Marionette
The team, their mentors, and an irritated Phantom stood outside the old Freddy Fazbear's location. It was in disrepair because it had been abandoned for so long, all of the heroes got an eerie feeling from the building. Phantom seemed to be the only one that wasn't affected, he actually looked a the building with a strange sort of fondness.
He knew it was odd, and maybe a bit morbid, to like a place where the souls of children had been trapped. Nonetheless he thought of it as his home in a strange sort of way, after all he stayed there with the other kids for a while. It was also the last place he knew his suit had been, he had a feeling that it was still there, like his suit was pulling at him.
None of the heroes moved, they didn't know what to do, it was like they weren't welcome inside the restaurant. Then Phantom started walking toward the entrance without saying a word, the heroes glanced at each other before they followed him. Phantom opened the doors and the heroes looked around, the wallpaper was peeling off of the walls and the floor was covered in dirt and grime.
Phantom looked at Pirate's Cove first, then the main stage, then down one of the hallways to the office. He had a lot of memories in that restaurant, not all of them were pleasant but it had still been an important part of his life. Miss Martian looked at Pirate's Cove, "What's that?"
Phantom looked at where she was pointing, "Pirate's Cove, it's where the Foxy animatronic was kept."
Aqualad spoke, "What about the other animatronics?"
"Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica were on the main stage, Foxy used to be used for the shows but people thought he started malfunctioning. They kept him hidden in Pirate's Cove, the other three were always used for shows though."
That was when he felt like something was tugging at him again, it was like he needed to go to it. He looked at one of the walls and Batman spoke, "And what about the Golden Freddy suit?" When Phantom didn't answer he turned to the halfa, "Phantom?"
Phantom didn't seem to hear him, the others looked at Phantom who was staring at one of the walls. Phantom started walking toward it and the heroes were all confused, before anyone could say or do anything Phantom phased through the wall. Phantom ended up in a very familiar and dark room, he immediately looked toward the reason he came into the room.
Meanwhile, Miss Martian made a mind link with Phantom, 'Phantom, what are you doing?' She didn't get a response, she was already starting to worry, no one had any idea what was going on and Phantom was acting strange. All of a sudden Phantom phased through the wall again and he had something with him, he leaned it on the wall and looked at it.
It was an old animatronic suit that looked like a golden bear, Robin was the first one to figure out what the suit was and his eyes widened. Kid Flash spoke, "What's that?"
Phantom didn't take his eyes off the golden bear, "My suit." The heroes that hadn't figured it out yet looked shocked, Phantom removed the top hat from the suit and blew some of the dust off of it. "I missed this thing."
Green Arrow spoke, "Wait, you missed it?"
Phantom shrugged, "We're all attached to our suits, I might have almost died in mine but I still like my suit as morbid as that probably sounds." The heroes either looked worried or sad when they heard that, Phantom looked at the top hat for another few seconds before he spoke again. "I'm keeping this."
Artemis looked shocked and confused, "You seriously want to keep part of that thing?"
Phantom glared at her a little, "Don't insult my suit, and yes I want to keep part of it. I probably won't be able to keep the whole thing, which honestly makes me a little sad, but I at least want to keep part of it."
Now the heroes were confused again, they had no idea why Phantom would want to keep his suit. He said himself that he almost died in it and now he was saying he wanted to keep it, they just didn't get it. Phantom saw how confused they looked and mentally sighed, "I know it's weird, it's a ghost thing."
Phantom got the rest of the dust off of the top hat while the heroes stared at the suit, they found it odd. Looking at the suit gave them a bad feeling, like something bad happened, but it also felt familiar for some reason. Robin looked at the suit sadly, his boyfriend nearly died because of that suit, it played a role in the worst part of his life.
He couldn't understand why Phantom liked it so much, but he also could, after all he kept a poster of his parents act after they died. Sure he had bad memories because of it but he had good ones too, Phantom had his good memories of being with those kids. They were his first friends, for all he knew Phantom thought of them as family, so he could kind of understand Phantom's feelings.
Once Phantom was satisfied with the condition of the top hat he looked at the heroes, "I think there's one thing you'll really want to see."
The heroes looked slightly confused but Phantom just gave the suit a pat on the head before walking away. The heroes followed him and Phantom lead them to what looked like a hidden room, well, it was hidden anyway. The wall looked like it had been opened up to reveal a room that had been sealed up behind it, though it was too dark to see anything.
Phantom looked further into the darkness curiously before he saw something he hadn't expected to see. He stepped into the room and spoke, "How-."
Before he could do anything else something leapt at him from the darkness, it pushed him to the ground before heading toward the others. All anyone could see was a white and purple mask and a black figure before whatever it was passed through them. They all froze, all of a sudden everything changed around them and they looked around, the first thing they noticed was that Phantom was gone.
Then they noticed that they were outside, it looked like a playground, and soon they heard shouting. "You're just a freak!"
The heroes looked toward where the shouting was coming from, there was a group of five kids facing off against a group of six. They immediately noticed the kid with white hair and glowing green eyes, Phantom, who was protecting four others. The kid that seemed to be the leader of the group of six was the one that had spoken and seemed to be talking to Phantom.
Phantom rolled his eyes, "Is that supposed to be an insult?"
The kid seemed to get mad and Luke, who was holding onto Phantom's jacket, looked at the halfa nervously, "Don't make them mad."
Phantom didn't even glance at him and the leader spoke, "Do you want to get hurt?"
Phantom almost felt like laughing, this kid didn't know who he was talking to, "Oh so scary, you have the IQ of a rock and you're as intimidating as a butterfly. If you really want to try then be my guest but it'll just end badly for you, and I should warn you that I'm in a bad mood."
The kid seemed to get even angrier and he ran at Phantom who easily dodged the hit and grabbed the kids arm. He twisted it behind the kids back and he looked bored, the kid tried to get away but Phantom's grip was too tight. Phantom looked at the other kids, "Does anyone else want to try?"
The other kids looked scared and they ran away, Phantom let go of the kid that attacked him and he ran as well. Phantom brushed imaginary dust off his jacket and Ben spoke, "Where did you learn to do this stuff?"
Phantom looked at him, "Let's just say shit happens and leave it at that."
The four looked confused but before they could say anything a bell rang and Phantom winced slightly. He managed to hide it from the others and they all headed inside, the scene blurred and suddenly Phantom was outside the school. It looked like it was the end of the day and there were only a few other kids left outside the school.
The other kids were soon picked up which left Phantom alone, all of a sudden a figure appeared beside Phantom. "You seem to be doing well."
Phantom laughed humorlessly, "If you don't include the sadistic agents and annoying kids that seem to like pissing me off."
The figure, who seemed to be a ghost based on the fact that his skin was blue and he didn't have legs, laughed. "I suppose that's true, but at least you have friends now."
Phantom looked at him, "I guess, but you didn't come here just for a chat, so why are you really here Clockwork?"
Clockwork smiled a little, like he knew Phantom would say that, "It's my job to keep an eye on you. That includes finding out about who you spend time with and making sure you're okay, I'm simply doing my job."
Phantom rolled his eyes, "This isn't your job, maybe Dora or Frostbite, maybe Pandora, I could even see Fright Knight doing it, but not you."
Clockwork shrugged, "I've taken it upon myself to check on your well being."
Phantom shook his head but decided to change the subject, "So are you going to unfreeze everything any time soon?"
"I didn't think you'd be so eager to get back to your daily life."
"I'm not, but this is just prolonging the inevitable, it's not like this will make it so I don't have to go back to it eventually."
Clockwork looked at him, "You've resigned yourself to the tragic injustices of your life."
Phantom nodded, "It's easier that way."
Clockwork sighed quietly, "Nothing is easy about your life." The two sat there in silence, the heroes stared at the two and wondered who this ghost was and why Phantom had never mentioned him.
The scene changed again and Phantom was sitting in a strange room with what looked like mirrors. Clockwork was staring at them and Phantom looked at him, "So why did you bring me here this time, another small time jump? Am I supposed to skip more years of being stuck in that place and suddenly being unable to move for days?"
Clockwork shook his head, "I told you there was a reason for all of this, why I keep sending you to key points in the timeline. I sent you to them, the new location, to when he was supposed to die, and now you have spent another two years trapped in darkness. You are slowly being consumed by your guilt of not being able to save them, and of killing him, you can't live like this."
Phantom just looked tired now, his anger, his fear, all of it was gone, now he was just exhausted. "What other choice do I have, I'm still bonded to my suit, the other kids need me, they aren't like me Clockwork."
Clockwork looked him in the eye, "That's why I brought you here, you need to make one last jump. This time you'll finally be where you need to go, where you were always meant to end up, you can do what you were always meant to."
Phantom looked slightly confused, "Where am I going?"
Clockwork smiled, "You'll see, I think you'll find what you really need there."
Phantom stared at Clockwork for another minute or two before he stood up, without saying a word Clockwork made a portal. Phantom walked up to it, he was about to step through but he paused, he ran up to Clockwork and hugged him. Clockwork returned the hug before letting go and Phantom walked through the portal and he disappeared.
All of a sudden the heroes were back in the old location and Phantom groaned, "God damn it."
Superboy spoke, "What was that?"
"The Marionette, I don't know how she got here but she's definitely not happy, and now she's gone."
Artemis spoke, "What do you mean gone?"
Phantom stood up and looked at her, "She was here, now she's gone, but she decided to use her powers to fuck with us before she left."
Kid Flash spoke, "Wait, is that why we saw that stuff?"
"You mean the stuff with Clockwork?" The heroes nodded, "Yeah, she's got some interesting powers, don't get me wrong I have some of my own tricks but she's still powerful."
Miss Martian spoke, "But why was she here?"
Phantom mentally sighed, "Because this is where it happened, this room is where I killed William Afton."
