Chapter Ten

~Ryder~

I watched Xavier walk off. Something happened to him when he tackled that guy down. Something was bothering him for sure. He could have talked to me. But he just shut me out and walked away again. I don’t see what his deal is lately. Yeah he has been through a lot but he just shuts everyone out who tries to help him. My phone starts to ring and I see that Xavier’s mom is trying to call. Maybe that’s why he just stormed off. “Hello?” I asked. “Oh thank god Ryder. Will you give the phone to Xavier? I need to talk to him.” “Um, Ms. Reed. He just left. I can tell him you called though. What’s going on?” “Ryder, I just need to talk to him ASAP. I only hid what I did from him because Xavier would be in danger. Just tell him to call me. Ok?” She cried out. “Yeah of course.” I responded and she hung up. Why would Xavier be in danger? “Um Sutton, Callum… Can you get your own ride home?” I asked. “Yeah. Why what is going on?” Callum asked. “It’s nothing. I’ll call you later.” I said and ran into my car. I stepped on the gas and my tires squealed on the dirt. I need to find him, Whatever his mom was talking about has me worried to death. I drove home and looked through the house but he wasn’t here. Where could he be? Unless he didn’t run then he wouldn’t be here for quite a while. I kept calling and calling but no reply. Few more hours went by and still nothing. I tried calling again but he never picked up. This time it went straight to voicemail. The front door comes open and I ran out into the foyer.  Oh thank god it’s Xavier. I ran up and gave him a big hug. “What’s that for?” He asked trying to breathe from my hug. “I called and called. You had me worried sick.” I pointed out. “Oh… I am so sorry. I had my phone off. I knew you called but I decided to turn it off. I just needed time to myself.” He apologized. He gave me a kiss and walked into the kitchen. “So… What is this thing with your mom?” I asked out of the blue. He stares at me and freezes. “I just wished you would talk to me Xavier.” I said crossing my arms. “I’m sorry for shutting you out…. It’s just my mom had an affair before my dad and still with my dad. But the worst thing is he wasn’t even my dad. The guy who she had an affair with was. So I killed my fake dad.” He says walking over to me. I widen my eyes. “Was that your real dad you tackled today?” I asked still in shock. “No. That was my real dad’s brother. My uncle.” He informed me. I can’t believe this. Now I know why he is so upset and just stormed off. “Are you going to meet your real dad?” I asked nervously. He shrugged his shoulders. “I don’t know. It’s just… I have been through so much the past couple days and to take in all of this at once? It is so overwhelming.” He started to cry. I walked over and hugged him. “I know you have been through so much the past couple days. Trust me. I rather it be me who is going through this instead of you. If I could take this all away you know I would.” I pointed out. “If you can kill me that would be great.” He giggled. “Never, ever would I ever do that?” I laughed back “Come on. Let’s go to bed. I bet you are exhausted.” I told him and walked him upstairs. He took off all of his clothes except for his boxers and hopped into bed. As so did I. He laid on his side and I wrapped my arm around him to cuddle up to him. “I love you Xavier Reed.” I whispered into his ear and kissed him on his neck. “I love you more Ryder Fritz.” He mumbled. Soon enough we fell asleep.
