Chapter 18 - Kota

I just finished re-reading this Academy fanfic: "Sang's Dragon" by GBsang. It hasn't been updated in like six months, but it has more than thirty chapters. It's really good!

Kota

As Mr. Buble addressed the fact that we still had to speak with the Toma Team, Sang simply commented something that really showed how she felt, "Shit."

Owen looked down at his girlfriend, "Why don't you want to go?"

She groans, "I don't want to deal with Asshole and Other-twin!"

I frown, "Who is Asshole? Other-Twin is obviously Brandon."

Sang stood up from her seat on Owen's lap, "The one with two different colored eyes who thinks I'm a cold-blooded murderer of course."

No one really has an answer to that, not even myself. Sang does have the habit of making my brothers and I stay quiet. Owen looks angry and everyone else slightly confused. They hadn't made the connection between the incident at the Diner and the Toma Team. Their synapses aren't working right apparently.

Luke's "Oh" shows the moment that he understand to be followed by the understanding of the others. I guess today is a slow day.

Owen stands up as well, "Nonetheless darling, you promised them answers and answers you have to give them."

Sang pouts, "Whyyyyyyyyyyy?"

Our great stern leader gave her a look that quite literally said 'are-you-stupid', "Darling."

Mr. Buble interrupted us all by saying, "I invite you all to use my office as I excuse myself. Shall I send the Toma Team in?"

Sang begrudgingly replies, "Yeah."

With a nod of his head, the Academy Elder departs and a second later, the Toma Team entered the office. If it felt tight before, having 14 well-built males in a medium size office is not our brightest idea. I should have seen this coming.

Immediately, like the Team Lead/Liaison he is, Axel took control of this situation, "Hello Owen, care to properly introduce us to your bird."

Stiffly, Owen does that, "This is Sang. Darling, this is Axel, Marc, Brandon, Corey, and Raven."

Sang nods before spouting something new, "Leader Man, Asshole, Other-Twin, Lover-Boy and Russian."

The look on the Toma Team's faces has many of my brothers in tears. Luke especially so, "I just can't with you, Cupcake."

Sang however just acts like that was perfectly normal, "What do you want to know?"

Marc steps forward, "Do you have no remorse for killing people?"

With those words, the tension in the room rose and Sang changed. Gone was the carefree, smiling girl who we all have some sort of affection for, as a sister, and back was the assassin. her posture had been relaxed and now all her limbs were tight. She gathered her feet underneath her preparing for a fight. Sang stood tall in her black outfit complete with mask, I finally understood how she was feared by so many as an assassin.

Her eyes which showed her every emotion were impenetrable and hard as steel. You could see that this was a bird who would always come out on top. Her job is surviving and she makes sure that she's damn good at it.

The urge to kick out the Toma Team is overwhelming. Because of them, Sang has reverted to her instincts instilled to her by the mafia. They took away her safe place and are putting her on the defensive. They just effectively backed her into a corner and it's never a good idea to put a trapped animal in a place with no escape. Desperation and pure stubbornness is something Sang has in spades and the only thing she would need to make this a bad situation.

Owen is no help as he is close to killing Marc himself. i sigh as I know the responsibility falls to me. I step forward with every intention of being diplomatic, "If you are going to continue spewing some bullshit like that Marc, I suggest you leave. Now."

So, maybe it came out as more violent than intended.

Surprisingly, Raven backs me up, "I agree with Kota, Marc, you leave маленький убийца (little assassin) alone." That's probably the best English I have ever heard the Russian speak.

North snorts loudly, "With a nickname like you gave her, it's no surprising to see where the opinion of the others came from."

He looked indignant at my brother, "маленький убийца is a good nickname, it's a fable jab."

Corey sighs, "Did you mean noble job?"

Raven shrugs, "Da."

Marc still sneered, "I won't trust a killer."

Sang appeared to be unaffected by these words but her sad, sad eyes gave her away. It was just for a split second I saw her mask fall. Sang never wanted to be a killer and Marc here was just reconfirming what she thought of herself. I could practically see her retreating deep inside her shell, hiding behind her assassin mask.

I was about to go off on Marc when Silas, our usually peaceful brother, did it for me, "Marc, listen to your words. You are υποκριτικός?"

North says the word in English, "Hypocritical."

Silas nods in direction of North, "You kill, what makes you different. You ask for explanations, yet you do not allow her to speak." He was getting in Marc's face, being considerably taller than him. "If you can't get your head out of your ass, then leave now."

I wonder when Silas learned that expression. Owen cleared his throat, "Axel, get your brothers under control."

Looking at Sang, it broke my heart. The hurts had hit home and nothing would stop them from hurting her. Sometimes, I feel like Raven has the right idea, some people just need to punched in the face to understand. Marc is one of those people.

Still, the little bird proudly stood besides Owen, "I promised you answers, Leader Man, despite Asshole's actions, I am still willing to do so." Luke once more burst out laughing as well as Gabe and Sean, even Owen smirked, at Sang's nicknames.

Axel cleared his throat glaring at his brother, "Yes. We were all quite curious on how you met Raven and Corey."

With her head held high like the queen of the world, she gave him her answer, "It is quite simple. I was told to kill them."

And hell broke loose. Both Teams were yelling and getting close to fighting. It was funny to see how with ten words Sang causes chaos. Sometimes, I think she does it on purpose or she truly doesn't understand diplomacy.

Marc was yelling, "See, she kills!"

Corey yelled right back at his brother, "But she didn't!"

Owen appeared to be contemplating murder, "It isn't any of your business."

Brandon got in on the action, "I think it is our business when it's our brothers getting threatened."

All of us were so focused on arguing, no one noticed Sang slipping out followed by Corey and Raven. I was the first to notice and I did see the humour that both of us were fully trained but no one saw. I am beginning to think we have to go back to training.

Five minutes later and still no one has noticed. I had sat down on one of the open chairs as this argument wasn't about to stop. It was the three of the Toma Team vs. us, but some of my brothers were wary of Sang still. It's really easy to see Sang and forget the assassin, but reality has hit them in the face. They need to get this all out of their system.

All of it came to a stop when Sang entered the room backed up by Corey and Raven, "Shut up, all of you!" And shut up everyone did.

Corey pushed past Sang, "It's embarrassing that all of you were so focused on arguing that no one noticed that we left. And I mean, Raven is hard to miss and you all did just that. Axel, you wanted answers and were trying to give them. Marc and Brandon, you need to be quiet and listen."

His brothers looked at Raven who shrugged, "Da."

Sang cleared her throat to get everyone's attention, "I will simply be giving the answers to how I know your brothers. I do not feel like explaining the shit that has happened to me. I don't know three of you and the others are my boyfriend's brothers. I have no responsibility to give you anything, but I am. Understood?"

Axel and the others nodded, "Yes."

Sang pushed by everyone to get to Owen, "So, where should I start? Let's get something clear, I am an assassin, but not by choice! I don't need your judgement. Until today, I worked for the Albanian Mob. I was 17 years old the first and only time I ran into Raven and Corey. I had just finished my training and this was my first assignment. They had me properly threatened and scared of punishment to do this. I was supposed to kill one Eugene Ravenstahl and his lover, Corey, for messing around with business."

Axel frowned, "We didn't have any assignment that had to do with the Albanians."

Sang shrugged, "Everything has to do with them. I planned to kill them when they went for a date together, followed by a romantic walk. I was following them all day and during that day, my conscience decided to appear. I knew that they were probably working for the government in exchange for not getting arrested, but the pair looked so happy. So, instead of killing them, I approached them and told them I was an assassin sent to kill them."

Marc snorted, "How well did that go down?"

Sang grimaced, "Not very. Raven tried to kill me, but Corey convinced him not to. I told them to stop digging around whatever they were doing and leave the country for a month. That way I could say that I tried to kill them but failed and that the two were scared they fled. I would lie to avoid punishment. I spent only an hour in their company. We split and they listened to me."

Axel comments, "Is that why you two left in panic during a mission?"

Corey nodded, "We knew that Sang, or as we called her, the mysterious bird could get in trouble, so we listened."

She continued, "That was the last and only time I ever met your brothers, Leader Man. To resume in case some of you aren't that smart, I was sent to kill them, but didn't, saving their lives."

Corey walked over to me and got pretty close, "Did you get punished, Sang?"

The look on her face answered that question, but she brushed it off, "It was only my first mission, so it wasn't that bad."

Lie!

Sang cannot lie for the life of her and everyone knew. Her mask of composure had broken for a second, but no one pushed her on it. They all knew it was bad and like that, the Toma Team forgave her for any "wrongs" they thought she might have done. it had been clear that Raven and Corey saw Sang as a little sister. If they didn't, Owen wouldn't have let them anywhere near his girlfriend.

After all, that's the reason why Owen trusts us around Sang. I know our leader's possessiveness. He trusts us to see her like a sister, not steal her away from him. Despite all of his coldness, I know that Owen is fearful of being abandoned, left behind, never good enough. It's a fear we can all understand, and that's why all of us will force ourselves to see her only as a sister, nothing more.

Sang got her emotions under control, "Now that all the serious shit is done, can we get some food? I'm fucking starving."

Like that, the tension is gone and everything is as normal as possible. Owen chuckles, "Only you, darling, only you."

Sang smirks at her boyfriend, "Damn right, only me! Now where is the food?"

She leads most of our teams out of the room to hunt for food. The ones who stayed behind are myself, Owen, Axel, Marc and Brandon. We apologize to each other for our reactions simply before rejoining the group. Sean should have stayed instead of me, but he was too enamored with Sang to notice. We all are, but no one of us will do anything about.

It's just a silly little crush on a beautiful woman we can't, so it will pass.

It has to.
