Lex and Ethan talked quietly, Hannah still asleep in Ethan's lap.

'What are we going to do?' Lex whispered worriedly, scared of what was outside the bathroom they were hiding in.

' I'm not sure, but I do know that it's going to be okay, we'll get through it and then we'll go to California liked we planned.' Ethan replied, pulling Lex into a gentle hug, being careful to not wake Hannah.

'Today feels like it has gone on forever, I can't believe that just this morning I was writing a letter to my mum and being ready to get out of this town, and now I don't know if I will survive to even give her that letter.'

'Instead of stressing about it how about we come up with a plan?' Ethan said as he looked toward Lex. He was worried about her, although he liked to act all tough and cool, he did really care about her. He knew how tough her life had been so far and all he wanted was for her to finally be happy. And just as that seemed to be possible, they got trapped in a mall with people willing to kill for a stupid fucking doll.

'Yeah, yeah, good idea. Have you got any idea on what we're gonna do?' Lex asked, her faith almost gone at this point and at a loss for what they could do.

'As much as I would love to run while we can and leave all the drama behind, I think we have to save these people. Or the ones that can be saved at least. We have the last wiggly, right?' Lex nodded. 'Well we can use that as bait. What if we go to ToyZone, burn the doll in front of them so that they know that it's gone, and hopefully that will snap them out of their trance?'

'I guess it's our best bet.' Lex sighed, not at all hopeful that their plan would work.

'I know that it might not work. But try to stay hopeful, if not for me, then for Hannah.' Ethan looked at Lex with love in his eyes. They had only been dating for a year, but Ethan knew that he loved Lex, and would do anything for her.

'Okay, as soon as we get this day over with the sooner we can get to California, right?'

'Yep.' Ethan looked down at Hannah, pity showing on his face. 'I don't want to wake her up.'

'I know, but we have to get going.'

'Fine. Up you get, Banana.' Ethan shook Hannah gently. She stirred and looked up at Ethan.

'Are we in California yet?' Hannah whispered, her voice still rough from sleep.

'Almost, we just have to do a few things first.' Ethan replied, smiling down at her.

'Okay.'

Once they had gathered all of their stuff, wiggly stuffed safely in the backpack that Lex was now carrying, they all stood by the door. None of them knew whether there was anyone still out there and they didn't know how to check.

'I'll go out.' Ethan said bravely, not really afraid of something happening to him as long as he's protecting his adopted family.

'No, Ethan you have done more than enough for us today. It's my time to save us, I'll go.' Lex said defiantly, a look of complete determination on her face. Ethan wanted to argue, but he knew that there was no point. He could see how much Lex needed this, to feel validated.

'Fine.' Ethan sighed, hoping he wouldn't regret the decision. Ethan pulled Hannah with him far away from the door. Lex slowly opened the door and left, looking around as she went.

'I think it's safe.' Lex whispered. Ethan and Hannah were just about to come out as well when they heard a muffled scream. Lex's whisper, although very quiet, had caught the attention of someone that had been waiting at the entrance to the hallway of bathrooms.

'Lex!' Ethan and Hannah yelled at the same time. Ethan raced to the doorway and looked out. They saw someone carrying Lex away, and in place of where that person had been waiting more people were approaching, drawn to the sound of Ethan and Hannah's scream. As much as Ethan wanted to run out and save Lex, he knew that he had to stay with Hannah. So he locked the door again and went to comfort Hannah, who was crying again.

'Don't worry Banana Split, we'll get her back.' Ethan said comfortingly, hugging her and rubbing her back.

So there they sat, Hannah crying softly into Ethan's chest while Ethan tried to come up with a good plan on how to save Lex. In their despair they had failed to notice that along with Lex they had also taken the bag with wiggly in it. The shoppers had the final wiggly.
