Chapter 6
In side the box was a gold heart shaped locket with two diamonds on the front. May gasped and looked at a blushing Giotto.
"Gio you didn't have to." May said.
"I know but I wanted to, do you like it?" Giotto asked.
"I love it but I love you more." May said hugging Giotto. He smiled as they sat down to watch the sunset.
"Did you look inside the locket?" Giotto asked. May shook her head no. She took out the locket and opened it up. On the inside of the locket on the back it had a pair of golves, the vongola emblem, a pair of daggers and a silver mask with Gio and May at the top. Each item was engraved and painted in. There was a message on the lid. It said 'I choose you. And I'll choose you over and over and over. Without pause, without a doubt, in a heart beat. I'll keep choosing you.'
"Gio." May started but was unable to find the right words.
"What is it May?" Giotto asked. May looks over but she can't find her voice, so instead she hugged him. Giotto smiled and hugged her back understanding what she wanted to say.
"Thank you." May said into Giotto's ear.
"Your welcome my love." Giotto said. The date went well into the night ending with a slow walk back to May's home.
"Be careful Gio you never know what the night may hide." May said as she opened the front door.
"Will do May. See you later." Giotto said before kissing her cheek. He left a stunned May behind as he walked away. Once she snapped out of her stupor she blushed and went inside her home. From there she went down into a secret underground training room.
"I wasn't expecting that." May said touching the cheek Giotto kissed. She smiled softly as she started to do her normal training routine. She had a few missteps but nothing serious enough to stop.

May and Giotto went on three more dates and tonight was no exception. May had just gotten home from a date to the park with Giotto when she noticed someone watching her.
"don't they ever learn," May muttered. She disappeared from her spot by the front door, reappearing behind the assassin with a dagger to the person's neck.
"You seem to young to be a properly trained assassin, girl." Night said pushing the girl's hand between her shoulder blades.
"You're right but who are you?" The girl asked. Night chuckled and smirked.
"I'm supposed to be dead." Night said.
"N-Night!" The girl stuttered in fear.
"You're correct, girl." Night smirked hiding a wince. The girl paled and gulped.
"I don't want to die." The girl muttered lowly, Night was having trouble hearing it.
"You're young enough." Night muttered surprising the girl.
"W-what?" She asked.
"I said you're young enough for me not to kill but." Night said stopping for effect.
"I have to fake your death that is if you want out of the darkness, if not say you last words." Night finished. She could sense the two men Giotto sent to protect her coming closer.
"I want out. But I have no one to return to," the girl said. Night couldn't sense any lie in her words.
"Alright, if you want out then I'll handle the rest. All you need to do is act like a civilian and knock on that cake shops door, everything will be taken care of from there," Night said taking the girls mask and disappearing. The girl did as she was told and May opened the door.
"Hello what can I do for you....oh! You're the girl I heard about." May smiled kindly. At first the girl was confused but decided to play along.
"Y-yeah that's me." She said. May smiled and ushered her in the shop.
"You're looking for a job and a place to stay till you find a place of your own right?" May asked. The girl nodded shyly.
"Yes I am. My names Carmela Urbani." Carmela said.
"Well then, welcome Carmela. You're welcome to stay with me but you're going to have to excuse my boyfriend he tends to come over a lot." May said.
"Okay Miss." Carmela smiled.
"Oh where are my manners my name is May Amato." May said cheerily. Carmela smiled and nodded.
"Glad to meet you Miss. Amato." Carmela said. May chuckled with a smile.
"I haven't heard people address me by my last name in quite sometime." May sighed closing her eyes. Carmela looked worried.
"You don't like that?" Carmela asked worriedly.
"It brings back to many bad memories that's why everyone calls me by my first name." May sighed sadly.
"Oh okay." Carmela said understanding.
"Well let's head up stairs to my home so we can get you settled in." May said all of a sudden cherry.

The shop was busy as usual and the pace was quicker thanks to Carmela's help.
"May you here? Wait who are you?" G asked as he came in spotting Carmela.
"Hello." Carmela said smiling nervously. G glared at her before May came out of the kitchen.
"Hi G waht brings you here?" May asked leaning on the glass display case. G looked over as he moved the unlit cigarette in his mouth.
"Well I was hoping to warn you about Giotto he may be a little mad," G stated, "for now he's stuck in his office to by you time if you want it."
"I should of told him sooner huh." May sighed and G nodded.
"That or let me tell him sooner." G muttered. May smirked and shook her head.
"You find things out faster then Giotto. I do have a question for you though. Why did you let me do it in the first place, G?" May asked. Carmela looked between the two seeing a brother and a sister talking.
"Well I didn't see the need plus I knew what your intentions were and they were good." G shrugged.
"To be honest I was quite surprised you where there that night." May smirked.
