Chapter Ten
Clarissa rested her body at a table, her body began to beg for a rest.
She was thankful the shift was over; she was thankful to have a break for a few days.
"Clarissa."
Unlike the other woman in the club, she didn't have a name to protect her identity.
She shifted her gaze up to River as he stopped at the table she was resting at.
He was the last one left: besides the staff and Stacy.
"Enjoy your night." She tried to hold back her yawn but failed.
River nodded "The party's not over yet, why don't you join me?"
If exhaustion wasn't running through her body, Clarissa would've coiled away.
"River."
Clarissa shifted her feet off the chair across from her as Stacy approached the two of them.
"This one is off limits." Stacy rested his body next to Clarissa.
Her eyes softened as she glanced up at Stacy, she wasn't sure what his act was but in this very moment she was thankful for it.
River raised an eyebrow as he studied the woman the men were both fighting over. "There's always a price." He ran his fingers softly up Clarissa's hand.
Clarissa shifted her gaze to River, she wished in this moment body would get up and move but exhaustion had other ideas. She just sat and stayed.
Stacy gently swatted River's hand away, Stacy hadn't told anyone outside of the staff that Clarissa was a cop's daughter "A price you can't afford." There was a threat amongst the playful words.
River realised Stacy wasn't going to back down "I get it." He really didn't but the last thing he wanted to do was piss off Stacy.
"You coming?" Katy called out as she adjusted the strap of her duffle bag on her shoulder as she let exhaustion hide itself under her clothes.
"I won't be far behind." Clarissa carefully pushed her aching body to her feet.
"Do you want me too..." Katy trailed off.
Clarissa shook her head "is he?"
Katy shook her head "Can't get through."
Clarissa half heartedly shrugged as if she pretended not to mind her dad wasn't outside.
"Nina's giving me a lift, you sure?"
Clarissa nodded her head "It's not that far." She excused herself away from River and Stacy.
Katy waved bye to Stacy as she ignored River before taking her steps towards Nina, who was waiting by the front door with several other woman.
