Goddess

Zorya came to the forest to greet it one last time as a pagan woman, bfore she takes a new religion upon herself, before she becomes someone else, and maybe even a stranger to the nature she loved so much. By her side stood Snezika, the white wolf whose fur reminded Zorya of snow and so she gave her a name that in her language had a meaning of snowflake, her belly was getting bigger every day, and Zorya was sure that in a month, she shall see the little wolves.

"Forgive me the Old Gods, and my ancestors for renouncing your name, but I must do so in the name of love. Please, forgive me for my words, and for my actions, forgive me if I ever sinned against you, while I called myself a pagan." Zorya said looking up at the sky.

"But I don't think I can forgive you, The Old Gods, you who call yourself omnipotent, and the divine as we mere mortals worship you so desperately. You have not hear my prayers from the distant lands and I doubt you hear me now. You have not protected me, you have not stood by my side. Kreshnik died for me, gave his life for me while you are immortal!" Zorya yelled into the sky as she felt the anger building inside of her.

"You are weak! You are cowards! You never be able to understand a bravery of a human being! So watch me renounce you! Watch me become a God like are! But I promise you that I am going to be the greatest ever!" Zorya yelled again into the sky, maybe that was something she needed to justify herself, maybe she needed to feel more powerful than the Old Gods, before she handles her heart to the Christianity.

"But you Mother Nature, shall remain one I respect and love the most, because you gave me the forest that is my sweet escape from the rest of the world, and I shall always remain faithful to you, even in Christianity." Zorya whispered before leaving the forest as the white wolf followed her.

Zorya's baptising was about to begin, and she did not want to be late for it. She put on the white dress and the crown on her head. She choose Mary, widow of general Joseph to be her godmother. After all, Mary was always nothing but kind to her, and Zorya admired her for being so strong woman, and mother of a two boys, after general passed away.

"It is time my Queen. Are you feeling alright?" Mary asked Zorya.

"Of course I am feeling fine Mary, thank you for your concern. I was just having the last conversation with my Gods that I am renouncing." Zorya answered.

"It must be hard for you to do this."

"No, not at all. I have already survived my cultural shock. Now I am just adjusting myself a bit more." Zorya answered.

"May I ask, why are you choosing to do this now My Queen?"

"I want to remain with my King and with my people, people of Walnia in death, just the way I remind with them in life." Zorya answered with a smile on her face. Of course, she learned to be less naïve after Sarah betrayed her, but she could feel that Mary is different, seeing her being so passionate in training to become a warrior, Zorya learned to cherish her friendship.

"And Walnia is grateful for having a Queen like you, and I am honored to be your godmother." Mary smiled.

"The honor is all mine Mary."

The two of them were soon escorted to the church where the people of Walnia awaited for the, together with their King, to welcome their Queen to the new religion

"My love, are you completely, utterly sure about this?' Darius asked Zorya again.

"Yes, Darius, I am sure about doing this." Zorya chuckled at the words of her husband, knowing that no matter what she does, she shall still have a pagan blood in her, it will be hard to eradicate something like that, but she will give her best.

"Then I am proud of my love." Darius whispered kissing her forehead, before the ceremony started.

The song of the priest did not seem so terrifying as before, as Zorya allowed herself to enjoy in it, everything just seemed different now, for some reason, she felt her eyes watering at the thought of giving her soul to the Christian God, for some reason, she felt that he was giving her heart peace, it didn't experience before, and Zorya felt happy.

The warm water was poured over her, presenting her to the new world, to the new religion, washing away everything that Christian considered to be sins.

And people cheered, contented that their Queen shall become one of them now, and they welcomed Queen Zorya in their hearts more than ever.

When the ceremony was over, Zorya was given a wooden cross to carry around her neck, that she accepted, instead of her kolovrat that was given to her by Yaropolk. That necklace was not a religious symbol for her anymore, it was only a memory of her fallen brother.

"How do you feel my Queen?" Mary asked her.

"Quite...Peaceful I would say." Zorya answered with a smile.

The children were laughing and dancing around the church, celebrating the name of their Queen.

"Looks like the little pagan decided to join our side." Jonah teased her along with Avram, those two simply never learn...

"Don't worry you two, I am still as dangerous as pagan is, and shouldn't you two be in the church confessing your sins?" Zorya asked.

"What sins?" Avram asked.

"You tried to spy the girls changing after the training."

The two of them suddenly blushed.

"Maybe we should try to practice our fighting on them." Mary said smiling at Jonah. The two of them seemed to be getting closer after general Joseph died. After all Mary was still young and a beautiful woman and she seemed to catch the attention iof the King's eldest brother.

"Oh I would love to see how much did you learn." Jonah teased.

Zorya laughed at them, when she suddenly felt the sharp pain in her belly, enough to make her whimper, as she felt her body crumbling down on her knees.

"My Queen!" Mary yelled as she stood helplessly by her side.

"Zorya!' Darius run to her direction leaded by his brother, he managed to pick Zorya's body in his arms.

"What is it?" Darius asked.

"It hurts..." Zorya whimpered as she wriggled in his arms feeling the pain that just wasn't going to stop no matter what she done.

"We need to take her to medic! Now!" Darius ordered.

"The carriage is already prepared for her brother! Let's hurry up!" Jonah said.

"Hold on my love, you are going to be fine." Darius whispered to Zorya before carrying her to the carriage, the white she-wolf, never leaving her side, because maybe, she, the one who will become a mother soon, felt Zorya's condition sooner than anyone else...

As soon as Zorya as examined by the doctors, and they understood her contidion, she was given a proper medications to stop the pain she was feeling in her body.

"What is it?" Darius, who haven't left the side of his Queen asked with a worried voice.

"My King, there is no place for worry, I must announce you that soon, you shall become a father, because our Queen is pregnant." One of the doctors said and Zorya looked at him suprised by the news she heard.

"I am...Pregnant?" Zorya asked

"That is right my Queen, soon, you shall become a mother." The doctor smiled.

Zorya felt her hands tremble with excitement, she felt her heart getting warm, after finding out that she was carrying a child under her heart.

"Darius, we are going to become parents." Zorya said again, smiling as she saw a tear excape from the eye of her husband for the first time in her life, and she didn't doubt that it was a happy tear.

"I love you my Queen, with all my heart." Darius whispered kissing her belly and warping his arms around her.

The doctor left the two the lovers alone in the room, to announce to the people that their Queen was safe, but they left the happy news to the husband and wife to announce when the time for it comes.

Maybe becoming a mother, is what becoming a goddess is.
