Chapter 1
I never wanted this to happen. I mean who asks to be a demigod? NO ONE! Unless you
have some kind of death wish, sure, why not, be a Half-blood.
I'm Reyen Andrews, and as you're reading this and it feels familiar. Put. The. Book.
Down. That's all I gotta say. I mean, if it doesn't and you just think this is a fun story you found on the internet then keep reading! This is completely fiction.
See I had no idea I was a demigod. Sure I had read about Percy Jackson, became
obsessed with Greek mythology, bought a Camp Half-Blood t-shirt that said "daughter of Apollo" on the back (yes it's orange and I'm about due for a new one) sorry I'm getting off-topic, I have ADHD I can't help it. Anyway, as I was saying I had no idea I was an actual half-blood.
It all started when my friend Dillon Woodrow and I were suffering through math class
when Mrs. Howards (my ELA teacher) asked to borrow me. I assumed it was about some test I took or about getting my grade up, but nope She led me to her classroom, and the next thing I know I'm on the floor. On top of me was a slick, raven black, panther with a beautiful glossy coat. "You thought you could hide from me half-blood?" I looked down at my shirt. "Oh, no-no-no-no. I just do this for fun-" The panther growled then dug its claws into my shoulder blades.
I screamed, yelling, "WHAT THE HECK!" I shout. "Look lady, I'm not a Half-blood, I'm
a normal human being. Half-Bloods aren't real.-" I cut myself off, "But you turned into a cat thing so-" "Ray! Think fast!" I turned my head to the source of the voice "Dillon?"
He slid a glowstick to me from across the floor. The panther turned its head glaring at
Dillon. "A tasty goat!" I gripped the glowstick and it turned into a knife, stabbing it into its gut. "Take that!" the Panther hissed then turned to dust. I was breathing heavily. "Dillon..." I panted. "What was that?" I looked over to where he was standing but found he wasn't there. "Dillon? Where'd you go?" I looked down at my hand I was holding a yellow glowstick. I gave up trying to make sense of what happened and went back to class.
As I was walking back I began to feel the throbbing pain in my shoulder. I looked over
and remembered I was bleeding out. When I got back to my math class I was beginning to see spots. "Ms. Johnson?" I ask when I walk in. "I think I need to see the nurse." Then my eyes rolled to the back of my head and I blacked out.
When I woke up I was at home, Dillon was packing one of my backpacks full of clothes,
food, and other stuff. "W-what? Dillon, what are you doing in my room?" My friend continued to pack the bag when he responded. "No time to explain. Need to leave."
"How'd I even-"
"Your dad got you from school."
"How long-"
"Thirty minutes or so. Not too long."
"What happened exactly?"
Dillon Paused turned and looked at me. "Ray. Remember when I got you into Percy Jackson?"
"Yeah?" I had an idea where this was leading and I didn't like it. "I'm your protector. Your a half-blood, Ray." I felt myself stutter. "Wh-what?" I rested my head on my forehead. "As cool as that is-" My voice broke. "But I'm just a nobody..." I closed my eyes trying to make sense of it all I opened my eyes again. "I know this is hard to understand, but we gotta get to camp. I nod taking a breath. "Ok." I look at Dillon determined. "Let's go, I'll figure this out later." "Good idea."
I jumped out of bed catching the backpack Dillon threw to me. I gave my room one last glance then we left getting into my Dad's 2017 Dodge Journey. "Camp Half-Blood," I say under my breath. "Here I come.
