otherwise. I gulped. He immediately unlocked the window and helped me inside.

Once inside, I observed the desk and bookshelf that rested in the room. This must be his office, I thought. The back of his head faced me as he stared out the window with both hands on the edge of the window. I could see his reflection as I saw him bite his lips and squeezed his eyes shut and released an angry tremor across his body. Fantastic, he was definitely angry. What did he expect ... for me not to escape?

Minutes felt like hours as he just stood there, unblinking. Meanwhile, I was fidgeting on my toes. It felt like an eternity before he finally turned to face me. His eyes were narrowed even more than before.

"Are you out of your mind?!!" He yelled, throwing his arms up in the air. Okay, he was more than angry. He was furious!

"What gives you the right to shout at me, you jerk!!" I yelled right back, putting my hands on my hips. He was breathing heavily now, eyes flashing black then back to green.

"It was glamour," He muttered, his voice steady and calm.

"Glamour?" I asked, my eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

He sighed. " Glamour is when someone creates an imagery to replace reality."

Now I felt even more confused than before. Noticing the expression on my face, Charles runs his fingers through his dark brown hair before releasing a heavy sigh.

" A long long time ago, " he began.

"In a galaxy far, far away," I continued for him, chuckling a little. No happy emotion crossed his facial features.

I cleared my throat. "Continue."

He glared at me before continuing," I glamoured my house."

"Mansion," I interrupted. "Judging by the sight I saw when I woke up, I'm sure this is even bigger than a mansion but we'll call this a mansion for your sake."

He rolled his eyes. "I glamoured my mansion to look shorter than it really is. From all angles. Including when you look down or when you're far away outside and look to see this structure."

My eyes widened. "Yeah, sure, I'll just go back to my room now, before you tell me the Tooth Fairy is real."

I hustled to the door and shut it tight behind me. I released a breath I didn't know I was holding in.

"Excuse me, my lady, but do I know you?" a voice echoes from behind me.

I turned to see a casual dressed man staring back. He too, had pointer ears and slightly more narrowed eyes but unlike Charles, he had no mask on. He looked ... dangerous. As if one might describe the evil queen. Might've been pretty but dangerous.

"What are you people," I blurted out. I hope he forgives me for being rude as I saw him raised his eyebrow.

He sniffed the air.

"a human" He muttered softly. A grinch-like smirk slowly grew on his face.

"We are the fae."
