Chapter Twelve - The anniversary party

Y/N's P.O.V

Tom drove us along the road, absolutely stunning landscapes of trees and woodland on either side of the car as we drove to the hotel for Haley and Harrison's anniversary party. I stared out of the window, my mind utterly at peace as we just drove along the country road to the sound of nothing more than birdsong. It was so quiet and beautiful, and as much as I was a city girl at heart, I had to admit that getting lost in nature would also be nice once in a while. I was pulled from my thoughts by Tom's hand landing on my thigh, making me turn and give him a small smile as he looked at me.

"You okay, my love?" He chuckled, his gorgeous chocolate eyes flicking between me and the road as he continued to drive.

"Yeah, just thinking." I nodded.

"About what?" He smiled, making me return it and bite my lip as I looked back out of my window.

"How beautiful it is out here. How quiet it is in the most perfect way possible. It's so beautiful and serene. You can just be with yourself out here, and I love that." I sighed in bliss.

"I agree, darling, it is beautiful. Maybe then the answer is for us to get married at the same hotel when we get married." He shrugged. My eyes widened, my heart violently jumping in my chest as I looked back at him.

"When we get married?" I scoffed. Tom's eyes widened, his Adam's apple bobbing in a gulp and his eyes timidly looking at me as he also realised what he'd just said.

"Shit-I'm sorry, love, I don't mean to sound presumptuous. But we have talked about it, and marriage feels like the natural next step." He nodded and shrugged, his eyes now glued to the road, as if he was afraid of my reaction. I bit my lip as my eyes stayed on him, though.

"'When' sounds good." I nodded as I spoke quietly. Tom visibly relaxed, making me smile and bite my lip as he chuckled and looked at me.

"Yeah, sweetheart?" He asked hopefully. I nodded again, only making his smile widen as we pulled up to the hotel. Tom stopped the car in front of the hotel, both of us climbing out and looking up at the gorgeous building that we hadn't been to in two years as we did.

"Hey, bitch!" Haley squealed as she ran down the stairs of the manor and straight into my arms.

"Hey!" I laughed, the force of our hug almost knocking me off of my feet as Tom and Harrison hugged too.

"So, are you guys excited for a night of insane partying?" she smirked as we walked in.

"Don't kid yourself, Haley, any night with you is an insane party night." I teased.

"Too fucking right." She scoffed, making me laugh as we linked arms and started to walk into the manor, followed by the boys.

"It's going to be a big night, mate." Harrison smirked as he patted Tom on the back. Tom nodded and gulped, a look of pure terror spreading over my boyfriend's face within seconds at Harrison's words.

"You okay, Tommy?" I asked with furrowed eyebrows. Somehow Tom looked even more panicked as I asked that, something definitely wrong with my boyfriend as he gave me a tight smile. The issue was that I didn't know what the problem was.

"Yeah, I'm, um, I'm just a bit hot. I'll be okay, sweetheart." He nodded.

"Okay. I'll take the bags up to the room, you get some fresh air." I spoke.

"Alright, thank you, darling." He gave me a small smile, making me return it and kiss him as I took the bags, and started to head towards the lift.

The music blared through the ballroom of the manor hotel as people danced on the marble floor, and enjoyed Haley and Harrison's party. I sat at one of the tables and just watched, a smile on my lips as I watched Harrison and Tom dance only a matter of feet away from me. Tom spotted me, making my smile widen as he gestured me over with his hand. I smirked and shook my head, a laugh leaving my lips as he playfully rolled his eyes before starting to dance towards me. He was such a fucking nerd, but at least he was my fucking nerd.

"Darling, come on, dance with me." He yelled so that he'd be heard over the music.

"I don't know, Tommy-."

"Come on, sweetheart. It's our two-year anniversary, give me a dance." He smiled. I chuckled and shook my head, my eyes playfully rolling at my boyfriend as I stood up and gently placed my hand into his.

"That sounds so weird. That it's our two-year-anniversary." I smiled, making Tom return it as we walked to the dance-floor. I looped my arms over his shoulders as he rested his hands on the small of my back, his gaze flicking lovingly over my face like it always did as we started to gently sway to the music. Tom's gorgeous eyes continued to travel across my face, the boy seemingly admiring every line and crease for the millionth time tonight alone as his gaze moved between my eyes and my lips.

"You look so beautiful tonight, my love. I mean, you always look beautiful, you're just something else." He breathed and shook his head. I bit my lip and tried not to cry at his words. Even after two years together, he never failed to make me feel like the most beautiful girl in the world, he never failed to come up with new compliments to make me feel special all over again. And for that, I'd never be able to love him enough.

"Thank you. You don't look too bad yourself." I teased with the same line that I always teased Tom with. He smirked and stuck his tongue in his cheek.

"Would it kill you to say that I look good, just once?" He returned my teasing as his gaze settled on my lips.

"Yes." I nodded, making him laugh and shake his head as he leant down and gently kissed me. I returned it, my eyes fluttering shut, and my hands raising to hold his face as we both enjoyed the intimate moment that we'd had so many of, but would also never get tired of. He broke the kiss and gave me another small smile, making me return it as he gently rested his cheek against my head. I rested my head in the crook of his neck in turn, letting him sway us to the music, and letting myself sink further into his arms as I just enjoyed dancing with the love of my life.

I stood on the balcony of the hotel, my cigarette in between my red lips as I stared out over the vast gardens of the hotel. I took the cigarette out and blew the smoke out into the black sky. I sighed out, looking out at the beautiful trees and fields that were linked to the hotel. It was hard to believe that the last time that I'd been here, I hadn't been anyone special, I had just been a twenty-five-year-old woman who was here for my best friend's wedding to her dream guy, and who was wishing that she had someone to share it with, like Haley had Harrison. Never in my wildest dreams would I have guessed that Tom would have rocked up only moments after that train of thought, and changed my life forever. Now, I couldn't even fathom the idea of being single again, mainly because I didn't want to be. I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Tom, wanted to be in his arms and kissing his lips. He was it for me. And it almost felt like I'd known that here, two years ago, when I had met him for the very first time.

"You okay, darling?" I snapped out of my thoughts as a voice called out behind me. I turned around, a smile curling onto my lips as Tom walked out onto the balcony with his hands in his trouser pockets. Even after two years together, he was still the most stunning guy that I'd ever known. His gorgeous hazel curls were exactly how they'd been that night, a little unruly and untamed, but that was how I loved them.

"Yeah, I just needed a smoke." I shrugged as he appeared next to me and wrapped his arm around my waist.

"Ah." He nodded before taking the cigarette from me and putting it in between his lips.

"Oy." I chuckled.

"What? I'm out of cigs." He smiled at me. My eyebrows furrowed.

"But you haven't smoked in three months, so why are you suddenly smoking again now?" I scoffed and shook my head. I hadn't seen Tom so much as touch my cigarettes for the last few months, so I didn't know why he was choosing to now.

"You know that I smoke when I'm nervous." He shrugged and looked down. I kept my eyes on him, my mind getting more confused and suspicious of my boyfriend by the second as I studied his face.

"Why are you nervous, Tommy?" I questioned.

"Because I need to ask you something." He nodded before raising his gaze to look at me again. My eyes narrowed at him.

"Ask me what?" I asked slowly. He bit his lip, the boy taking a deep breath as he stamped out the cigarette before getting something out of his pocket. And then everything stopped. Before I knew what was happening, Tom was getting down on one knee, making my eyes widen, and a choke leave my lips as my hands shot up to cover my mouth.

"Tommy." I choked, making him smile and nod as tears also started to prick his eyes.

"Y/N, darling, the last two years of my life with you have been hellish, fast-paced, upsetting, amazing, fucking awesome, all at the same time." He chuckled, making me laugh as tears started to run down my face, and my heart pounded so violently in my chest that I was worried that it would jump straight out of my skin.

"I know that this sounds so cliché, but I knew that you were the one from the moment that I met you. You looked so perfect with the moonlight bouncing off of your skin, and your eyes, and your hair. You just looked...wow." He breathed and shook his head as he looked up at me. I returned the gaze and just smiled, my heart and mind happily taking in every incredible word as tears streamed down both of our faces.

"I wanted to ask you to marry me as soon as I met you, but I knew that you'd say no, so I figured that I'd wait two years, and then hope for the best." He chuckled, making me laugh again and shake my head at his teasing.

"So, Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N, would you do me the honour of becoming my wife?" he asked as he opened the velvet box to reveal the most stunning engagement ring that I'd ever seen. My eyes widened at the sight of it.

"Oh my god, it's beautiful." I choked, the moonlight seemingly reflecting perfectly off of the rock in the middle of the ring as I looked at it. Tom gulped and looked up at me expectantly.

"Oh, Tommy." I cried, my hands still shaking as I leant down and took his face before kissing him passionately. He returned it, our eyes fluttering shut and his hands holding my waist as he rose to his feet. He broke the kiss and looked at me.

"So, is that a yes?" he smiled.

"Yes, Tom, oh my god, yes!" I laughed. He returned it before taking the ring out of the box and sliding it onto my shaking finger. I smiled before taking his face and kissing him again, his hands gripping my hips as he returned it.

"My boy is officially tied down!" We broke the kiss and looked to the side. My eyes widened as Harrison and Haley, as well as everyone else, stood at the balcony doors as they cheered and clapped. I laughed and buried my face in Tom's neck, Tom laughing too and shaking his head as he tightly hugged me.

"I love you, Tommy. So, so much." I choked as I looked up at him.

"I love you too, darling. And I can't wait to finally marry you." He smiled. I returned it before taking his face and kissing him again, the engagement ring feeling nothing short of perfect against my finger as my mind tried to process the fact that I had actually been given it. Tom and I were actually going to get married.

Tom and I stumbled into our hotel room, laughing and giggling as we kept our lips together. I started to pull his jacket off of his shoulders, prompting him to quickly shrug it off before starting to unbutton his shirt. I pulled my top over my head and unzipped my skirt as Tom pulled his shirt off, both of us laughing and smiling at each other in pure joy at the night's events as our hands roamed each other's bodies. Tom smirked as he joined our lips again, his hands roaming my back as he pulled me into his chest, and I curled my hands around the back of his neck to gently pull on his curls.

"I can't believe that I finally get to marry you." He smiled against my lips as he started to unbuckle his belt.

"I've been waiting for you to ask since we first met." I replied as I reached my hands down and helped him to unzip his trousers. He smirked before lifting me up and placing me on the bed before crawling over me, making me squeal and giggle as he immediately leant down and placed open-mouthed and nippy kisses on my neck.
