Chapter 4
"FOLIAGE! Dude wake up-"
Dark, originally planning to get Foliage up and running, was instead met with a vine dragging him across the room.
Figures, he thought as he made his way back to the wall Foliage managed to sleep against standing. Dark pushed Foliage roughly on the shoulder, causing them to fall over and almost dislocate a shoulder waking up.
"Talk about a rude awakening," Foliage said with a surprisingly deep morning voice.
Dark just grabbed Foliage's elbow and shook them until they were fully woken up. Foliage ended up getting ready on a schedule, especially with Dark hurrying them up to go to the Server.
"You're treating this like your life depends on it," Foliage muttered, clearly annoyed.
"It's not my life that depends on it- it's Purple's," Dark replied. "Did you already forget?"
"Right. Sorry," Foliage said under his breath.
Dark hit the button on the teleportation device, and after a whirl of color and a bit of motion sickness the two of them were in the abandoned city. Dark had chosen a conveniently empty house, and was quite thankful- he could hear a huge ruckus outside and was honestly perplexed as to why no one had thought of taking shelter. Only after he had observed all his surroundings did he realize that Foliage was half passed out on his shoulder- a consequence they'd also faced when teleporting back to the Dimension of Darkness the day before. Deciding against shoving Foliage off, he stood there awkwardly until Foliage had their senses back.
"Thanks," Foliage said, rubbing their eyes. Dark took a second, then immediately left the room, quietly going down a flight of stairs into a half burnt, half destroyed living space.
Not much of a living space anymore, Dark thought as he prepared himself to run out of the door.
"Wait-" Foliage said, grabbing Dark by the shoulder. "When you get to Purple, take him and scram. I'm planning to stay."
"How'd you know I was going to get his dead body?" Dark questioned.
"How else are you going to legitimately resurrect him?" Foliage asked as an answer.
"Good point," Dark answered before charging out the door.
Chaos. Absolute chaos.
The most noticeable thing was Red, running around with a bloody knife. Dark didn't even get a chance to guess what Red was going to do when Rainbow Road got brutally stabbed in the back, coughing up blood and dying as she hit the floor.
Dark cringed, both in fear and irony. He sent a shot of ink at Red's direction subconsciously- and while he did save more lives, he also got to see how someone would die when they came in contact with his ink.
The ink he shot hit Red at the base of his neck. It burned away at the contact point, then started eating at the rest of his figure. Blood dripped out as Red screamed in pain, head eventually falling off of his body and withering away like the rest of him. Bits of guts spilled out as ink and blood were splattered all over the place. The only thing left that proved Red's existence were the clothes he'd been wearing, sweater burned away where the base of his neck was supposed to be.
Immediately after, Thief and Quest jumped out of nowhere, trying to pin Dark down so they could kill him off. Dark kicked Quest in the stomach while Thief managed to grab Dark's arm in return and pull him down. In response, a bolt of ink was sent at Thief straight through his heart, having him face a painful, untimely death. One hand holdings knife, Quest elbowed Dark straight in the ribs only to be shot with ink, too.
But when Dark pulled his hand away, some droplets of ink sprayed across the area. One of them managed to hit Baby, who was waddling around trying to find his mother. Dark looked away and ran before Big Orange saw him.
It didn't take a genius to know that it was Baby screaming in pain as the last bits of his life melted away, but it did take a mind like Dark's to know that the splurt that followed was Big Orange driving Quest's knife straight through her heart.
