*DID I JUST POSTED SOMETHING THAT NOBODY KNEW OF??

...Yes, I did. Mainly because I had a huge brain fart during this long hiatus. But, now I'm gonna try to be consistent, heck, I'm even gonna write down my chapter ideas first before actually writing these down.
To anyone who doesn't know me, hey there! I hope you like this fanfic!*

The sun rose to the peak of the mountain, finally shining in your room. However, that didn't stop your slumber, as you still were tired from yesterday's all-nighters.

This year was when you started to do all-nighters, which made your sleeping schedule a tad bit messy. You never were really that put up with following some schedule, as a free bird you managed to make your schedule, with no rush whatsoever. So, you can believe that the extra work wasn't too keen for you.

The warmth of the sun's light comforted you during your deep sleep, making it more difficult for you to wake up. That is until you felt a slimy thing touching your face.

You shrieked and rapidly, almost flying, you sat up on your bed. You threw the thing away, hearing a loud thud as it hit the wall

"Lance what in the actual fuck!" You yelled at whoever did lick you suddenly, earning a look from the said person, well... creature

Lance hopped closer towards you, using his sticky pads, slowly helping him walk up to the bed again. His tongue still stuck out from his mouth from them hitting you with their adhesive tongues. As it walked over you, you rubbed your eyes to wake up a little bit more.

"You should be thankful to me instead of throwing me across the room!" Lance stated back to you as he looked up at you. As you finished rubbing your eyes, you looked down at your froggy companion. The small green creature looked up at you and sighed as they slowly walked closer to you until they managed to sit on your lap.

"This is the 6th time this week I woke you up. Don't you think you work too much?" They said as he looked at you with their brown eyes worriedly.

It was true, day by day you have been working more and more later than before. You looked away from him awkwardly as you slowly uncovered yourself and shifted to sit on the end of the bed, Lance still looking at you worriedly.

"You think so too? But... I really can't stop overworking and you know too well why." You looked down at his petite figure as he looked down thoughtfully, shutting themselves up for the time being. You groaned from being too tired.

You sluggishly put on your slippers as you stood up and slowly but surely walked out of your bedroom, Lance hopping behind you, wary of your every step, not wanting to repeat something. After all, there is that one time, where you - still sleepy - stepped on him. After you felt something squishy under you, you got scared and over and over apologized to him for it, on your knees and all. He kindly accepted your apology, but it's still a moment that you, especially him, would NOT want to repeat.

As you walked to the kitchen with him, you checked your phone to see if you missed anything lately.

Favorite artist updated... A friend just had their first baby... Congrats on that...

"Huh..." You said out loud as you stopped at the entrance to the kitchen. Lance hopped to your leg and climbed up to your arm.

"What is it?" He looked at you and then at your phone.

He was able to see that you were looking at a report about the local zoo. Your eyes were focused mainly on the keywords of the writing.

"Animals running out of the zoo... Sudden puffs of smoke and bubbles... No opened cages..." You said out loud as you were deep in thought.

"Puffs of smoke and bubbles... Isn't it the same as- " Lance said as he looked up at you, you finally looking at him and moving, your gaze having a worried expression.

"It is. And I hope it's not at the same time." You said worriedly as you grabbed some pancake mix, two bowls, one smaller than the other, and a bag of bugs as well.

You put Lance down as you poured the bugs for him in a bowl. Him looking at it in disgust. As you saw him make the face you laughed a little at him.

"You're still not ok with the bugs? Even after so long?" You said to him as you started the pancake mix.

"No, and I will never be. Even though they are full of protein, their little legs down my throat makes me gag." Lance said, still disgusted.

"That sounds really sad. But when we tried an alternative, you looked more disgusted at the bug shake I came up with." You said while mixing the batter and smiling at him.

"Because it was way too brown! I will never drink that thing!" He said as he finally started to eat. "It looked like mud."

"Drama queen." You said to him smiling.

"That is drama king to you!" He pointed at you as he continued eating.

"Oh, I am so sorry, your majesty!" You bowed down to him dramatically. You both looked at each other, which lasted maybe one or two minutes, before you started laughing, him smiling slightly.

"Putting that aside," Lance started as he watched you work around the kitchen. "Let's talk about the zoo." At this, you froze for a brief minute. "What do you think about the matter?"

You looked at him and noticed his focused glance at you. Nervously, you looked away.

"Well, I can't really say anything to that, now do I?" You said as you continued to make the pancakes. You thought some more as you put part of the batter into the pan. "I mean true, I made the water... But at the same time, when I gave it away, I don't think it's part of my problem anymore... is it?" You nervously looked back at him, only to receive a look of the unimpressed.

You looked back at the pancake once more before Lance sighed. "You know that if they find out what actually happened, they will try to find someone that did it. And if they don't find the person who gave away the water in time, the zoo will put you as the one that they can blame for even making the water." he said, as he shoved away the bowl.

You went silent as you continued to make pancakes. Lance, respecting your wishes remained silent for a while.

As you put the last pancake on your plate you walked and sat down, him facing you on the table. You looked at him and sighed. "If that happens... Then it's more of a reason to find a cure." You said as you looked down at him. Your mouth curls up in a not-so-sincere smile, a smile that would want to hide the fact of pain behind the eyes of a person

Lance looked at you as he hopped closer to your arms and tried to comfort you by resting his head on your arm. You smiled more sincerely, feeling his slimy skin that you had gotten way too used to. with a thumb you caressed his shiny head, wishing on it in your mind, knowing full well that it doesn't work on a frog's bald head. It reassured you in some way.

As you continued, you thought about the extra work and the many other all-nighters that you would have to pull if the word came out of what actually happened at the zoo. You stopped petting him as you finished your pancake, stood up, and walked to the living room with Lance in your hand.   As you entered you put down Lance inside a little terrarium where he can relax in its little pool.

Next to it were some books that you liked to read during your free time. Picking up one book you read the title:

Curses and its built-ups: How to distinguish and categorize by their mass construct in magic

In your opinion, the title was way too long, but you can't judge a book by its cover or well... its title.

You opened it where you put the bookmark and sat down to read it. Lance watched you as you flipped through the pages, sometimes groaning once you found a term that you never even heard of, only to flip back to where you last read about the topic from which the word might come.

Lance knew you already for quite some time, if it wasn't for the voices that you made while reading, then he was able to tell your struggle simply by your nose. Every time you got mad or irritated about something, weirdly enough your nose started to twitch cutely, like some bunnies would. Although, he never once mentioned that to you, and he's not planning to.

As you continued to read you felt the eyes of Lance glancing at you from time to time, feeling his hesitancy for some reason. You sighed before putting down the book.

"Lance, whatever you want to say, don't jinx it." You said to him as you looked at him.

"But!! What if the culprit knows that you made the water?!?" Lance said, making you almost lose your composure. You looked at him once more before sighing. You put your hand up showing your entire palm, then slowly putting down the fingers in it one by one.

Suddenly, you heard the familiar ring of the bell that you set for your house, the Les Toreadors from George Bizet's opera.

Every time you heard it you couldn't help but laugh at the confusion of Lance and sometimes the screams -either from joy or fear- of little kids or teenagers as they get the reference. This time though, it was fit for the occasion indeed.

You stood up and picked up Lance to put on your shoulder, then walked to your spacious house's entrance.

You had this house for a long time ago, and the modern decorations around the flora of the mountains highs, made you feel like the aesthetic that they gave to fantastical beings, yet still down to earth for the accuracy of the time.

You noticed that your breathing suddenly went slower from the nerve, after all, you don't know what might be on the other side of the door. Maybe an officer, investigating the case, or the FBI for all you know! After all, maybe the events of a possible out of the normal, people turning into animals, are more likely to be in the hands with assured secrecy in it, than out in the open. Luckily you won't get tossed to a weird place or area, since some papers that you managed to have, but getting locked up in jail is not a place that you want to be in.

But you also thought of the possibility of it just being the mail or a package that you received.

As if he felt your anxiety, Lance put one foot on your neck, to show some sign of comfort. You, of course to that, gave him a thankful smile, before opening the front door...

Only for you to see nobody. You blinked a couple of times before you looked out and around the surrounding area.

Nothing.

"Huh... guess my intuition was wrong." You said to Lance as you looked at him confused.

"Maybe it was a rascal that hit the bell as a prank?" he asked you showing the same confused expression that you did, if you can say a frog's and a person's face look similar, which was, obviously not true, but for the sake of the story, we're just going to say it was... a close one.

"Up here? I don't think any kid would have the determination to just prank someone that lives up here, in the mountains." You said as you were about to close the door, only to hear a high-pitched voice.

"H-hey!" You looked out once more, trying to find the source of the voice. "D-down here!" You heard the voice say it again.

Upon request, you looked down.

"Well, what do I see? It seems I was correct, Lance, you jinxed it."
