I was browsing my Spotify playlist when I hear a car horn and yelling. “Who is honking and yelling at 9’oclock? So not normal right now for this town. I get up from my bed and look out the window. I see a Black Range Rover and a red Honda honking at the Range Rover. They drove off fast. I wonder what that was all about. I hop back into my bed and start browsing my Spotify playlist again. “I am going to go to work sweetie. Will you be alright?” Asked my mother when she opened my door. “Yeah, I’ll be fine.” “Alright, I am going to put the alarm system on so don’t go out tonight. The sheriff said there has been things going on and he wants everyone to be safe for this week.” “Alright mom, love you.” “Love you too.” She says and closes my door. My mom works at the hospital. She has been working extra shifts trying to keep up with her bills. Even though I have a job at the Café in town, she still won’t let me help. She wants me to save it for college. I guess when dad left, he didn’t leave her money. All he left was this big brick house. My mom works her ass off now. I just want to help her but she won’t let me at all. My phone begins to ring. “Hello?” I ask. “Hey boo, guess what?” “What is it?” “I FOUND THE BOOK!” “Oh my god, are you serious right now?” So freaking serious. I will be at your house in a few minutes. I had to go to this freaking huge ass store in……” “JUST SHUT UP AND BRING ME THE DAMN BOOK SHAY!” I said and hug up the phone. Shay has been my best friend ever since 4th grade. We tell each other everything. She is like a sister to me. I just recently found out that she was a Xana. Which is a water spirt. I was shocked when she told me. I was like, “What the hell is a Xana?” then she told me that her spirt is five hundred years old. And that her beauty comes from this spirt that was living five hundred years ago in Austria. That’s why she was incredibly gorgeous. Like every guy falls for her just for her looks. Shay has long Blonde hair with bright blue eyes. She can control water with her mind and hands. I had no idea mythological creatures even existed. But now, I know anything is possible. “Coming up your street ass wipe.” My phone said on the screen. I put on my shoes and climb down my window. I seen that Range Rover again but I pretend not to notice. It was parked in front of my house. I ran over to the corner and waited for Shay to come up. Her silver car Brights up in the moonlight. She parks her car and walks over to me. “Here you go.” She says. “Oh my god, thank you so much Shay.” “I looked everywhere for that book. I had to go to Seattle to get it.” “I know it would be hard. But I really do appreciate it. You are seriously the greatest best friend ever.” “I know.” She says and flips her hair back. We start to laugh. “I have to get going because we have school tomorrow and my mom’s already pist that I’m not home yet. So I’ll see you tomorrow.” She says and Blows me a kiss while getting into her car. “Bye!” I responded and she drove off. I begin walking back and I see a dark figure with red eyes. My heart starts beating more rapidly. It was hard to make out his face. Then the moonlight shines brighter and I see who it was. Ryder Fritz. The star athlete of our school, heavens woods high. Why was he in front of my house? My heart begins to beat faster and butterflies begin in my stomach. He gets out of his car and walks across the street to Sutton Smith’s house. Of course he would be going to a girl’s house right now. I laughed to myself and I begin to walk back to my house. I feel someone watching me and I slowly turn around. But nothing was in sight. Not even Ryder.
