Chapter Twenty-Two
Eliza
Tears running down my cheeks, I knew this couldn't last forever but I needed a break. Landon was playing with my heart, and it hurt.
Bubbles surrounding me, I stuff my mouth with air. Diving up, I swerve water out of my way, slowly diving up into the air. A rush of wind blew at me, tucking my legs in, like I was doing a cannonball. Flying through the air like a dolphin. This was one of the first things I learned when I came to the oceans. Whenever I feel loved and my problems are solved, I escape and I try to hide. I'm scared of it, at the same time I crave it.
I knew where I was going. I wasn't proud of it but if I had to go undercover then this is what I need to do. "Welcome, Agent Keable." I shook Agent Mathew Williams hand. He was the head leader of O.W.L. Operations, War, Logistics. "We're glad you decided to join. Finally came to your senses." He grinned, "No, but I've had time. Life has had its turn on me." I answered sternly.
My eyes narrowed at every person walking past us. "In here you will train. Day and night, until you're ready." As he turned left into a large gun range. "Guns are at every station and ammo is on the self under." I scanned the area. There were at least 20 targets for 20 people.
"Over here....." he said, guiding me out straight down the corridor and down to the right is the physical strength training course. "Here you build your strength, over there we having a fighting game every week. Picked randomly. There are ropes, ladders and weights. And finally." He began walking out of the course before I could finish having a look but I have time. There were a few people in there staring at me with deadly eyes.
"We have the natural strengths course. We have enhancing swimming abilities, strategizing and coding. Adrenaline enhancers are here. Sky diving and surviving a explosion. Everything you'll need for a mission. For now you train. You've already walked past the cafeteria. You choose what you need to work on." He explained, "I don't think I'll need the swimming lessons." I glare at the pool of water, "What about breathing underwater?" He squinted his eyes slightly. "For as long as I'm alive." Grinning I turn to the pool of water, stepping closer to it.
A person comes out, "10 minutes and 49 seconds, my new record." The man grinned, his chocolate brown hair cascading across his head. "I've held longer." I rolled my eyes, for a second I saw a bit of a glint of aqua in the guy's eyes. The colour quickly faded away into a brown. "Anyways, how are you doing Lee?" Mathew asked, "I'm very much fine, until this young lady entered my lair." He smiled, I glared at him for a second.
Standing still, I can see he's stronger then others. "I challenge you, to a underwater breathing challenge." I smirked, his eyes fluttered in confusion. "Well, I've only just met, didn't we?" "Agent Parsons, this is Agent Keable, one of our newest Agents." Lee took his hand out for me to shake, I stood there rejecting the handshake.
"This ones a tough one." He chuckled, "I accept your duel. Don't be crying when you lo-" diving in I was ready to beat this nunchuck bitch. I watched as he pressed the start button on the timer, I grinned.
Here we go. I didn't usually stay in water for a long period of time but I could. I was taught to. I turn to him, grinning. Lee tiled his head sideways, confused. "Time to beat your ass." I mumbled, his eyes turning wide, I kick him in the chest, a few air bubbles coming out of his mouth. I've got you now, I thought. Quickly, diving away from his attack. Stabbing him with my feet at his right ribs. A few more air bubbles came out. He was a fighter. It's already been a few minutes in the pool. I wasn't use to the chemicals but I was managing. I kept swinging at him, until a red bruise swelled up. Reaching up for air and breathing heavily. "6 minutes and 16 seconds." Mathew chuckled, "I knew I made the right choice." "Nice fight, Keable. Wish I knew how you did it." Lee stumbled, still in shock, "Might wanna teach me how you do it." "I'll leave you two to finish what you're doing. I've got other things to finish." Williams speed walked out of the area.
"My secrets aren't yours. They're mine to keep and to share." I said, staring back at the water. "Wise words from a wise woman. What made you join?" He inches closer to me at the edge of the pool. "That's non of your business, Agent Lee." I uttered, biting my tongue. "Mind if I invite you to have a little meal?" He questioned, "I do mind." I hissed, "Are you flirting with me, Agent?" I glared at him, "Just temporarily. I'm not very good at it." He answered, "if you're not good at it, you shouldn't try it." I stood up, walking back over to the physical strength range.
"I'll take that as a yes!" He joked, "I don't take laughter well." I say, my knuckles turning white. "It's a joke." He said, telling me to relax, "Jokes are for the weak minded. Keep your opinions to yourself." I stabbed my pointer finger into his chest. "If you want a chance to utter another word to me again, you better shut your mouth and train your ass off." I spat. "I won't leave you alone till you have a chat with me over a table." "If you can't sweat the feeling of rejection off, you shouldn't even be here."
