ChapterThree-Harvard Boys 

September 6th, 2006

 It's the next day. A few hours after most of the UTurn members left for school, Riley woke up. She made herself breakfast, then sat in front of the TV. She thought to herself, Another boring day. Shopping's not the same without the other girls. I already have a job. I guess I could meet up the few friends I have remaining. They're probably attending Harvard.

 So Riley called her friends. Most of her friends were attending other universities and colleges outside Boston. But there a few friends living in Boston, and attending Harvard. Luckily, her friends had a lunch break before they left for their classes. So Riley got in her car, and left immediately. 

 Riley was somewhat familiar with the campus. She took part on a campus tour a few years earlier. She was actually accepted into Harvard, and was going to become a psychiatrist. But she joined UTurn, and had to drop everything. Her parents didn't approve of her decision, but they didn't stop her.

 She met up with her friends, Kim, Shelby, and Amber, at a on-campus food court. They grabbed some lunch, and sat outside.

 Kim asked, "So how is it being in the world-famous pop group, UTurn?"

 Riley said, "I like it actually. It's not a solo career, but I can see this band be my launching pad. Did you know that everyone in the band is from that posh public school, Beacon Hill High?"

 Amber exclaimed, "Like, OMFG, shut up!"

 Shelby asked, "Are they spoiled brats?"

 Riley said, "Not all of them are, but for some of them, they come off as that. Let me ask you this: Do have a crush on any of the guys?"

 Amber gushed, "Andrew is super-hot, but I love Justin's accent."

 Shelby and Kim agreed.

 Riley asked, "What happened to Ethan?"

 Kim said, "Well, Ethan is, um, seems closed off from everyone."

 Shelby added, "And a bit crazy. He seems crazy."

 Amber said, "But he's got good style."

 Riley sais "Well, I'm not supposed to say this because our PR people told us not to, but Andrew is dating Alyson, and Justin is with Bailey. Ethan is actually crazy. He has some weird vendetta on Andrew. No one knows why."

 Riley's friends were shocked to hear this.

 Kim said, "Wow, that's crazy!"

 "Totally."

 Just then, Riley stared at a guy walking by. He was dressed, head-to-toe, in Abercrombie. Her friends noticed that.

 Kim said, "Ooo, you like him!"

 Riley blushed, "I do not!"

 Shelby explained, "He's Marcus Evans. He's a sophomore here, and he's majoring in medicine so he can become a surgeon. He's from Newark, New Jersey, and he's 20. Oh, and he's single and straight."

 The girls looked at her. She said, "What? I shared a class with him. And he's a nice guy."

 Amber said to Riley, "Go up to him!"

 Riley said, "No! He'd never go for a teen popstar!"

 Kim said, "You'd never know."

 Riley thought for a moment. Then she and her friends left the food court as her friends left for class. Riley tried to find Marcus, but he was no where to be seen.

 It's now afternoon. Riley arrived at Q Division Studios for a recording session. She waited for the other members to arrive. Once they did, all the members entered a boardroom for a meeting. The members noticed Riley was grinning.

 Ethan asked bitterly, "What's the matter with you?"

 Alyson asked, "Ooo, you met a cute guy?"

 Bailey, Stacie, and even Amanda leaned towards Riley. She blushed as she explained, "Well, I met up with a few friends of my mine at Harvard. As we were talking, I saw the most cutest guy I've ever seen!"

 "What's his name?"

 "One of my friends told me his name is Marcus."

 Stacie asked, "Did you talk to him?"

 Riley said, "I tried to find him as soon as my friends left, but he was gone."

 Riley pouted, and the girls all hugged her. The boys felt awkward about this conversation. Just then, a couple of producers and Maurice entered the boardroom. 

 Maurice said, "I see everyone's here. Anyway, the producers here have worked Disney pop acts, such as Hilary Duff and High School Musical. They've made some demos for you to listen to. Now, I know you've already recorded a few songs for your EP, but those will be remixed. Here's what you're second album is projected to sound like."

 Maurice played the CD. It had a few songs. The UTurners weren't exactly pleased by what they heard. Alyson said, "This sounds like cheesy pop-rock. Aren't we supposed to be pop-dance?"

 Andrew said, "Yeah, and the lyrics are cheesy compared to our first album."

 Maurice said, "We have new songwriters. Look, we're doing this new spin on the second album."

 Alyson asked angrily, "Without us knowing?"

 Maurice asked sternly, "Do you want to get dropped from your label?"

 The members were stunned by Maurice's response. But they reluctantly agreed to record the second album.

 It's now around late evening, and UTurn arrived at their house. Luckily they had a chef, so they ate dinner. While eating, they talked about their recording session.

 Amanda said, "Those songs we recorded are kiddy crap."

 Ethan said, "Looks like we'll be Kidz Bop."

 "F*ck no! We ain't gonna become that!"

 Bailey said, "Calm down, guys! Our new material may be more cheesy than our debut album, but we're not gonna be some kid-pop band. We're pushing 20 right now since most of us are 17...while Riley is 19."

 Alyson then asked, "And is it just me, or is Maurice becoming controlling?"

 Andrew said, "He does seem controlling. He's choosing our music style without us knowing. Now, while I doubt we'll be turning into a Kidz Bop-like band, I do feel something's not right."

 Ethan taunted, "And what are you gonna do? You're too busy getting slammed into lockers!"

 Andrew was stunned. Alyson scolded, "F*ck off, Ethan!"

 Ethan rolled his eyes.
