The One I Killed

Phantom was currently sitting in the room Black Canary used for therapy and he was sitting in a green armchair. The team, their mentors, Black Canary, and now even Red Tornado was there, apparently he found out about what had been going on. The team had told Batman that they were fairly certain that Phantom had been one of the missing kids.

When he heard that all of the mentors were called in and Phantom was less then happy about it, he was ignoring all of them on purpose. He still had to think of a way to stop Springtrap, he was going through several ideas in his head, many of which weren't likely to work. After several minutes of silence Batman spoke, "You can't keep hiding things from us Phantom, what's going on?"

Phantom looked at him, "In case you haven't noticed I hide things for a reason, this being one of them."

Black Canary mentally sighed, "We need to know what's going on Phantom, and you're the only one that can tell us."

Phantom glared at her, "You don't need to know, you want to know, but fine, since you seem so determined to find out I'll tell you. Just don't blame me if you don't like what I tell you because I'm warning you now, it's not a pleasant story."

Phantom looked straight at the heroes and crossed his arms, "I'm the fifth missing child, owner of the Golden Freddy suit, and the only survivor."

Red Tornado spoke, "May I inquire as to what you mean when you say 'Golden Freddy suit'?"

Green Arrow spoke, "And what about what those kids called you?"

Flash spoke, "And who are those kids?"

Phantom mentally sighed, "I suppose I'll have to start from the beginning then, and I mean the very beginning." Phantom leaned back in his seat and thought about where to start, "I guess I should start with my 'parents', if you can call them that. I barely remember them, or my 'sister', at all, none of them ever cared about me, that much was obvious."

"That's why when they got rid of me I wasn't surprised, they got into a bit of trouble with the government and handed me off to them to get out of it. Before you ask what I mean let me explain, in exchange for all of my 'families' problems to be swept under the rug I became a human lab rat."

"By the time I was five I was experimented on, tortured, and being trained to become a weapon for the government to use. I was 'killed' at the age of six, though I should mention that I'm still half human, and no I will not explain that, it's complicated. Anyway the agents decided that having a weapon that could easily blend into society was better then having one that didn't know the first thing about people."

"So much to my dismay I was enrolled in school at the age of seven, that didn't turn out too well since I scared the other kids. But they insisted on keeping me in school, eventually four kids had the guts to try and talk to me. At first I didn't like them, I thought they were annoying, but I'll admit I actually started to like them after a while."

"They were all a bit odd in their own ways, Amy and Nathan were a lot more happy go lucky then the rest of us. Ben didn't like being around people much but he was okay with the others, he even started warming up to me fairly quickly. Luke was the most interesting, he was shy, bordering on antisocial, and I found myself being protective of all of them."

"I was more protective of Luke though, because of his shy nature people picked on him and I always scared the hell out of whoever did." Phantom looked at the heroes and saw that many of them looked confused, "And you're wondering why I'm telling you all of this. Believe me when I say there's a method to my madness, so let's skip several months and get to what you really want to know."

"Nathan's birthday was coming up and like many kids he wanted to have a party, hopefully you can all guess where by now. A local diner called Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, I didn't want to go but since I actually considered him a friend I agreed to go. It took a hell of a lot of negotiation to be allowed to go, believe me when I say it wasn't easy to get the agents to let me go."

"Two agents had to go with me and I had to wear this stupid bracelet that made it so I couldn't use my powers. So I went to this party that I knew I wasn't going to like, just walking into the damn place made my skin crawl. After the mandatory cake and presents, which I thought was just stupid, the kids were allowed to run wild."

"Nathan and Amy dragged me around while Ben and Luke shared in my torment of having to be around noisy kids. Then Amy disappeared, she ran off and I hadn't seen her for a while, then Ben went missing, then Luke, when Nathan went missing I knew something was wrong. Amy and Nathan might run off but they always said something before they did, but Ben and Luke wouldn't run off."

"I knew something was wrong, very wrong, so I started looking for them, eventually I noticed one of the characters trying to get me to follow him. The other characters were animatronics but someone was in that suit, I didn't trust the guy but he probably knew where the others went. So I followed him, stupid I know but I didn't have a lot of options since I couldn't use my powers."

"He lead me to a back room and as soon as he opened the door I saw the others in the room, before I could do anything I was knocked out. When I woke up I was tied up, I couldn't break the rope or phase out of it, I couldn't do a damn thing but I still tried. He killed Nathan first, then Amy, then Ben, then Luke, I was the last one he tried to kill but that didn't work out."

"I was starting to black out from the pain, I held my breath and he thought I was dead, I passed out right after that. I've seen how cruel people can be before but I've never seen someone that was so needlessly cruel. There was no rhyme or reason to what he did, it was just senseless hacking, he did it because he wanted to, just because he could."

At the last word one of the lights exploded and several of the heroes jumped, Phantom was obviously pissed. Phantom took a breath before he continued, "When I woke up I was put in that suit, my suit, the Golden Freddy suit. He hid me in a room where no one would find me, I was left there, in the dark, and I knew I would probably die."

"The Golden Freddy suit is a springlock suit, some of the springlocks failed while I was in the suit and stabbed me. Let me just say having a bunch of wires and pieces of metal stab you hurts, a lot, and it nearly killed me. I thought I was going to die, I nearly did, but the Marionette saved me before I bled out."

Superman spoke, "The Marionette?"

Phantom nodded, "She was another child that died, she thought I was dead but she found out I wasn't when she found me in that room. I told her to take off that stupid bracelet, when she did I phased out of that suit but I passed out again. It was like I was in a coma, I couldn't move but I knew what was going on, it was almost as bad as the suit."

"I couldn't move in the suit but at least I was conscious, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't move my body. Eventually I learned how to move without moving, if that makes sense, I could move my body eventually but it took a while. One thing eventually lead to another and now we're here, it fucking sucked, that's pretty much what happened."

Martian Manhunter spoke, "But who is Springtrap, and how did he end up in that suit?"

Phantom was silent for a few seconds, he wasn't sure if he should tell them but he was past the point of no return now. Phantom sighed, "Fine, but you'll probably hate me after I tell you."

Robin looked confused, "Why would we hate you?"

Phantom felt the urge to groan, was it really that hard to figure out, after everything that he told them they still didn't get it? "Because I killed him." The heroes looked shocked but Phantom ignored them, "His name was William Afton, the creator of the animatronics."

"We were all angry, I was just angrier then the other kids, let's just say we've all done things we regret, me more then the others. Years passed, shit happened, and I wasn't going to let that bastard get away with what he did to all of those kids. We all made a plan, when he went into the back room we cornered him, the other four blocked the exit so he couldn't leave."

"I chased him into the suit, as soon as he saw all of us he panicked, he wanted to get as far away from us as possible. He figured the only way he'd be safe was if he put on the Spring Bonnie suit, which we later called Springtrap. When Afton put on the suit he laughed at us, then the springlocks failed, he died pretty quickly from what I remember."

"Honestly that was a pretty stupid move, that should have been obvious before but I was so pissed off that I didn't think about it." Phantom buried his head in his hands, "Now he's attached to a suit just like the rest of us, he's even like me which makes it worse." Phantom looked like he was going to kill someone, a few more of the lights exploded and Phantom's eyes changed.

After several seconds Phantom calmed down a bit and his eyes changed back and he managed to stand despite his exhaustion. "I'm going to my room, if you have anymore questions I'll answer them later but for now I don't give a shit."

Phantom walked out of the room and the heroes wondered how the hell this was all possible, it was hard for them to understand. The murders happened decades ago so how was Phantom still only a teenager, and he implied that more then just four kids were killed. And what did Phantom mean when he said he figured out how to move by not moving, they still needed answers.

Phantom walked to his room and as soon as he closed the door he locked it and sighed, he was so tired. Now he had a headache and he was more tired then he had ever been in his life and that was saying something. Saving Luke had tired him out a hell of a lot, probably because his anger was so strong, but at least they were all okay now.

Phantom literally collapsed onto his bed and didn't even bother pulling the blankets over himself. He just closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep within seconds, he was tired and it was unlikely that anything would wake him up any time soon.
