Long Live The Queen
The whole even was beyond magical, the day was filled with joy, laughter, and everything that Zorya considered joyful. That night, she decided to focus on good people, on everyone that supported her and made her happy, for them she will be the best queen they could ever imagine, but when it comes to others...
"You didn't tell me that our new Queen is able to make our little brother so happy." Tall, short haired man laughed at Jonah.
"I am telling you brother, I have never seen him like this since the tragedy that happened." Jonah said watching Darius and Zorya together.
"I am just afraid that the people will not accept her like Darius did." He man replied when Darius approached him with Zorya by his side.
"My queen." The man said and bowed his head to her, and so did Jonah which made Zorya feel slightly uncomfortable because she wasn't used to such a treatment.
"Zorya, I would like you to meet my brother Avram." Darius smiled at his brother. Zorya haven't seen him around before, because Avram was mostly traveling around other kingdoms and deal with trading.
"I am glad to finally be able to meet you in person my Queen. I have listened many stories about you." Avram said and kissed Zorya's hand.
"I hope only good stories." Zorya answered nervously.
"Well when I visited Gora Nevskaya to finish the work I had with trade, I heard so much, your people are almost worshipping you." Avram answered.
'You were there? How are my parents? Are my people alright?" Zorya couldn't control her emotions, even if she was now a Queen of another kingdom, she still referred to people of Gora Nevskaya as her own.
"They are fine my Queen, and they send their regards to you, hopping that you will meet each other again one day." Avram answered.
Zorya felt her heart dancing with joy inside of her chest when she heard his words. The mention of the place that used to be her home made her feel the sweet taste of nostalgia on her lips.
"I will make sure that we arrange the journey to Gora Nevskaya after the winter passes." Darius answered after seeing Zorya's excited face.
After Zorya and Darius had a chance to be alone for a moment, Zorya looked at him nervously.
"I am sorry for not being able to control my emotions, I don't think that the Queen should do something like that." Zorya said.
"The shouldn't ever apologize, let alone for showing emotions. You are more passionate then the most people I know, never apologize for being unique." Darius answered to her.
Upon hearing the word passionate, Zorya's mind escaped to the thoughts of the first wedding night, the night she should spend with him. Zorya shivered, the thought about losing her virginity to him made her nervous, but at the same time she feel happy that it will be with someone like Darius, who never seemed to judge her, not even when the two of them were enemies.
"Darius..." Zorya stuttered his name, unable to form a sentence, or a question and ask him anything about the first wedding night, or even express insecurities about something like that. But Darius was first to answer the question she haven't even asked.
"I promise you that I will not lay my hand on your body without your permission to do so. I have no desire to force you to do something you find rather uncomfortable."
Zorya bite her lip feeling blood rush to her cheeks.
"But what if I want to?"
Darius twisted his lips into a smirk.
"You are a Queen now Zorya, you are allowed to do anything you wish." Darius replied, making Zorya shiver once again.
Just imagining his body pressing against her own, made her feel aroused, just reminding herself of the tension that raised on the battlefield when the two of them fought together, made her feel the sanity leaving her mind.
"I am all yours, my precious Queen." Darius whispered in her ear making her almost jump. He seemed simply amused by her reaction, and her crimson cheeks that she was trying to hide with her long hair.
"I am going to get a drink!" Zorya answered and left his presence.
Zorya enjoyed the liquid that made her feel slightly intoxicated, and warm, relaxing her body and mind, allowing it to embrace all the happiness that she was feeling. Soon she found herself dancing among the children, among servants and ordinary people ignoring the eyes of nobles that were judging her and disliking her behavior.
"Sarah, come and dance with us!" Zorya smiled.
"Oh no my queen, I don't think I should..." Sarah wasn't able to even finish her sentence when Zorya pulled her to dance, unable to understand the conservative mind of the people who remained still as the music played.
"This is unacceptable for a Queen."
"This is probably how pagan woman are."
"She will never be able to fit as a queen."
The voices whispered, unaware that in the castle of Darius, even the walls had ears, and that he will never allow such a rumors to surround the name of his queen.
'"Come on now people, you don't know how to have fun?" Jonah laughed at the nobles.
"The king ordered that those who doesn't dance with our queen will be thrown into the dungeon for the treason." Avram said.
"Is that true?" One of the nobles asked.
"Indeed it is true." Darius answered fighting his urge to chuckle at the silly ideas his brother had.
Zorya felt her vision slightly blurring after Sarah handed her another drink, this was a perfect time to celebrate, and she didn't hesitate to show her happiness to the rest of the kingdom. Before Zorya was able to bring the cup to her lips, Kreshnik jumped on her bringing her body to the ground.
Suddenly everything stopped, everyone screamed in fear when they saw Queen's wolf attacking her body.
"Kreshnik! What are you doing?!" Zorya asked.
Darius immediately run to Zorya, confused about what just happened. He always felt that Zorya is safe when Kreshnik was by her side, so this didn't seem right at all.
Before he could act, Kreshnik once again, found himself in front of Zorya growling at Sarah.
"What is happening? Please, calm down my friend..." Zorya said, feeling the panic building inside of her, what made her loyal friend to go against her.
"Zorya, we need to take him away from the castle..." Darius warned.
"No! Wait! It is not his fault! He just wanted to protect you!" One of the children yelled.
"What are you talking about child? This is not a place for a wild animal!" Sarah said trying to stop the children from speaking.
"I order you to let them speak Sarah." Zorya answered firmly and coldly to her scared maid.
"We saw Sarah pouring something in your drink, after she spoke to some people." The child replied.
Zorya felt anger boiling inside of her.
"My Queen..." Sarah tried speaking, but Zorya didn't allow her to do so.
"You are you going to say that they are wrong, and that you only want what is best for me, you are going to say exactly what I want to hear, aren't you?" Zorya asked.
"No. I am going to admit that I cannot allow a pagan to rule over our kingdom, you are not our queen, you will never be fit to be a queen, like our Queen Anna was. I wanted to do what is the best for our kingdom, and if that means taking away your life, then it is a small price." Sarah admitted, not wanting to lie, even if there was a hint of fear in her eyes.
Zorya immediately cursed herself for trusting her, but as much as she was searching for something evil in Sarah, she couldn't find it.
"Sarah, you will be arrested for the treason of the crown, despite many years you spent faithful to me and my family, what you did is unforgivable. You and those who dared to stand by your side in this crime shall be sentenced to death, and there will be no mercy. The attack on the Queen is also an attack on me." Darius firmly said before the guards walked over to Sarah and took her to the dungeon.
"Long live queen Anna." Sarah yelled as she was taken away by the guards. The silence fallen upon the people, and nobody dared to say anything else, frightened of the fate that awaits for those who offend the Queen.
"I may be the different from you, but yet I stand here with all my flaws, for you to see. But my maid Sarah seemed as a perfect human being to me, but I was wrong. That means that you should not be afraid of someone like me. You should be beyond afraid of those whose flaws you do not see. Those who are the best at hiding them, are the most dangerous." Zorya said to the people who were looking at her wondering what her next move will be after such a treason.
Darius placed his hand on her shoulder, and silently took her outside of the hall.
The feast was over in a silent, but Zorya's words echoed in the minds of everyone who were there.
