Night 4: The Angry Fox
Phantom refused to leave his room, he'd only talk to people long enough to tell them to leave him alone. The only acception was Robin, he wouldn't let Robin into his room but he'd still talk to him more then the others. Robin brought Phantom food and would leave so Phantom would actually eat instead of staying in his room because he was there.
When the heroes were going to leave for the attraction Phantom was the first one there but he wouldn't say anything to anyone. He seemed very deep in thought the whole time and he wouldn't even acknowledge anyone else, aside from Robin. He'd give short one word responses to what they said to him but that was it, otherwise he was practically dead to the world.
As soon as the heroes got to the attraction and closed the door Phantom was tackled by three small figures. Phantom managed to stay standing but just barely and he gave the three a slightly surprised look. Ben quickly let go but Nathan and Amy hugged him for another few seconds before letting the halfa go.
Phantom spoke, "Jeez, I was only gone for a day."
Amy looked like she was pouting, "It's not as fun when your gone."
Phantom rolled his eyes before looking at them again, "Did you find him?"
The three looked at each other and Ben spoke, "We tried but we couldn't find him."
Phantom thought for a second, "He's probably moving around then, he never stayed in one place unless he had to."
Nathan spoke, "So how do we find him?"
Kid Flash interrupted, "Hold on, find who, and who are you three?"
The three kids looked at Kid Flash before they looked at Phantom again while ignoring the heroes. Ben spoke, "So how are we going to find him Goldie?"
Phantom checked the time on the clock on the wall, it was almost midnight, they needed to get somewhere safe before trying to find the last child. "Let's go to the office first, I'd rather not run into Springtrap when we still have someone to find."
Amy smiled, "Race you to the office!"
Amy ran off and Nathan ran after her, Ben sighed, "Were they always like that?"
"Yes, you used to do that too before the whole, well, you know."
Ben looked at the ground for a second before he grabbed the sleeve of Phantom's jacket and pulled him in the direction of the office. Phantom let Ben lead him through the halls and the heroes looked at each other before they followed the two. When Phantom and Ben caught up to Amy and Nathan they saw them standing outside the office.
Phantom looked slightly confused but when he looked inside he understood, on the opposite side of the room from the door was the last child. He had fiery red hair and he had his knees tucked close to his chest with his back to the wall. Phantom could tell just from looking at him that he was angrier then the others and he could understand why.
He was killed just before Phantom, after he was put in the suit he was hidden away because people thought he was broken. Phantom knew how he felt, he wasn't sure when he started moving toward the boy but he didn't stop, he couldn't leave him like this. He got a few feet away from him when the boy moved and attacked Phantom, he was so angry he was lashing out at anyone that got close to him.
Amy looked shocked, "Luke!"
Phantom looked at her, "Amy stay back, he's mad, he might hurt you." Phantom avoided Luke's attempts at hurting him and after the third or fourth attack Phantom managed to grab his wrist and they both froze. The room changed, he didn't know where he was at first until he saw the curtains, he was in front of Pirate's Cove.
Luke had been put here after everyone thought he was out of order, he was always there but no one saw him. No one cared enough to look behind the curtain, no one even tried to fix him, they just put up a sign and walked away. Phantom felt his own anger spike but he took a deep breath, he had to stay calm, he couldn't help Luke if he got mad.
Phantom walked through the opening in the curtains and looked around, Luke was in the corner. He wasn't crying, he never did cry much, he was covering his ears like he was trying to block out a horrible sound. He was trying to block out those stupid songs the others were forced to sing for so many years.
Listening to those songs so many times could drive someone insane, and with everything Luke went through hearing those songs was too much. Phantom understood Luke better then anyone, he was hidden away because people thought there was something wrong with him. Luke couldn't ask for help, no one could even see him, he was alone and being driven to insanity with pain and anger.
Phantom walked closer and knelt down in front of Luke, he could feel his anger, his fear, and his despair. It was almost overwhelming but Phantom had felt the same way before, his feelings were just stronger then Luke's. Phantom gently took Luke's hands away from his ears and the child looked up at him in shock and fear.
As soon as Luke recognized him his eyes widened before he hugged Phantom, "Don't leave Danny, I don't want to be alone anymore."
Phantom ran a hand through his hair and hugged him back, "I'm not leaving Luke, I won't leave you alone again."
Luke let him go and he smiled, Phantom smiled back and held out his hand, he didn't have to say anything for Luke to take his hand. The two were suddenly back in the office and judging from the young heroes faces they could see Luke. Without warning Luke turned around and hugged Phantom, everyone seemed to be surprised but Phantom just hugged the child back.
After a few seconds Luke spoke, "I don't want to go back, don't make me go back."
Phantom gave him a sad smile, "You're not going back, none of us are."
Luke let go of Phantom and smiled, Phantom smiled back and Amy looked like she was having trouble containing her excitement. She ran up to Luke and hugged him, "Luke!"
Nathan joined in on the hug and so did Ben but only for a second or two, Nathan and Amy let Luke go after a few more seconds. Luke looked at Phantom, "So am I the last one?"
Phantom nodded, "Yup, we're all here."
Nathan smiled, "Goldie brought us back together!"
Miss Martian spoke, "Um, why do you keep calling him 'Goldie'?"
The four kids looked at her and Ben spoke, "She's green, why is she green?"
Phantom looked at him, "She's an alien, a lot has happened in the last thirty years or so."
The four nodded and Luke saw the box in the corner and his eyes widened, "My hand!"
Luke ran over to the box and the heroes looked shocked and confused and Artemis spoke, "You're hand?"
Luke took the arm of his suit out of the box, "Well it's not really my hand, but still." He looked at Phantom, "It's part of my suit Goldie!"
Phantom couldn't help but smiled a little, the heroes had never seen him smile like that, well Robin had but never toward anyone but him. It was a heartwarming smile, one that made the heroes believe that Phantom really cared for the kids. Phantom wasn't surprised that Luke had immediately run over to his suit, they were all surprisingly attached to their suits.
Sure they had all been forced into them after getting murdered, or nearly murdered in Phantom's case, but they still liked them. None of them could ever say exactly why they liked them, it was a strange and unexplainable attachment. The four started going through the box and found different pieces of their suits, mainly their instruments.
Nathan then saw his suit outside the office, how he hadn't seen it before was beyond Phantom though. Nathan spoke, "Most of my suit is outside!"
The other three looked at it and what was going on seemed to finally dawn on the heroes, they were the four missing kids. Amy then turned to Phantom, "Is you're suit here Danny?"
The heroes turned to Phantom in shock and Phantom shook his head, "My suit was probably hidden too well, it's not here."
The four seemed a bit put out when they heard that, even Phantom liked his suit and knowing that it wasn't there upset the kids. Meanwhile, the heroes were putting together the pieces in their heads, Phantom was the fifth child. That's why he knew so much, how he knew the kids, and why he had been so mad, but who was Springtrap?
Wait, Springtrap, he was probably active by now, they hadn't been keeping track of where he was. Aqualad spoke, "We can't focus on this right now, Springtrap is likely active."
Luke dropped the arm of his suit, just hearing that name made him angry, he hated him for what he did. Phantom immediately pulled up the cameras after sitting in the chair at the controls and looked for Springtrap. He had to reboot all of the systems and as soon as he did he found Springtrap in the vents.
Phantom blocked the vent and used the audio to lead Springtrap to one of the other rooms, the kids chose to watch. It was like Phantom knew what Springtrap was going to do before he did it, Superboy spoke, "How are you so good at this?"
Phantom didn't look away from the screens, "I told you before, he's like me, I know who he is and what he'll do."
Kid Flash spoke, "So you're predicting what he's going to do, but how?"
Ben looked at him, "He's Golden Freddy, he can do anything."
Phantom smirked a little as he continued watching the screens, he could tell that Springtrap was getting frustrated. While Phantom was keeping Springtrap away from them he was learning more about the building and what the best way to stop Springtrap would be. Unfortunately he was exhausted so even if he did know what to do he probably couldn't do it now.
At six the alarm went off to tell them that their shift was over and Phantom was having trouble keeping his eyes open. After Phantom got up the kids hugged him, even Ben, and they all smiled before they disappeared. Now Phantom had to deal with the heroes, probably explain what was going on, and try not to pass out, oh joy.
