Chapter Nine

~Xavier~

Jace ran off like he was about to get killed. What is so wrong for what he did? There is something about him. And I am going to find out what it is. I mean he seems like a cool guy. What’s bad with that? “What happened?” Shay asked. “I confronted him and he got scared I guess.” I responded. “Well don’t just stare. Go after him. He is running into the woods. You will be safe. No one will see you.” Ryder informed. I nodded. I started running after him and ran into the woods. I have his scent on my hand. Now I’ll be able to track him. I ran for half a mile and the scent ended. I looked around and he is nowhere to be found. “What are you?” Someone said from behind me. I gulped. I turn around and seen Jace standing there. “I’m Xavier. Obviously.” I said sarcastically. “No…. You are something. No one that is not human can track me like that, nor run fast like that.” “I don’t know what you are talking about Jace.” “Don’t play dumb with me.” “I am not playing dumb with you. But you’re good at playing dumb, right?” “I just can’t tell you Xavier. Ok? It’s not that hard to understand.” “And I can’t just tell you either Jace. Is it that hard to understand?” “I’m serious Xavier. I can’t tell you. There will be too much at stake for me.” “It’s not like I am going to tell anyone Jace. Please this town is full of secrets and I am one of them. And so are you.” I smiled at him. “It’s too dangerous if I tell you. The last person I told was killed. Do you want to die?” He raised an eyebrow. “Please, you know how many times I about have died in the past couple months?” I laughed. He sighed and rolled his eyes. “Look...” He said and walked closer to me. He took off his top part of his suit. My eyes widen. He had burns, scars and whelps all over him. He turned around and he had more whelps on him from a whip it looked like. I walked over and felt his scars. “What happened?” I asked nervously. “My father. He was a wolf. Well he got turned into one. Then the hunters showed up and kidnapped me. They made me suffer. They forced me to do things. Things that I didn’t want to do.  They beat me. Then weeks later my dad showed up. He finally found me. They killed him right in front of me. They killed my mom in front of me also. Then they drugged me and left me to die. Until one person came and saved me. He nurtured me back to health and taught me how to protect myself. Now I hunt down the hunters and kill them.” He informed me. I gulped. I tried to figure out what to say but I couldn’t say anything. “Now, you are going to tell me what you are.” Jace demanded. “I’m a banshee. But…. I’m also a…. Coyote.” I stuttered. “How can you be both?” He asked confused. “I was a banshee before I turned into a coyote. I was born a banshee. But then like 5 months ago everything changed when I got mated with my mate. I about died and my sister had to save me. By putting her blood over my womb. Wolf blood and Cougar blood does not go good together I went through hell before it went away. The pain was terrible. But that is how I became what I am today. To be honest, I wouldn’t change it for the world.” I smiled. He put his top back on and turned back to me. “You know. You’re not too bad of a person.” He smiled at me. I smiled back. “Come on. I’ll introduce you to everyone.” I gestured. We walked back towards the track. “How long have you and your fiancé been together?” He asked. “Like I said five months.” I giggled. “That’s fast to be getting married.” He said. He sounded Jealous. Why did he sound jealous? “We are waiting to get married until we are done with high school and off to college.” I informed. He nodded. We walked back towards the group. “Everyone this is Jace. Jace this is Shay, Sutton, Callum, Shay’s lover Jeremy, Caiden, Jayden, and lastly my fiancé.” I introduced all of them. Shay punches me in the stomach. “He is not my lover... Well not yet.” She winks over at Jeremy. I suddenly had the urge to scream. Someone bad is near. I turned around and looked through the crowd. “What’s wrong?” Ryder asked. I told him to be quiet and started walking. “Xavier!” Ryder shouted. I ignored him and kept walking. I see a guy stare at me and turn around. He began to walk really fast and so did I. He turned back and started to run. I ran after him. I got faster and faster and tackled him to the ground. “What the hell are you doing watching me?” I asked. “Your father sent me. I’ve been watching you since you were a baby Xavier.”

I stared at him in shock. What the hell does he mean? “My father is dead. He died yesterday.” I informed him. “Yeah I cleaned up that mess. I am talking about your real father. Your mother had an affair with my brother. I’m your uncle.” He informed me. I looked at him confused. “My mother would never cheat.” I pointed out fiercely. “She didn’t cheat. Your mother and my brother was a couple before he even showed up in the picture. He stole her away from him. He told him if he ever came around her again he would kill him. So they snuck around secretly. That is when she got pregnant. It was my brothers.” “So you’re saying that my mom wasn’t cheating? She still was technically cheating.” “She never wanted to be with that… Yeah…. But she could never tell him until he left. And that’s what he did. He left. And your father wanted to come be with your mother at last. But your so called other father told him to stay away and he was always watching. He didn’t know he had a brother so he sent me to watch over you all these years.” “You are on drugs! You better get the hell away from me!” I shout and pushed him away. “Is he bothering you?” Asked Ryder running up to me. “No. He was just leaving.” I responded. He nodded and walked towards his car. “Why did you tackle him?” Ryder asked. “He was staring at me. And I did not like it.” I smiled at him and walked back towards the group. “I think I’m going to go home. I don’t feel too good. See you at school Jace.” I smiled and walked off. “You know you’re going to have to wait for me right?” Ryder asked. “I just need time alone. I’m going to walk.” I gave him a kiss and turned back around to walk home. I couldn’t stop thinking about what that guy said. If he is really my uncle then my father wasn’t actually my father. And my so called “Real” Father is close to here obviously. I just can’t believe my mom would lie this whole time about him. Wait, how do I know if he is actually telling the truth? I grabbed my phone out of my back pocket and dialed my mom’s number. “Hey baby. What’s up? She answered the phone. “Why the hell didn’t you tell me you had an affair? And my real dad is out there?” “Xavier honey, what are you talking about?” “You know damn right what I am talking about mom. Don’t play dumb with me.” “Xavier…. You don’t understand.” “Save it mom. You don’t have to explain anything.” I responded and hung up the phone. I can’t believe this. I trusted her and she has been lying to me all this time. Why would she even lie about that? I just don’t understand.
