The rage of Smaug |ch. 7
Smaug, the mighty dragon from Middle-earth, found herself in a battle against a formidable opponent, Baron Heinrich Zemo, who had surprised her with his strength and determination. She had always considered humans insignificant, believing that she could easily overpower them, but Zemo had proven her wrong.
Zemo, an arch-enemy of Captain America, was brought into the conflict by his son, Helmut Zemo, in a swift and unexpected move. Smaug, being a dragon, wasn't well-versed in technology, but she quickly adjusted to the situation. Though she didn't like this new challenge, she had to confront it head-on.
During their intense battle, Smaug marveled at Zemo's combat skills. She acknowledged that most humans had no idea how to fight a dragon, but Zemo was an exception. They grappled in a battle of strength, and Smaug was astonished at Zemo's resilience. He was a formidable opponent, but she believed that he stood no chance against a full-grown dragon.
"You know," Smaug hissed as they struggled, "I'm surprised by how well you fight, mortal. Most of your kind wouldn't know how to face a dragon." She attempted to strike Zemo with a powerful kick, but he skillfully evaded it. "But you have yet to impress me," she taunted, conjuring a fiery ball in her clawed hand.
Zemo demonstrated his agility by dodging Smaug's fiery attack, further fueling her frustration. She realized she needed to exercise more self-control. In Middle-earth, she was a feared and respected dragon, and controlling her temper had never been an issue. But in this new world with the Avengers, she had to adapt and maintain her composure, even when provoked.
As the battle raged on, Smaug couldn't help but let her arrogance slip. "You mortals would never have defeated me!" she roared, striking Zemo with a powerful tail swipe. It sent him crashing into a pillar, which cracked but remained standing, a symbol of unwavering determination.
The Avengers managed to subdue Zemo and prepare to send him back through a portal. Smaug, now in her more human-like form, joined her team, who had also been pushed to their limits in the battle. Thor, in particular, showed concern for her well-being. "Everything alright, my lady?" he inquired, examining her for injuries.
Smaug reassured Thor, "Man of thunder, my hide is not easily punctured. Though the Hydra leader put up a fight, nothing can defeat a mighty dragon. You should know that. I've bested you in our training sessions."
Thor chuckled and acknowledged her skill, leading the team to bond further. Smaug's connection with the Avengers grew stronger, and she had found a sense of belonging in this group of heroes. They were her allies, her friends, and she vowed to stand by their side for as long as she could.
Despite her immense power, Smaug couldn't help but think of her home in Middle-earth and the looming threat of the Dark Lord Sauron. She had heard whispers of his defeat at the hands of others, but her world remained distant for now. In this new world, she had found a purpose in protecting and saving others, and she was starting to enjoy it.
Smaug had earned the trust and respect of her teammates, and they had become her new family. She wondered how long this bond would last before it might be tested or broken. In Middle-earth, dragons were feared and revered, but in this world, she was just one of many heroes. Yet she was determined to show these "petty mortals" that they were not the greatest, and she would stand alongside her newfound allies as a formidable force for good.
