The Black Ranger

It was a scramble to return to their feet as the now group of five raced around the ruins of the school trying to desperately avoid the assault from the sky. Cam was leading the way, the person with the obvious best knowledge of the place, considering he had spent his whole life there. He lead the four students to a spot in the ground, one of which held a hatch that Ellie was sure she had never seen in her years of attending the school. But there was no real time to question the man on what this all was, considering the sky assault continued and the laser beams were getting closer and closer to their targets.

"Go, go go." Cam urged as he ushered the group to follow him down, Ellie in the middle her sister pushing her forwards to head down first. With Dustin the final one to enter the hatch slammed closed behind them as they ventured down a set of stairs to their destination unknown.

"Cam what is this place?" Shane asked his curiosity getting the best of him as his eyes darted around the dark place they were being led to.

"Just follow me." Cam left no room to argue, and for once sounded much like the leader Ellie knew he could amount to being. If only his father did not hold him back.

"Don't ask any questions as I can not answer them." Cam told the group as the room came to life revealing what Ellie thought to be a rather traditional looking Japanese room, if not for the massive supercomputer in the middle of it.

"Is it like some sort of secret?" Shane once again asked the obvious, something he did rather often.

"Yes it's like some sort of secret." Cam was irritated by some of the people he was surrounded by that was more than obvious if the eye roll did not instantly give it away.

"And there are times when secrets must be revealed Cam." Out came a moving, encloser? Of which inside was a talking Guinea pig. Of which made Ellie have to stop for a moment, she had seen a lot of things in her time as a ninja student especially considering what Sensei Morai had put her through for the sake of it. But never had she seen an animal talking. Except for that one occasion her Sensei had posed as a snake to scare her, a talking snake and had forever inserted the fear of snakes into the woman who had been no older than 14 at the time.

"Wow, that big rat sounds just like sensei." Shane noted and as the group came to terms with what they were seeing, Ellie was connecting the dots from her own experience. As it became more obvious that the Guinea pig in front of them was most likely Sensei Wantanabe. Which only led the question as to where was Sensei Morai. If one of them was able to get away unscathed, well only minorly affected then there was hope her own Sensei would walk around the corner at any point.

"Doesn't really look like him though except for the clothes." Dustin replied to his friend as he got closer to the encloser which looked like a mini house, to examine the Guinea Pig.

"My father is not a rat he is a Guinea Pig." Cam took offense to Shane and Dustin's words as he jumped in to save his currently rodent father.

"Dude did he just explain why and I just missed it." Dustin looked to Ellie for help but all she could do was shrug at him in response.

"He's stuck." Cam added on looking at Dustin in particular.

"Stuck?" Shane asked and Ellie turned towards her sister, who had been quiet for most of the time and as the two blondes made eye contact neither of them seemed to be able to say anything. Only Ellie looked to her older sister for a little bit of help, see if Tori could do or say anything to make things seem less strange and scary as they were at that moment in time. But Tori did not seem to be able to do this as the pair stood there, together facing something else unknown.

"Yes Shane stuck. Observe." Sensei Wantanabe spoke before flipping his little Guinea Pig body over to the computer screen to give them all another lecture. As if he hadn't even been affected at all that day by anything going on around them.

"This is Lothor, once a Ninja, he was banished from Earth when his hunger for power, turned him to the dark side. When our energy fields collided I was transformed into what you see in front of you. Now he has returned and has brought an army with him who will do everything they can to take the earth for their own. " Ellie took a second to wonder just where this video evidence of the attack had come from so fast before realising she did not want to know and or see anything else from that day in this very moment in time. Choosing rather to look away at the rest of the decorations of the room, taking to note how serious the whole room seemed and how much nicer it would be with just a little bit of personalisation.

"Who is going to be dumb enough to try and stop them."

"An excellent question Dustin." Sensei Wantanabe paused following his response to Dustin before turning to directly look at his son. "The morpher's Cam." He directed and Ellie watched as Cam's face of irritation changed to one of both shock and confusion at his father's words.

"Father you're not serious?"

"We have no choice." Sensei was as serious as he had ever sounded, as serious as he always sounded when Ellie saw him it was just taking a lot more getting use to to hear the words come from a Guinea Pig rather than a man.

"These guys? You mean them? They're... they're.." Cam was interrupted by Tori, who had taken offense at his words and interjected him from saying any more. However, despite being upset by Cam's words not knowing what he was trying to say but having thought of them being actual friends, Ellie chose to say nothing now, not when in a group but to talk to him later.

"They're what?" Tori spoke out, her obvious irritation at the things Cam had been hinting about the group.

"Yeah what? I don't like the way that sounded do you?"

"Actually dude I'm lost."

"Now Cam." At Sensei's words Cam walked off to one of the areas of the room returning with a ornate decorated box. He opened it up inside to reveal what looked like four rather obnoxious looking watch devices. They were larger than any watch Ellie had ever seen and rivalled probably the size of a sweat band. They also looked much more technically advanced than anything else she had seen before. And the way they were being presented to the group of four students obviously hinted that they were for them. She was just not sure what she was going to be able to do with something like that. And she wasn't sure she could be trusted with something that seemed so important.

"These are your power ranger wind morphers." Cam identified as he studied the group for their reactions.

"Yeah right" Tori was the first to respond to the news, instantly disagreeing to what had been presented in front of them.

"Yes see I knew it dude. Power rangers are real." Dustin had never seemed so happy to hear such words, as it would seem that his childhood dreams were becoming a reality.

"No way." Came the words of Shane as he was quick to take the morpher of which was held out to him.

"Dustin, child of the earth. True to the heart you will hold the powers of the yellow wind ranger."

"Tori, fluid and graceful like the water, you will become the blue wind ranger."

"Shane reaching for the stars, you will command the powers of the red wind ranger."

"And Elizabeth, brave and strong like the raging fires, you will finish the group as the black wind ranger. From this point you will be known as the wind power rangers, protectors of the Earth." Sensei finished his explanation as he looked to the youngest of the group, Ellie who had after velcroing her morpher to her left wrist taken the time to stare down at it, she did not look up at his words rather still taking in the entirety of what she had witnessed and discovered.

"What exactly does this thing do?" Shane finally broke the magic like spell that had been placed over the group as Sensei spoke, the fairytale like moment broken as the reality crashed down and the group had no clue what they were supposed to be doing.

"Where's the switch?" Tori asked as she tried to be more logical about what was going on.

"Does it have any games?" Dustin forever young at heart added to the conversation.

"No it doesn't have any games." Ellie finally spoke as she moved to give Dustin a slap on the shoulder, after all he was supposed to be the one who knew most about this kind of thing. He was the one obsessed with the power rangers and would therefore know that they did not hold games on their morphers. Even she knew that, but her words were enough to start the small group of four out in a petty argument as they spoke between themselves.

"Ladies and gentlemen the protectors of the Earth." Cam grumbled as he watched on, only for the group of new rangers to be interrupted by a loud beeping noise which came from the super computer.

"Lothor's army are invading, you must intercept them. Call on your powers by saying 'ninja storm, ranger form." And with his parting worlds the group were thrown out of their little hiding hole and into the world again. In the direction of where Lothor's army general was attempting to invade. It brought them to one of the beaches around Blue Bay harbour, of which there were many.

"Hey looking for us?" Shane tautned from where the group of four currently stood on the rock formations above the beech. Ellie looked on at the army general from space noting that she had firstly never seen anything like this general, before also realising that she was totally not ready for whatever battle she was about to be partaking in. "Okay, what is it again." Shane paused as the group argued a little about the call sign they had been informed of by Sensei before leaving.

"Dude, what and learn." Dustin turned to the group incredibly confident in his actions." Ninja storm, ranger form." And after his successfully morphing into a bright yellow spandex suited ranger the remaining three had to give him props for listening for once. "I guess nobody is laughing at the comic book geek now are they."

"Ninja Storm, ranger form." The three followed in suit. And Ellie looked down to see herself stood in a black and grey spandex suit. Her hate for the outfit already building within minutes, after all nobody particularly looked good in spandex. They just didn't.

But there was no time for talking or debating or even celebrating on successfully activating the morphers. After all there was a battle to commence, and Ellie headed straight down in the direction of the foot soldiers. Soldiers of which did not seem to be able to form words, only making sounds. And as a large enough group of foot solider surrounded her, Ellie took a moment to breath and recall the training Sensei Morai had given her.

"Okay Elizabeth you've got this. Flame on." She announced summoning the fire of which could be so difficult to control and directing it towards the foot soldiers, watching on as they were struck and collapsed in the direction of the ground. She did not have time to be proud of her own actions as her attention was once again drawn back towards the general as he attempted to taunt the group, she guessed into submission.

"You did well against a group of Kelzaks, but you will not win against me." And as he named the foot soldiers, Ellie knew she would have to do a little bit of research to see if she could find anything on them. That was if she had time to do so between school and her latest additional activity. As it felt like juggling law school whilst also trying to save the world was going to be a very difficult thing to accomplish.

It would not take the group of four a large amount of time as they worked together to defeat the general, the combination of their own ninja abilities along with the cannon like weapons they all held was enough to destroy the general and thwart his plans into doing much more damage. It was only the moment of which he seemed defeated that the group were able to come together for some serious words.

"That seriously happened?" Shane asked them all, the look of disbelief clear on his face.

"Yeah, that was awesome." Dustin announced gleefully as he did a little celebratory dance. And Ellie watched on as her friends celebrated, she wished she could celebrate with them for things did seem pretty cool. However, she could not get rid of the burning questions she required answers to.

What had happened to her Sensei?

Where was Sensei Morai? And was she okay?
