Chapter One

~Xavier~

It has been two months since my mom and sister left to go to Los Angeles. We have been calling each other every day. But when I am busy or she is busy, she understands. Me and Ryder are still going strong and better than ever. We are waiting to get married until we are both ready for that. I mean we are still young to get married. Well not really young. We are eighteen. I have been performing at The Café every Friday night. Faye just loves my voice. I don't know what it is with people loving my voice so much. Ryder loves it that's only because he loves my voice in bed. Just kidding. He actually loves both. Werewolves are horny all the time. So are Coyotes. If they don't get nothing for a few days their mind goes crazy. Ryder bought all new furniture for the house and bought me a car. The car was a 2015 Kia Optima. I told him I was going to return the car but he threatened to kill me. Then we attacked each other. We are always rough with each other ever since I turned. It's actually fun to be rough and not afraid of getting hurt. Bay and Logan are together secretly. Like every animal can smell that. Are they dumb? She can lose her job. Even though she is rich and don't have to work. She still does. Then there is Sutton who had a new boyfriend. His name is Ash Green. They met at a party like a week after I was allowed to stay here. I have a bad feeling all the time about him. Maybe it is the fact that he is a bad boy. But at least he treats Sutton well. That's all that matters. Maybe it is just an act? Then there is Caiden and Jayden! Adorable couple. Caiden is Jayden's mate. I and Caiden are actually getting closer. He has not told his dad about Jayden and him being together. I wouldn't either. Caiden's dad would kill Jayden just to watch Caiden cry. But we are coming up with a plan to get Caiden out of there. He doesn't deserve to live there anymore. He can stay with Jayden. It is a dangerous plan but oh well. Whatever it takes. The other plan we have is working for my father. I have been getting closer with him just to figure out his plans with the hunters. He doesn't know I am just using him. I told him I wanted to give him another chance but I was scared of what would happen. What he would do to my friends and me. His answer was if they are close to me, then he wouldn't kill them. But we all know that was a big fat lie. All I learned so far is that they are killing the werewolf's little at a time so they won't get suspicious. And they are using young people to help them. That is what took me by surprise. Like 12-16 Year olds killing werewolf's. What is wrong with these hunters? They have no heart what so ever. Right now it is a Monday and I am in Calculus. I suck at math so much. Oh and there is this new kids that just walked in the class. Let's listen so I can get his name. "Class this is Jeremy Anderson. Take your seat right next to Xavier. Xavier Hun, raise your hand." She looked at me and I raised my hand. Jeremy looks at me and smiles. He has dark brown hair and bright green eyes. Damn those eyes though. He looks about tall as Ryder and muscular just like him. "Hi, I am Xavier obviously." I said turning to him with my hand out. He looked down at my hand and smile back shaking it. "You engaged?" He asked raising an eyebrow. "I am." I smiled back. "Who's the lucky gal?" He asked. "You mean who is the lucky guy?" I corrected him. He looked at me shocked. "My bad." He giggled. "Who is the lucky guy?" He added. "Ryder fritz." "Is that whose pictures are all over the trophy case out in the hall by the principal's office?" He asked looking at me still in shock. I nodded to his answer. The bell ringed. "Come on I'll show you around. Let me see your schedule." I demanded. We started to walk out of the room and notice all his classes are with me. Well that is not creepy at all. "We have all the same classes. Lunch is next so you get to meet all of my friends." I smiled at Jeremy walking to my locker. "Why are people all staring at me?" Jeremy asked. "Probably because you are new." I said sarcastically. "Xavier!" Shay shouted running towards me. She pushed me against the locker and hugged me. "You are killing me Shay." I tried to breathe. She turned to look at Jeremy. And smiled at him. "Who is this guy?" She asked. "Shay Jeremy. Jeremy meet my best friend Shay." I introduced them. "Hi." They said awkwardly to each other. "Alright love birds. Lunch now." I demanded. "So where did you come from?" Shay asked Jeremy. "I moved here from New York City." He responded. "New York? What is a city boy like you doing across the United States?" I asked. "My mom wanted a new start. I guess this town was the best for her." "Jeremy, this town is not the best for anyone." Shay informed him. We all laughed. We walked into the lunch line and sat down at the table. Logan comes walking over the table. "Who is this?" Logan asked staring at Jeremy. "He is new. His name is Jeremy." I informed Logan. He nodded and sat down. "You'll get used to him. He is me and Shay's best friend. So obviously you will get used to him like we did." I informed Jeremy. He smiled and started eating. Ryder, Callum and Sutton come walking over to the table. "Hey babe." Ryder said and kissed me. "Who is this hotty?" Sutton asked looking over at Jeremy. "Guys, I am only going to say this one more time than he can greet his self. This is Jeremy and he is new. Be nice." I gave a sarcastic smirk. "Where is your boyfriend at Sutton?" Shay asked. "I actually don't know. He didn't show up today." She smiled and looked down at the table. Ryder took a bite off of my cheeseburger and gave it back to me. I looked at him and rolled my eyes. "You know you can just go buy your own right?" I asked him. "Now what will be the fun in that?" He asked sarcastically. I giggled and shoved my cheeseburger in his mouth. Everyone started laughing. "Don't make me start a food fight because I will and you know it." He informed. I ignored him and ate my fries. I was trying to listen to what Shay and Jeremy was talking about but Ryder kept squeezing on my thigh. I slapped his hand away but he came back doing it again. I tried to ignore him but he kept getting closer and closer to my wonderland. "Stop." I whispered to him. He leaned down and breathe on my ear. I got a tingly feeling going down my spine when he did that. "Come to the bathroom with me." He demanded. "Shay can you show Jeremy around and take him to the café shop after school?" I asked. "Of course." She smiled. I got up from the table and Ryder followed me. No one is in the hallway at this moment so I ran towards the bathroom and Ryder started running behind me. I looked and seen if anyone was in the bathroom and I whispered coast is clear. He pushed me against the wall and started kissing me. He pulled on my bottom lip teasing it. I let out a moan in his mouth. He lifted me up putting me on the sink. He started kissing my neck when the door opened. I looked over and Jeremy's eyes got real big. "Um... Shay showed me where the bathroom is." He said awkwardly. I started laughing in against Ryder's forehead. "It's cool. We were just leaving anyways." I said and hopped down of the sink. "See you later Jeremy." Ryder said and we walked out of the bathroom. "That must have been awkward for the new boy." I laughed. "Where are we going?" I asked confused. "We are skipping last period so I can take you somewhere." He smiled and we got into his car. Ryder always drives me to school unless he has to be somewhere that is when I drive my car too school. I never ask him where we are going anymore. Because he knows I will keep asking. So I just stopped asking. He also knows I hate surprises. Always have. We drove for about an hour and entered a small town. What in the world are we doing at this town? We pull up to a diner and we got out. "What we doing here?" I asked confused. "My mom's sister owns this diner." He smiled and grabbed my hand. "We are engaged and I still learn new things about you." I giggled. "Ryder?!" Shouted a lady with long black hair behind the counter. She came from behind the counter and ran towards him. "Hi auntie." He smiled at her. She hugged him so tight his face began to turn red. "Auntie this is Xavier. My boyfriend." He introduced us. "OH MY LORD! HE IS CAAAAUUUUTEEEEE!" She shouted and hugged me tight. "At least let my Fiancé breath." He shoved her off. She looked at him and looked back at me. She looked down at my hand and her eyes widen. "OH MY GOD!" She says excitedly and hugs us both. I started to laugh. "Come on sit down and I'll get you two a piece of my famous apple pie." She smiles at us and walks towards the counter. "Is she from Texas or something?" I asked. "Yeah she just moved here a month ago." He responded. She handed us a piece of pie and told us to enjoy. I took one bite and fell in love. Oh my god. I think I am in heaven. This pie is the best thing I have ever tasted in my entire life. Well besides tasting Ryder but we are not talking about that. The pie is so crisp. No wonder she calls it famous apple pie. "Are you in love with that pie?" Ryder asked and his Aunt looked at me. I nodded and kept eating. "Can I have more?" I mumbled still eating. She laughed loudly. "Of course sweetie. I'll make you a couple pies and you can take them home with you. We are family now." She smiles and went into the back. Ryder started laughing. "What?" I mumbled with pie in my mouth. "You have a little something." He tells me and wipes his thumb over my lip. I start to blush. She hands me another piece of pie and tells me the other pies will be ready soon and she will box them up for me. I would so have her make me 20. I would pay her for every single one too. Couple more minutes went by and she walks out with three boxes. Three pies? WHAT?! Oh my god I am going to get fat. Ryder starts laughing hysterically. "Oh stop it Ryder! He is a skinny boy. Way to skinny. He can have all the pie he wants!" She shouted at him. "Yeah Ryder. I can have all the pie I want." I said sarcastically. He rolled his eyes. "Don't you dare roll those eyes!" She smacked him over the head. I started laughing then she smacked my head. "NO LAUGHING." She says and puts her hands on her hips. "Auntie I am sorry but we have to go. I have to take Xavier to work." Ryder informed her. "Well alright. Xavier come back for more pie!" She shouted. I nodded and smiled. We walked out and got into the car. I open up one of the boxes and took a plastic fork eating some more pie. "Really? That stuff is not that addicting Xavier. Plus if you eat to much you will get sick. I did on thanksgiving two years ago. I ate five pieces and threw up." Ryder informed. I looked at him and took one last bite. I put the fork into the box and closed it up. We drove back into town and headed towards the Café. "You care to pick me up at 7 when I get off?" I asked. "Yeah, of course." Ryder smiled and leaned in to kiss me. I wrapped my arms around his neck to kiss him harder. He wanted access but I pulled away. "I have to go but this isn't over." I informed him giving him another kiss. "Bye, Love you." I said and shut the door. I walk into the café and see Shay and Jeremy laughing at each other. Those two look like they could be a couple. I went into the back and grabbed my apron and tried to listen to what Shay and Jeremy was talking about. "Oh my god! You did that?" Shay laughed hysterically. "I didn't mean to pee my pants. I got scared!" Jeremy laughed along." Ok that is enough listening onto their conversation. I walked back in the front and started taking orders. "Hi can I get a French vanilla Cappuccino with double expresso and make that a large." Said a girl in ribbed skinny jeans and a leather jacket. "You going out tonight?" I asked. "Yeah there is this party at some chick's beach house. So I need something to stay awake." She giggled. I got her order and she handed me the money. "Be careful, last time I went to one of her parties, three people ended up dead." I informed her. "I know. I seen that." She laughed. "Rene's parties are a little bit crazy." I laughed along. I handed her the drink. "You are engaged and still in high school?" She asked looking at my hand. "I am a senior and yes I am engaged. My boyfriend had to stop me someway so I didn't move to Los Angeles." I giggled. "I'm Riaan." She says. "Xavier." I smiled. "Well see you around Xavier." She smiles and walks out. I walked over to Shay and Jeremy still laughing. "Hey love birds. How is the little date going?" I asked. "This is...." Shay began to say but Jeremy interrupted. "It's going good." Jeremy smiled at Shay. She started to blush. The bell ringed on the door. "I got a costumer so I'll leave you love birds alone." I smiled and walked back to the counter. "What can I get you?" I asked. "A large black coffee please." He said and I pored him a large black coffee. "2.50" I demanded. He handed me the money and I notice a ring on his finger I noticed in Caiden's journal. "Have a nice night." I said and put the money into the cash register. I rushed over to Shay. "I need to steal her for one sec." I grabbed shay by the arm and pulled her into the back. "That guy that just ordered a coffee, he had a ring on his finger that I seen in Caiden's journal." I informed Shay. "Ring? You mean the death ring?" She asked confused. "YES!" I shouted. "But... That can't be.... Only the bad wolf hunters have those." Shay gulped. "Looks like we have danger walking in this town." I crossed my arms. "Xavier?" Called Faye. "Coming!" I shouted. "Be careful." I said and ran to find Faye. "Yes?" I said running to her. "Can you close up tonight? I have to go run some errands before I got home tonight." She asked me. "Yeah I'll just text Ryder to come at 8 instead then. No biggy." I smiled at her. "Thank you! You are a life saver!" She said and ran out of the café.

Going to be closing up at eight. So pick me up then. - Xavier

I smiled and put my phone back in my pocket. I kept taking order and more order. Finally five more minutes until I close up.

Going to be running 5 minutes late. Had to drop off Callum at a party. -Ryder

Okay. No big deal. - Xavier

I put my phone back in my pocket and started cleaning up the tables. "I am going to take Jeremy home. You going to be ok?" Asked Shay. "Yeah but I would be better if you help clean these tables first." I gave them puppy dog eyes. "Fine." She sighed and started cleaning tables with Jeremy. "I'll finish the tables if you take the trash." I smiled at them. They rolled their eyes and grabbed the trash from the cans and went to the back. I started wiping the tables and the doorbell dings. "Sorry we are closed." I said turning around. They guy with the death ring comes walking in. "I said we are close sir." I said once again. "That's ok." He says locking the door. "You better get your ass out of here before I call the cops." I said and searched for my phone. God it's over at the cash register. I look over at the Cash register and back at him. I decided to run for it. Right before I got there he grabbed me and slammed be backwards. "I can see you are a wolf." He informs. "You're wrong about that." I said. I kicked him off of me and jumped up. He threw a punch but I blocked it. I ran for the counter and jumped over it. He threw a mug over my head. I ran across the café. God I can't turn. Too risky for the new kid to see. I ran to the bar stool cracked it over my knee. Death rings are in the hold of demons. So here we go. I punched him in the throat and stabbed him in the heart. He started to turn older and older. Then he turned to ash. Leaving the ring on the ground with the ash. I look up and Shay and Jeremy are staring right at me. Shit.

"Um.... I... Can explain this Jeremy....." I stuttered. "Don't worry about it I seen worst." He informs shaking his head up and down. Me and Shay and looked at him confused. "What do you mean?" I asked. "In NYC, The person who killed my dad had the same ring. But then I killed him and he turned into ash." He informed us. "How'd you know to kill him with a wooden stick though?" Shay asked Jeremy. "I didn't. I just grabbed what was close and did it." He smiled. "Well, looks like we have our self a new friend Shay." I laughed. "What's going on?" Ryder asked running in. "Oh nothing just a bad hunter trying to kill me again." I smiled at Ryder. "The ring? He had a ring?" Ryder asked picking it up. "DON'T PICK IT UP!" I said slapping it on the ground. "Your head is bleeding." Ryder said touching my forehead. I whimpered in the pain. "Here I got it." Jeremy said grabbing the first aid kit in the office. He started to clean the blood up and Ryder looked at him. I grabbed Ryder's had and squeezed it. "He is straight Ryder. Also He is interested in Shay. I mean look at her. She is hot." I laughed. Shay slapped my arm. I laughed harder. Jeremy finishes bandaging up my forehead and slaps my head after that. "OW!" I shouted. "Ryder attack." I laughed. He nodded and about grabbed him by the throat. "RYDER I WAS KIDDING!" I shouted at him. "Oh...." He said awkwardly. "You silly goon." I winked at him. Shay and Jeremy started laughing. I wasn't actually kidding..... I mean that would be bad if he actually did it. And I can have Jeremy dying. He is my new friend. No way Jose. "Well we are going to go. So see you later." Shay says and pulling Jeremy out of the café. "Let's clean this mess up and we can go." I patted him on the shoulder and grabbed a broom out of the back. I swept up the stuff and put the ring in a little baggy so I can stake it to Bay in the morning. I locked up the Café and we headed home.
