Chapter 6 - Rayveer

"What even is this?" Maaryya says to my left. She is poking her mashed substance with a fork, an ugly frown on her forehead. I am truly impressed with how she managed to find me in this people-mess, then, of course, she always seems to have some sort of Rayveer compass built into her head.

When I don't answer her comment, she rolls her eyes at me. "Do you not think it is kind of crazy how much they have been hiding from us?"

"I guess," I say. "I am not very surprised though."

"Of course you are not." Maaryya shakes her head in a sort of disapproval and returns to her food poking. She notices that I am watching her so she puts her brown hair behind her ear in a flirty gesture. I look away and run my fingers through my hair, annoyed with her presence.

I knew there was something unusual with the leaders, with the towers. But to be honest, I could have never imagined anything like this, not even close. All those new stuff, cameras, microphones, weird clothing and all those other stuff. Absolutely insane.

Thank son the walls in here are empty and boring.

Everyone around me is laughing and chatting, way too loud for my taste. My head is still running wild from all the new information, like it refuses to take everything in. Maaryya looks pretty calm beside me, and in a way, I'm jealous of that. I would love to just be able to sit here, not to think about anything and being the most annoying person in the world.

Not really though.

Ddoriaax is nowhere to be seen. He probably went to sit with some of his friends or something. Not that I really care, I just want to get away from the girl beside me, making my world just a little bit shittier than it already is.

⧫⧫⧫

When I first realized that Ddoriaax is my roommate, I was shocked. I just ran into him for the first time earlier today. Then, I was uncomfortable. He is known for stealing and somehow getting into everyone's pants, how could I not be?

Now I do not really know what to think about him. He is pretty cynical whenever he talks, but I would not say he talks that much. At least he is definitely not a conversation starter. I really do not know how he gets all the boys and girls if he does not want to talk. And especially since everyone knows he has no intentions of actually getting together with them, on a romantic level. I cannot blame anyone though, because I can tell that whoever's into guys would fall for him and his blue eyes.

Currently, he is sitting on the floor, singing for himself and drawing in that book he brought with him. His singing voice is pretty good, a clear one you would hear at musicals.

"What did you think about the food?" I ask him, interrupting his humming.

"It was pretty good, I'm not really used to eat good food."

"Don't you live in the Uukkurs?"

"You haven't heard the rumor?" I shake my head. "Yeah, whatever. Well, my parents can't cook and we don't have a chef or anything." He states and I shrug, not actually caring about his answer.

"So, you're some kinda celebrity or what? Something with your grandfather, right?" he smirks, eyes still on his book. I let out a big breath; getting the feeling he knows I get that question a lot.

"Yes, he was a tenth and no, I do not know anything else about it."

"Relax man, I'm just fucking with you." I glare at him.

"Well, I am going to sleep." I take off my shirt and climb up the latter leading to the top bed. The matrass is hard and the actual bed infinitesimal compared to mine at home. Even though I feel like I might not sleep as well in this bed as I would have in my old bed next to Rrooc, I would never want to go back there. That house has too many bad memories. And I know that Rrooc is in good care of my maids.

"I'm not even tired yet."

"It is like 1 in the night." I yawn and pull the scratchy covers over my cold torso.

"I'm used to stay up late." He shrugs his shoulders and lays down on his back, staring up at the ceiling. I turn my head away to ignore him. The last thing I need right now is some stealing douchebag barging into my new life.

My lids are heavy as I wake up from my sleep. The clock is 4, and to my surprise, Ddoriaax is still on the floor; drawing in his book and humming some random song.

"What are you doing? It's 4!" I growl at him, my sleepy voice almost making the words stick in my throat.

"You're a pretty light sleeper, ya know that?" he smirks up at me. What the heck is wrong with this guy?

"Shut up! I'm trying to sleep."

"Calm down. Why are you so riled up? Someone forced you to come here or what?" he closes his book like he thinks him and I are about to have some conversation.

Yeah right.

"I came here myself. I want to be here, and do you know what else I want to do? Sleep!"

"Then sleep."

I run my fingers along my face and shoot my body up. "I cannot sleep when you are singing and probably stalking me! Just freaking go to bed."

"I'm not stalking on you. I'm not some creep, whatever you might think." He says calmly. My fingers itch with frustration and I crack them as hard as I can, hoping to piss him off.

"Just go to sleep."

"Hey, I'm sorry if I offended you or something. But do you see me forcing you to stay awake just because I might be lonely? No. So stop forcing me to go to sleep just because you feel uneasy about me being awake. I promise I'm not looking at you or masturbating or something." He smiles to himself at his last comment. I don't bother answering, just bury myself under my pillow and try to fall asleep again.

Even though I am more than tired, I can't seem to shut my eyes. Just a couple of minutes in and Ddoriaax has started humming again, not to mention the scraping sound of a pencil against paper. I bite the inside of my cheek to stop myself from screaming at him. I'm not in the mood to fight or even speak with him again, at least not this very night. Why can't he just shut up and let me sleep?

⧫⧫⧫

I wake to the sound of some sort of beep, and I soon realize that it must be the clock. It shows it's a quarter to eight, which I guess is enough time to get ready now that we have gotten planned outfits and all. I stretch and climb down my bed. Ddoriaax is still snoring on the floor, where he fell asleep late last night. I will let him lay there for a while, just so he wakes up about the time we really have to go. That is what he will get for making me sleep only three hours.

My body aches for its usual morning run, but that is nothing I can achieve right now. Instead, I form my body into the perfect structure for doing some pushups. I have not been doing any in a while, so the feeling of working muscles puts a smile on my face.

When drops of sweat tingle my neck and forehead, I stand up, knowing that it would not be much appreciated if I came to the meeting stinking. There is no bathroom in here, so no showers, not even a sink or toilet. So I have to use my shirt as a towel, drying the sweat. I cringe as I do. I'm not used to this stuff; I'm used to luxury, expensive food and hot showers every morning. I guess if this is what I wanted, this is what I'll get.

The clothes in the bag are gray and loose, and how they knew my size, I do not know. The fabric is soft at least, cool and relaxing against my warm skin. As I suspected, I see no mirror anywhere and so it is impossible for me to check the way I look. I try not to care, even though I wish to fix my undoubtedly messy hair. To be sure I do not look like a complete dork, I run my fingers through the mess, hoping it will turn out better.

"Ddoriaax!" I kick him in the stomach and he wakes immediately, his eyes starry but bright. "We have to go now, ten minutes till the meeting starts."

"Are you kidding me?" he says. "Why didn't you wake me up earlier?"

"There was an alarm, but you slept through it. Thought that maybe you could make up for the hours you kept me awake."

"C'mon." stumbling up to his legs, he hunts for his bag, which I hid under the bed when he fell asleep.

"Bye," I say and walk out the door, leaving my heartbreaker roommate behind. As yesterday, the hallway is filled with teenagers. I walk among them, passing door after door. There are cameras in here, and I feel like someone is following my every step; which someone probably is. I shudder at the thought. I am used to media and paparazzi, but when I cannot see them? That is when it gets creepy.

Guards are waiting in every corner, ready to give advice and provide directions. I do not bother; Instead, I follow the stream, hoping for the best. We all end up in the same hall; the grand hall I think they called it. The same three guards, the mains, are already ready on the scene; patiently waiting for everyone to come in. I take a place at the far end, leaning against the cold wall.

"Good morning everyone!" the woman says. "And welcome to your very first information meeting. I know some of you are hungry and ready to use the restroom, but no can do right now. We have to go through with this information first. As you all know, you are here to develop your ikooraash; the supernatural abilities you possess. There are many steps to this, steps that we will teach when the moment is right.

"For now, you have only one practice or exercise. This will start directly after breakfast, so be sure to eat the right amount. Your first practice is what we call the physical training. You will be learning different techniques for fighting. In the future, those techniques will help you develop the ikooraash. After lunch, there will be blood tests and other checks to make it easier for your brain and mind to train. We promise that none of these things are illegal or dangerous, or else we would not attempt them on you."

"You will be paired; you and your roommate with another bedroom set." One of the men says. "Those are the people you will train with for most of your experience here, though there will be bigger groups of people. Call it classes, if you will. There are exactly 26 groups with around 50 people in each one. That might sound like a lot, but I promise you it is not. Our trainers are really great and methodical, and we hope you will like them. Just like yesterday guards will greet you as you walk out of here. You will get another paper with a schedule and which other pairings you will work with. Remember to ask if you have any questions."

"Now, you can all go eat." The last one says. And just like that, the hall is filled with chaos.
