Chapter Twenty-one - The big day
~Five months later~
Tom and I stood in our bedroom, Tom watching me as I zipped up my suitcase.
"Let me get that." He spoke as he lifted it up from the bed.
"Thank you." I smiled, making him return it as I pecked his lips. I walked to the front door of the house, Tom following me with my bag as we headed out into the street, and to Haley's car. Today was finally it, today was the day before mine and Tom's wedding, and I couldn't wait. I wasn't to be mistaken, I was also shitting myself, but I couldn't believe that we were here. After everything that Tom and I had gone through in the last year and a half, it felt so surreal that we were less than twenty-four hours away from getting married. But we were here, and it had been worth every second. Tom carried my bag out to Haley's car and put it into the boot before closing it and looking at me.
"You got everything, my love? Your wedding dress, your makeup, your hair stuff, your lingerie-."
"Yes, Tommy, dirty bastard, I have everything!" I laughed and nodded. He smirked and returned the nod as he hugged me tightly. I returned it, tears already pricking my eyes in anticipation of our wedding as we buried our faces into each other's hair.
"The next time that I see you, you'll be Mrs Holland." He mumbled into my skin.
"And I can't wait." I nodded. He returned it as he pulled back, allowing me to see his face again as I leant in and kissed him. He returned it, our eyes fluttering shut and my hands holding his face as he rested his hands against my lower back. I broke the kiss and looked at him.
"I'll see you tomorrow." I nodded.
"Yeah, sweetheart, see you tomorrow. Drive safe, I love you." He spoke gently as his eyes flicked over my face.
"I love you too." I replied, making him smile as I pecked his lips one more time before climbing into the car.
"Look after my girl for me!" Tom yelled to Haley.
"Will do, lover boy!" she laughed, making both Tom and I return it as she started to drive us away. My smile dipped as Tom became smaller in the windshield mirror, tears starting to prick my eyes at the enormity of everything. The next time that I saw Tom...I would be marrying him. I couldn't wait, but naturally it was also making me very emotional. I sighed and bit my lip in a weak attempt to hold back the tears, making Haley look at me.
"Oh, come on, girl, you'll see him again tomorrow, and you've not been apart for half a year." She chuckled, making me halfheartedly return it as she gently patted my leg.
"I know, but...the next time that I see him, I'm going to be married to him. I'm going to be his wife, I'm going to be Mrs Holland." I choked and shook my head. She looked at me.
"What, are you reconsidering it?" she asked.
"No, no." I scoffed and shook my head as I looked at her.
"Then what's the issue, babe?" she smiled. I returned it and looked at her as a tear left my eyes.
"I just can't wait."
Tom's P.O.V
Tom sat in front of the TV in Harrison and Haley's living room, the boy bored out of his mind and also not tired in the slightest as he aimlessly flicked through the TV channels.
"Tom?" he looked over the back of the sofa and sighed as Harrison walked in, his best friend tiredly rubbing his eyes as he entered the room.
"Mate, it's two in the morning, what are you doing up?" he scoffed. Tom shrugged and turned back to the TV.
"I can't sleep without Y/N." he mumbled, his mind wanting nothing more than to have Y/N in his arms right now as he went back to flicking through the channels. Though, the knowledge that they were only parted because it was the night before their wedding helped him slightly, as did the fact that this time tomorrow night, they'd be doing things more...explicit...than just cuddling.
"Aww, that's cute." Harrison chuckled as he sat next to Tom. He returned it, though his foot nervously tapping against the floor deceived him as he continued to flick through the channels. Tom was incredibly excited about tomorrow, there was no doubt about that, but as with every big change, a healthy dose of anxiety accompanied that excitement too. Hence why his leg seemed to be ignoring every demand from his head to stop fucking bouncing already.
"Mate, if you're not careful, your foot will cave the floor in." Harrison teased lightly. Tom sighed and chucked the remote onto the table.
"Sorry, man. I'm just so, so nervous about tomorrow." He muttered. Harrison nodded and looked at him.
"That's understandable. You're getting married, I would be worried if you weren't nervous." He reassured, making Tom nod and bite his lip as he felt tears start to prick his eyes.
"I just...she's been dreaming of this day since she was a child. If it's not perfect, I won't forgive myself." He choked and shook his head.
"Tom, mate, your wedding is going to be beautiful. Even if it's not everything that she's ever dreamed of, she's not going to blame you. Don't worry, just focus on not forgetting your vows, and making sure that you guys have a good day." Harrison nodded. Tom returned it and sighed, his best friend's words reassuring him slightly. Because he was right. Whilst having a big wedding was nice and something that he was excited for, ultimately the day was just about him and Y/N promising the rest of their lives to each other. That was all it was about, their love for each other. Tom just had to remember that.
"So, have you seen her dress yet?" Harrison asked.
"No, she insisted from the get-go that I was not allowed to see her dress, no matter what." He chuckled and shook his head.
"What do you want to see her in?" he asked. Tom thought for a moment, his mind automatically going to the parts of Y/N's body that he loved most to help him think of what he'd want to see her in as he smiled slightly.
"I'd love to see her in something flowing. Like, a tight top with a flowing skirt. But at the end of the day, she's going to look amazing in anything that she wears." He smiled, making Harrison return it.
"I just, I can't wait to be married to her. I can't wait to start a family with her. God, Haz, you have no idea how much I love that girl." He scoffed and shook his head, his heart and mind more full of love than he ever thought possible as he thought about Y/N and bit his lip.
"Mate, I'm married, of course I do!" He laughed.
"Oh, yeah." Tom smiled, making Harrison smirk and shake his head as he jokingly punched Tom's bicep.
"As much as this is a lovely conversation, mate, you really should get to bed. You're getting married in the morning, and it's not like you're going to get any sleep tomorrow night." Harrison smirked, making Tom return it and shake his head.
"I fucking hope not, anyway. But yeah, you're right, I'll go to bed. Goodnight, man." He nodded as he stood up.
"Goodnight." Harrison returned, Tom giving his best friend a small smile as he headed back down the hall, and disappeared into his room.
Y/N's P.O.V
I opened my eyes slowly, my body being pulled out of sleep as I squinted at the morning light that was flooding into the hotel room. The sun streamed in through the hotel windows, the light dancing over the crisp white sheets as the morning sun lit up the beautiful space. I grabbed my phone and looked at the time, the numbers glowing back at me to say seven-thirty a.m. I groaned and closed my eyes, everything in me saying that it was way too early to be awake, even on my wedding day as I rolled over and hugged my pillow. I sighed and tried not to cry, my heart longing for it to be Tom as I held it close to me.
"Today is the big day!" my door burst open and Haley ran in, making me groan and reluctantly peel my eyes open as she held up a bottle of champagne.
"Isn't it too early to be drinking?" I chuckled tiredly as I forced myself to sit up in bed.
"What the fuck is wrong with you-no! It's your wedding day, babe, it's never too early to be drinking." She smirked, making me smile and shake my head as she poured me a glass.
"I do want to remember marrying Tom, you know." I teased as I took the glass from her.
"One glass won't get you drunk." She smirked before unzipping the garment bag that held my wedding dress. I bit my lip, tears pricking my eyes as I looked once again at the wedding dress that I had utterly fallen in love with the second that I had tried it on. Everything about it was perfect, and I couldn't wait for Tom to see it. I couldn't wait to marry Tom in it.
"Let's get you ready."
Tom's P.O.V
Tom climbed out of the car, his lips releasing shaky breaths and his trembling fingers just about managing to do up his tuxedo button as he got out. He gulped harshly, his heart already pounding so loudly with the nerves as he looked up at the beautiful manor hotel that him and Y/N were getting married in.
"Tom." He looked to the side and gave Y/N's parents a small smile as they walked towards him.
"Hi, guys, it's amazing to see you again." He smiled, shaking her dad's hand and kissing her mum's cheek.
"So, how are you feeling?" her mum asked.
"Nervous, but okay." He nodded.
"Good. I wouldn't let you marry my daughter if you weren't feeling scared." Her dad teased, making him chuckle and bite his lip.
"Tom, mate, Y/N is nearly here, so we should get you inside." Harrison spoke as he appeared next to Tom. He nodded before turning back to Y/N's parents.
"I'll see you in there." He smiled.
"Okay, Tom. Good luck." They nodded. He returned it, the boy starting to feel sick to his stomach as he headed into the hotel.
Tom tapped his foot nervously against the marble floor as he stood at the front of the gorgeous room in which him and Y/N would get married as he waited for her to arrive.
"Haz, mate, can you sort out my tie once more, please?" Tom mumbled.
"No, man, you look fine, stop fretting." Harrison chuckled. He sighed and nodded, the sound of his blood rushing through his body audible in his ears as he looked at the closed doors of the room. His eyes widened, his heart violently jumping in his chest as the doors opened, and the music started to play. People stood up and the bridesmaids started to walk down the aisle, Tom gulping harshly and his eyes unwaveringly glued to the doorway so that he'd see Y/N the second that she walked out. And then...it happened. Tom's eyes widened further as Y/N started to walk, tears immediately pricking his eyes as he saw her. Fuck, she looks stunning, he thought. She was wearing exactly what he had wanted her to, a stunning white dress that hugged her chest and torso before flowing into a big skirt when the dress reached her waist. Tom could see how flawless her makeup was, even from this distance, and a beautiful lacy veil covered her face and flowed down her back, the breeze picking it up slightly as she walked. A tear fell from his eye as he continued to stare at her, his heart never having been so sure of anything before in his life. She was it. She was the woman that he was utterly in love with, and he was only being reminded more of that as she walked towards him. She smiled at him, making him return it and admire her through tear-filled eyes as she gripped her bouquet and continued to get closer to him. After what felt like an eternity, she reached him and handed the bouquet to her dad before kissing him on the cheek. Her dad gave them both a small smile before she turned to Tom. He smiled and bit his lip at her, his mind still absolutely astonished that he was actually getting to marry her as he raised his hands, and took her veil in between his fingers. He bit his lip as he lifted it and put it over her head so that it was resting against the rest of her veil. His eyes wavered, his soon-to-be-wife somehow becoming even more beautiful without the thin layer of fabric covering her face.
"Y/N, sweetheart, you look...you look stunning." He choked and shook his head. She smiled and bit her lip, a tear falling from her eye as they just stared at each other. It was as if everyone else had disappeared, it was as if they were the only two people in the whole world, let alone just this room.
"You ready to do this?" she asked.
"I've been ready since the day that I met you." He nodded. She smiled and returned it, making him bite his lip as they both turned towards the officiator.
Y/N's P.O.V
"You may kiss the bride." The officiator smiled. Tom curled his arms around my waist, his hands resting against my lower back as he leant down and kissed me. I returned it and smiled into it, our eyes fluttering shut and my hands holding his face as everyone clapped and cheered. Tom broke the kiss and smiled at me, me returning it and biting my lip as Tom took my hand and intertwined our fingers. He started to walk us back down the aisle as people cheered and clapped, both of us laughing and cheering too as I held up my bouquet in celebration. We walked out of the manor hotel and laughed as everyone threw confetti at us.
"Can I get a photo?" the photographer asked, making Tom and I nod as we turned to look at each other. I smiled and bit my lip, Tom returning it and flicking his eyes over my face as he took my waist. He leant down and kissed me, me returning it as our eyes fluttered shut. I squealed against his lips, making him smirk as he gently dipped me, his arm solidly hooking around my waist to stop me from falling as his other hand held my thigh against his waist through my dress. The photographer snapped the photo, my hand holding the back of his neck and my other hand letting my bouquet dangle as we kissed. After a moment, Tom gently pulled me back up, both of us smirking and laughing as he pressed his lips to the side of my head.
Tom and I walked into the reception, our hands joined and fingers intertwined as we entered. We laughed and smiled as everyone cheered, my heart so fucking happy at the feeling of both my engagement ring and now wedding ring on my finger as I rested my hand on Tom's chest, and he hooked his arm around my waist. I bit my lip and looked at him, my husband returning the glance and trying not to look at my lips in front of all of our guests as Tom walked me to the head table. We both took our seats, my heart fluttering as Tom pulled my chair out for me and let me sit down before sitting down next to me seconds later.
"Okay, so Tom didn't want to wait a long time to have his first dance with Y/N as a married couple, so he asked me to keep this short and sweet." Harrison chuckled, making Tom and I smile at each other and Tom rest his hand on my thigh underneath the table as everyone laughed and murmured.
"I've known Tom for a long time. Growing up with him, through teenage years and our early twenties, he was adamant that he never wanted to be tied down, no matter what happened. That all changed when he met Y/N." Harrison smiled. Tom returned it, making me bite my lip as he continued to gently massage my thigh through my wedding dress.
"From the moment that he met Y/N, not a single bad word about her slipped his lips. He was always saying how perfect she was, whether that was in the way that she made him a better person, in the way that her smile blocked out any fears that he had, or in the way that her voice calmed him down whenever something was wrong." He spoke. I smiled up at Harrison for his words, my lip in between my teeth as I desperately tried not to cry. All of Harrison's words were making memories of Tom and I together flood back, and I was loving every second of it.
"The point that I'm trying to make is that they complete each other. So, I wish both of you the best of luck in your life together. Congrats, guys, I love you both so much." He nodded as he raised his glass of champagne. Everyone cheered and raised their glasses too, me and Tom gently clicking our champagne flutes together before taking sips from them. Harrison sat down as everyone clapped, and mine and Tom's song started to play. My heart immediately jumped in excitement, butterflies fluttering in my stomach as Tom and I looked at each other.
"Time for our first dance, my love." He smiled as he stood up and reached out his hand. I returned his smile and gently placed my hand into his before standing up. Tom bit his lip as he walked us to the dance-floor, our gazes never leaving each other as we seemingly glided across the floor. Our focus was on nothing else, everyone else having seemingly disappeared as Tom and I just focused on being with each other. He pulled me into his body, resting one hand on the small of my back as he held my hand with his other. I couldn't help but just stare into his stunning eyes, him returning the look as we just fell more in love with each other by the second. I couldn't believe that we were finally here. It had been years in the making, and challenge after challenge that were surely meant to break us apart, but they had always failed. Tom and I were truly soulmates, we were meant to be together, and that had been proved today. We were married, and I was already loving every second of it.
"You look absolutely stunning, sweetheart. And I can't believe that you're finally my wife. You're finally Mrs Holland." He breathed and shook his head.
"God, it feels so good to hear you say that, Mrs. Holland." I sighed in bliss and let my eyes flutter shut, making Tom laugh and gently kiss the side of my head as he softly twirled me around. We continued to sway to the music, Tom's lips against the side of my head and my eyes fluttering shut as we both just let each other be in each other's arms. This was perfect, and I wanted to remember every second of it. Tom pulled me further into his body so that he could rest his cheek against my hair. I held onto his neck and played with the curls at the nape of his neck as I let himself just sink into his arms. Everything was perfect, and I wanted to let myself live in that moment. Tom was it for me, and right now, it felt like we were the only ones in the world. I couldn't ask for anything more.
