The Only Girl in the Band...[Part 17]
"Hey everyone. Today is Day 1 of the Bamboozle tour," I said, holding a camera up to my face. "We're actually still in Beverly Hills, packing up the big ol' tour bus. Boys are last minute packers, you know," I said, walking out of Caleb's place out to the tour bus. "And here she is! Our guide and companion for the summer; Youtubers, I'd like you to meet Scarlett," I announced, patting our shiny new tour bus. "Say hello, Scarlett," I told the bus. I held the camera to the bus and then put it back on me. "Did you guys hear that? No, of course you didn't. If you did then something must be wrong with you because buses don't talk," I said, grinning cheekily. "Oh look! Here's Liam, holding a fresh new packet of drumsticks!" I said as Liam walked over. I reached up and put and arm around his shoulder. "Say hi, Liam!" I told him.
"Hi, Liam!" he said, smiling into the camera. I shook my head at the corny joke.
"Tell the fans, are you excited to go on this tour?" I asked Liam.
"Hell yeah I am! I'm super stoked," he replied.
"Hear that, Youtubers? Super stoked. As am I. It'll be three months of doing what we love. Which is what? Can you tell us Liam?" I asked.
"Getting drunk, babyy," he said, smirking at the camera. I rolled my eyes at him.
"And by getting drunk he means playing music for the fans," I clarified.
"Right," he said, winking. I shook my head laughing.
"Well, that's all for this video. Stay tuned for some more shenanigans brought to you by the one and only...The Velocity..." I said. And with that, I pressed the record button to strom recording. "Sweet. And I'll just upload this to Youtube..." I said to myself. "Done! First tour video is up!" I announced as the rest of the boys came up to us.
"Aw man! I wanted to be in it," Camron said.
"Next time, buddy," Liam said, patting his shoulder. I smiled at them all.
"This is so exciting! I can't believe we're actually going on tour!" I exclaimed giddily.
"We've been over this. Believe it," Caleb replied.
"First stop is LA. That's going to be a sick show," Ian said. We all turned as Paul walked towards us.
"All packed and ready to go?" he asked. He was wearing a pair of khaki shorts and a black polo and a baseball cap. If people didn't know him any better, they would have thought he was our age, even though he was about 6 years older than all of us.
"Yeah, I think we're all ready," Caleb answered.
"Great. Let's get this show on the road then!" he said.
"Wait! Where's Mae?!" I asked as we all started climbing onto the bus.
"Here! I'm here!" we heard Mae call. She ran towards us, her phone and purse in her hands.
"Where were you?" I asked.
"I was talking to my parents," she replied.
"Ah," I said, nodding. Then I turned. "Now let's go!" I said, hopping onto the tour bus.
"Ooo, this is nice," Mae commented, stepping on board.
"I know, right? It's so clean and shiny," I said giddily.
"Get a good look at it all nice and clean right now, ladies. It won't be like that for long," Paul said, coming up behind us.
"Yeah. All these boys and just us two girls," I said.
"You two can keep it clean. It's what you're supposed to do," Ian said cockily, sitting down on one of the leather seats by the window. Mae and I both hit his arm and he laughed. A bald, burly man wih a goatee walked onto the bus.
"Everyone, meet Stan. He's our driver," Paul said, putting an arm around the man.
"Hey Stan!" we all chorused together.
"Hey, kids," he replied, waving at us.
"Ok. Well, if we're all ready to go..." Paul said, stepping down and closing the door. "Let's do this!" he yelled. We all cheered. With that, Stan started the engine and the tour bus roared to life. We were finally beginning our journey towards a success music career.

"Hey! I remember you guys!" Alex Gaskarth, of All Time Low, said. I nearly fainted where I was standing. I never got over how incredibly attractive Alex was. I felt like a stupid fan girl and tried to compose myself.
"Yeah, we opened for you guys in Arizona that one time," Ian replied.
"What were your names again?" Jack Barakat asked. Rian punched him in the arm.
"You're such an ass," Rian hissed at Jack. We laughed.
"It's cool. I'm Ian," Ian said.
"Caleb," Caleb said, lifting a hand and inclining his head at them.
"Liam."
"Camron."
"I'm Vanessa," I said a little breathlessly.
"Oh yeah! I remember you," Alex said, smiling sweetly at me. I felt my heart melt and my cheeks flush with color.
"I'm Mae. Best friend of Vanessa," Mae said, beaming her perfect smile at them. I saw the boys of All Time Low check her out and for a split second felt a pang of remorse for not being single. I cleared my head, though. Alex and Rian both had girlfriends. It was all good.
"You guys excited for this tour?" Alex asked us. We were all standing outside in the back parking lot of the venue we were playing at. We had to go for a soundcheck before we could go out and have fun. The actual concert was the night after.
"You have no idea, man. Literally a year ago we were sitting in our basement playing music for fun. And here we are now," Caleb answered.
"Yeah, I remember those days. When we were young," Alex said.
"All bright-eyed and bushy tailed," Jack added.
"You guys started out really early, though, didn't you?" Camron asked.
"Yeah. When we were in high school," Rian replied.
"Vanessa here just graduated from college," Liam pointed out.
"Seriously?" Alex asked, his eyebrows shooting up. I nodded sheepishly.
"Congratulations," Zack said, smiling his signature awkward goofy smile.
"Thanks," I muttered.
"What'd you major in?" Rian asked.
"Accounting," I replied.
"Wow, that sounds fascinating," Jack commented. The others laughed.
"It's a lame major, but it's helpful," I admitted.
"Are you guys going to stand out here all day? Come on! We've got soundcheck to do!" Paul exclaimed, coming up behind us. We all walked together inside the concert stadium. It was a huge stage and slightly daunting for us. We had only ever performed on small stages in front of crowds of 30 to 50 people. This was enormous. I could feel my heart beating through my chest. I was already nervous. For a moment, I felt like my stage fright came back.
"That is a huge stage," Camron breathed.
"It's awesome, isn't it? That feeling that you've finally made it to the big stage?" Alex asked us.
"Livin' the dream..." Rian added.
"There's a slight possibility that I might throw up or pee in my pants up there," I accidentally blurted out. Everyone laughed and my cheeks flushed.
"All right! Let's get rolling, kiddos," Paul said, marching to the stage in front of us. "So here's the plan: The Velocity will open with three of their songs and then All Time Low, you guys will come on stage. I think after you guys is Cobra Starship and then Good Charlotte," Paul explained. We nodded. All of us already knew this.
So we got to work. We sang some of our more popular songs, got our mics adjusted, amps fixed, earpieces made, etc, etc. Once we finished, we stuck around to listen to ATL's soundcheck. They were hilarious, shooting comments and insults about each other any chance they got. I could tell that I would enjoy touring with them. While ATL was doing their soundcheck, Cobra and Good Charlotte arrived. I turned into a giddy fan girl again when I saw Joel Madden. We all introduced ourselves to each other and chatted idly while ATL finished up. Once ATL finished, we decided to get some dinner. We decided to go to a local family-owned pizzeria. Afterwards, we hit up the hotel that we were staying in for the night. It was about 11:00 when we got there and as tired as I was, I was also extremely excited. Right now we were all grouped together in Alex and Jack's room.
"So how do you all know each other?" Alex asked. He popped open a beer bottle that Rian handed to him.
"Us guys--me, Ian, Liam, and Camron--all knew each other from high school. We met Vanessa last year," Caleb replied.
"We weren't all friends in high school, though. Caleb and Liam were. I was more friends with the jocks, I guess. Ian was a prick in high school. None of us liked him," Camron continued. I listened carefully. I actually had never asked about how they had all known each other.
"What were you? A lady killer?" Jack asked.
"No," Ian mumbled, his eyebrows narrowing slightly.
"Yeah, he was," Caleb answered.
"The biggest. He dated almost every attractive girl in our school," Liam said.
"Awesome, man. That's the way to do it," Alex said, knuckle-touching his fist with Ian.
"He only approves because he was the same way in high school," Rian said.
"I think Alex made out with every single one of Rian's girlfriends," Jack said. We all laughed and Alex smirked proudly.
"What can I say?" he said, leaning back, relaxing.
"So when does Vanessa come into the picture?" Zack asked.
"Last September. We had a different lead singer who bailed on us. Him--Bryan was his name--and Ian were the ones that started the band in the first place. We were only friends with Ian because of Bryan. But he got scouted and he left the band and we needed a new lead. So we held auditions and Vanessa tried out and she was amazing," Liam recounted. I smiled shyly at the compliment.
"So we voted and she was in the band," Camron concluded.
"You must love travelling with all boys all the time," Jack joked, nudging me with his elbow.
"It kind of sucks. But it's not that bad," I replied, smiling and looking at my fellow band members
"She has no room to complain. She's always been a tomboy herself," Mae piped up.
"Yeah?" Alex asked.
"I always found it easier to hang out with guys. They're so much less drama than girls," I explained.
"That's not true, necessarily," Rian muttered with a smile, glancing at Alex, who shoved him.
We chatted about random things for the next few hours, just drinking and talking and getting to know each other. It was fun, even though we weren't doing anything too wild. At about 3 in the morning, we called it quits and split.
The plan was that Mae and I would share a room, Caleb and Ian, and Camron and Liam. But after some convincing, I got Mae to switch rooms with Ian so that we could talk a bit. Ian and Mae switched rooms without anyone else knowing. We decided to keep mine and Ian's relationship a secret from anyone else for the time being. The entire night Ian and I tried not to let on that we were romantically involved in any way.
"What a night," Ian yawned, sitting on my bed next to me. I nodded, yawning also.
"I hope we don't have to get up early tomorrow," I said, laying down.
"Nah; Paul would have told us," Ian replied.
"Mmmm..." was all I said. I was feeling the drowsiness fall over me.
"Maybe we should just go to sleep. You're not going to be very coherent at this hour," Ian suggested. I glanced up at him as he made to get off my bed. I grabbed his arm.
"No. Stay," I mumbled. His eyebrows shot up.
"Seriously?" he asked. I nodded, my eyes half closed. He breathed deeply and lay down next to me. I moved closer to him and he put his arm around me. I nestled into the crook of his arm, warm, safe, and secure. As I fell into unconsciousness, I felt his lips brush my forehead. I fell asleep with a slight smile on my face.

A/N: Woo! It's been a while since I last updated. Good thing this one is a long one!
The picture in the sidebar is of the good-looking boys of All Time Low. Do some research if you aren't familiar with them. They'll be in this story quite a bit for the next few parts.
That's pretty much it. You know the drill: comment and vote!!
