To Hope...

"It's just exhaustion," Ccino told Stretch softly, the small babybones the swap had been dragged to sleeping upstairs in his spare room.

"You sure?" Stretch asked clutching Blues scarf as if it was a life line, since.. that day he usually wore it around his neck.

"It is Stretch why did you bring him to me. Wouldn't a hospital or Doctor be better?" Ccino asked.

"Because of the.. well feline," the Papyrus type monster replied, turning to stare at the large strange feline who had Ccino's felines nervously moving about the safe.

Well, except for the Error themed feline who stayed near them as they were keeping the fresh themed one away.

"Next time you find someone in the anti-void, take them to Sci at least," they sighed, he didn't mind as Stretch had been rather skittish since his brother and Au was destroyed a few years ago. He didn't even know when the last time someone had seen them, he was just so broken.

"Fine..." Stretch sighed.

"Now, how about a Honey drink treat for saving an innocent," Ccino said with a grin.

"I'd... like that..."

------

An Unfamiliar ceiling...

Blearily Mana stared up from where he lay, there was the scent of coffee and other things in the air. Add the fact he was clearly in a bed, he was definitely not in the antivoid anymore.

"Time to eat, shoo cats. This isn't for you," an unfamiliar voice said, Mana turned and squinted trying to focus but the figure was a blur.

"Who...?" Mana managed to slur out weakly.

"Hello little one, my name in Ccino. I have some food then you need to rest, you were dangerously exhausted," the voice said.

He tried to ask more, but he didn't seem to be able to talk.

"I have some food, you need rest and build up your magic little one. Your dangerously low," Ccino said, Mana barely remembered Ccino helping him sit up and being fed liquid.

No soup... a broth of some type.

Sleep pulled him down again.

------

The cat cafe owner kept half his attention on his little guest, Mana was recovered enough to leave his room. He had them in an area off the main seating area in a comfy chair bundled in blankets, as they still got cold too fast due to there magic sluggishly returning.

The cats loved him, Ccino had to go on there now and then to rescue him from the mass of felines.

The only time he wasn't covered, was when the big strange black feline that had brought Stretch to Mana decided the tiny monsters was his.

The black feline was a boy boy, labelled kitty by the babybones.

There were not a pet nor familiar, just a cat deciding this monster was there.

He had no idea how long this would last, either the feline would finish adopting there monster and become a pet or familiar or leave breaking the child's soul.

Stretch had not visited since Mana had woken, seeing the scarf all fresh and retied around Manas's neck had caused him a panic attack realizing the scarf had belonged to a Blue just like his sibling.

"Mana, what do you plan to do next once your well?" Ccino asked, the child petting the Error themed cat who was called Glitchy his face pensive.

"Leave... I can't stay.." he said softly.

"You sure, the guest room is pretty much yours Mana," Ccino offered, no kid should wander.

"There are reasons, and.. I don't want parents again.. not again," Mana said tearfully, grief filled there voice and Ccino wished he could take that grief away.

------

Mana listened to the sound of Ccino sleep upstairs, now and then he could hear one of the felines moving about the building. The Chaos cat was napping in his arms, Mana himself was on a comfy chair the blanket daddy had gifted him wrapped around his small form.

Paper crinkled in his hands, staring once again at the final letter from his parents. It was less then pristine now, the envelope crinkled and greyed from his handling.

He still hadn't opened it.

He froze and kitties red eyes opened as the door of the cafe opened, Ccino didn't lock it as no one ever came at night.

Clearly they had.

"Oh..." the person said, noticing the child in the near darkness of the room. A Papyrus, a tired looking swap type. Mama had been a swap "I'm here to leave Ccino a letter"

"There asleep.." Mana said quietly.

"Murp..." Kitty mewed head poking out of the blanket to stare at the larger monster.

"Oh, your the child from the anti-void, your looking better," they said.

"I guess... I'm Mana," he said to be polite.

"Stretch..." the Papyrus said, he sighed and sat on another chair placing an envelope with the name Cciono written on it.

"Why... why do people always leave letters behind..."

Stretch blinked, it hadn't been a question just a grief filled sentence.

"Because, once there gone sometimes that's all that left along with those they left behind kid," Stretch answered, he hadn't had letters only his brothers scarf.

"Mama and daddy left a letter, I lost my original multiverse.. I don't even remember it... just endless white. They adopted me even though at first i was an babybones in adult body, then.. when my body finally matched my soul... I loose them and there multiverse too," Mana said wiping away his tears angrily.

"Your mama.. were they a Blue?" Stretched asked softly, he'd seen the blue scarf with the giant bow... his brother had liked that style.

Mana nodded, and couldn't resists and started to babble about his family. Stretch listened a smile growing, he wondered if his Sans could have been like that Blue if there AU hadn't ended. He'd had so many thoughts, why had he survived, why hadn't Sans.

Sans had been so filled, everyone had loved him... there seemed to be a gaping hole in the multiverse where he'd once been.

Yet here he was, comforting another grieving soul.

He hoped his multiverse counterpart had loved this kid to pieces, they seemed awesome.

"You should read it, there final words to you... they loved you a lot from the sounds of it," Stretch told them.

"Can... you stay while I read it?" Mana asked hopefully, he didn't want to be alone.

"Sure kid," Stretch promised.

With slightly shaky hands Mana carefully opened the envelope, unfolding the papers within. He Paused and sadly smiled as there was a picture of the three of them in the middle, so happy... he slid the picture away to keep safe in his item space.

The letter was filled with there love, there hopes and dream.

They hadn't told him the multiverse was ending so there final days were filled with smiled, as Mana might have tried to stay.. no one wanted to see there child die.

The letters were filled with so many things, he hugged the letter to his chest crying silently.

He barely noticed Stretch comforting, or Stretch putting there own envelope away.

Maybe face to face was better.

------

"You can always visit, the room will stay open for you," Ccino said as he made sure Mana had everything he could provide for them, the babybones wouldn't stay no matter what he tried.

"Thank you," Mana said giving the older monster a hug.

"Kitty is coming with you I see, that's good. Does he have a name yet?" Ccino asked spotting the large feline, Mana nodded picking up them.

"Hope," he said as the feline nuzzled his face.

"A good name," Ccino said approvingly, that got a smile from Mana.

"When we see each other next time kid, I'll treat you to hot chocolate," Stretch said, Ccino had been relieved when the Papyrus has returned safe and sound.

"See you then," Mana grinned, then cat and child were gone.

"Good luck kid," Stretched whispered.
