Chapter Eleven
Clarissa wasn't wrong, she wasn't far behind. She laid the dress she had worn during her shift over the chair in the dressing room before picking up her bag and stepping out of the dressing room.
She felt more comfortable and relaxed in her jeans, jumper and sneakers. She hadn't brushed out the curls that sat around her head nor had she wiped off the makeup that Katy had thankfully applied.
Clarissa fished through her bag for her phone, she let a sigh slip through her lips as she noticed the low percentage of her phone. She silently prayed that it'd be enough to let her get home safely.
Clarissa wasn't surprised to see how empty the club was as she made her way towards the front doors.
Clarissa didn't jump as the lights flicked off.
"Don't worry I knew you were still here." Stacy's voice caused Clarissa to jump. He couldn't help but let a slip of laughter fall through his lips.
"I guess I owe you a thank you for River."
Stacy walked by Clarissa's side before opening the front door for her "River doesn't know who your dad is, so it's safer that way."
Clarissa stepped outside. She pulled her jumper tighter around her body as the cold air slapped her skin "So his as much trouble as you?"
Stacy locked the door before facing Clarissa "Well, a little more difficult." He knew his reputation; he had heard the stories about himself come back to him "Do you want a lift home?"
Clarissa watched as Stacy's driver; Luca opened the backseat car door "I can walk."
"You sure? It's late." Stacy watched as she remained calm in his presence, just like she was the night before.
"Clari."
Clarissa held back her sigh "it's fine, Stac."
"I can wait here while Luca drops you off."
Clarissa shook her head, the curls slightly bounced "Thanks for the offer. But really, I can walk home."
"Alrighty, fine." He finally admitted defeat "Enjoy your days off."
Clarissa watched as Stacy climbed into the back of his car. She watched as Luca climbed into the driver's seat.
Clarissa glanced down at her phone in her hand, she sighed as she noticed the percentage of her battery had dropped again.
She heard the softy beep of a car, she looked up and saw Stacy wave at her, Clarissa waved back before returning her attention back to her phone.
Clarissa stood under the dim streetlights as she dialled Katy's number, she began to make her steps home. "It's only me."
"I know. Who else rings at. Oh god. That early." Katy's exhausted voice let the playful words filter through the phone. "Did he entice you to go to River's?"
"Nah. He actually convinced River to leave me alone."
"Really? Normally Stacy's the first to let us cop the trouble."
Clarissa shrugged to herself "Katy..." She pulled her phone away from her ear. "Fuck." She sighed as the blank phone screen stared back at her.
Clarissa tried to turn her phone back on, nothing but the flat battery symbol flashed across the screen "Great."
She let the sounds of the early morning fill her surroundings.
