Chapter Twenty-Eight

Landon

Before I could finish your sentence, a large envelope fell on my head. I'm sure you heard the first part of my sentence many times before, I don't blame you if you're getting triggered, I'm getting triggered too. "What the hell is that?" Eliza screamed, her hands swiftly taking the paper and tearing it open.

"Another hologram..." she mumbled, "Ow!?" I yelped, "Hello? I'm hurt?" "Sorry, Landon. I'm sure you only have a minor concussion, nothing too serious." She explained, waiting for the blue glass to light up.

"Good job, Agents. I'm glad you met my expectations. Once you come back to O.W.L please come to my office and we'll discuss a few things, I expect you to come before midnight, don't be late." A vivid image of Mathew faded and I shoved the glass back into its delicate, damaged paper envelope. "Nice, bye." I waved, laughing half way through.

"It's about 8:30 pm." I look to Eliza, staring at the sky with her beautiful, blue, radiant eyes. Somehow she was able to read time by looking at the sky, I don't know how, it doesn't make sense to me but maybe I'll learn it one day. "How do you do that?" I ask, "How do I do what?" She asked back, "Like, reading the time without anything." "It's a basic survival trick and skill. I'll teach you it one day, but I don't think it'll be today." She answered, "I wish, your tutoring was quite something." I chuckled as she elbowed me.

"Don't get your mind somewhere else, Landon. You're capable of a lot more then I've taught you. You got talent and strength and power and....." "and?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow. "N-Nothing." She stuttered, "First time you're stuttering." I teased, a light pink showing at her cheeks.

I can see her face leaning closer to mine, trying not to crack a sound. The waves were still crashing on the sandy shore, with the sun lower then before. There was still a bit of light left showing. "Don't move." I whispered softly. Our foreheads touching each other's as I feel her damp hair on my hand. My heart was racing again for no reason, there was something about it. Maybe I needed it fixed or maybe I'm just triggering it somehow. "I want to move really badly right now." Eliza clenched her teeth, her teeth biting her bottom red lip slightly. "Sorry....." I apologize, pressing my lips to hers, I got a high feeling. My heart bursting out. I could still hear the waves crashing down on the shore, it was like music to my ears. Her soft lips felt gentle as I still felt her lips. She wouldn't moving, I thought. Until I felt her hand on my chest, near my heart. "You can stop now." I uttered into her ear, her mouth curved into a smile.

"Some things aren't meant to be stopped, Landon." She said, I tilt my head off to the side, wondering what she was talking about. "Like what?" My voice slurring, "It's nothing you need to know." I smirked, "What if I wanna know?" "Well, you better be patient." Eliza sat back down on the sand, her hands drawing a smiley face on the ground. "Let's get back to O.W.L."

* * * * *

"I'm glad you two got back in time. I have a few things to explain to you and to tell you." Mathew said, turning his head to Eliza then to me.

"First, I want to say that I'm happy that you didn't die. Most Agents I send out fail at their first mission?" He says, "So? Why send them out if they suck?" His eyes darted to me, "Because, those are the douchebag shits of O.W.L. We need better Agents for better and much more needed things. Since I saw Agent Keable's great ability to handle water, this test was to test her more. You made it and that's what matters. Now, where's the stone?"

"'It's in my pocket," I reach in and touch the glowing rock, placing it on the desk. "Nice work, Agent. Now, second, you need to get the hell out of here and get the stone to safety, I trust you, don't fail me." The man said, telling us to go run along. Well, I guess we're doing that. We have nothing else to do right now anyways. I take the gemstone and put it back in my pants pocket.

My parents house wasn't very far away from here, surprisingly. It's a bit to the west. So when I was able to see the sky again already, I didn't feel prepared. My parents were bound to give me a lecture, a long one. And once they see Eliza with me, they're gonna think she's my next fling. At least that's what they call it. I don't even have flings, they just assume that I do that kind of stuff. It's kind of dumb how the make assumptions about me but it's too late and before I know it, I'm back.

Clicking the doorbell about 4 times before the door swung open and rapidly, again. I felt like I was getting déjà vous but I think it's just me. "Landon, you son of a-" "Brant, no swearing in front of kids." My mom glared at us before turning to my dad. "Where have you been!" The old man rambled, slamming his hands into the table. "Who's this young lady you've brought with you?" My mom asked, "This is Eliza, she's my-" "I'm Landon's girlfriend, nice to meet you." Their hands shook, I was still trying to get over the fact that Eliza just called herself my girlfriend.

"A girlfriend?" My mom giggles along with my dad, "It's always nice to have company, why don't you two rest? You look very tired." My mom suggested, "Carol, they can do whatever they please." My dad assured her, "I think we'll take a nap." I said, ushering Eliza up the stairs to my room. "If that's what you-" Slamming the door I blush from all my posters on the walls.

"Looks like someone is fangirl-ing hard." She teased, "They're old posters from 7 years ago, don't think of anything weird of me." I laugh and cough at the same time, making my throat dry.

"I wonder what your friends think of you, you know, back at school?" She said, "It's the spring break, my friends ditched me on the last day of school before it for their girlfriends. I don't expect anything other that that, though. They are shit heads." I exclaimed, "Well, aren't you going back to school in a few days or so?" She nudged me, "Yeah but like, I have dreams of other stuff, I have a lot of things to take care of now." "Well?" She asked, shrugging her shoulders. "I was planning on going to collage. Just a local one or not. I already have a lot going on in life right now. I'll probably stay at O.W.L." Her head bobbed while closing her eyes, understanding what I was doing. "I'll be here with you." Right as her hands started trembling out to touch me, a loud scream ran through my head, coming up from downstairs.

I heard some shuffling and talking as I ran down the stairs like a kid. "Landon! There you are, you lover boy." When I heard those words I knew almost instantly who that was. "George? What are you doing here?" Eliza asked from a few steps above me. "Just giving you a visit, can't believe you two went dilly dallying without us." He grunted, a few snorts and chuckles were heard from behind him.

Adalicia, Georgia, Jada and Jason stood staring at his with their eyes. "This isn't a house party." I facepalmed, "In sure they can stay in the extra rooms for today." My mom said, leading them up the stairs.

Back up again! I thought. Eliza just looked to me for advice, I just shook my head. "I'll sleep with you for tonight." She finally spoke a word, "Sure....." we both trembled up the stairs and back to my room. "At least we know they're alive." She told me, "Yeah, I haven't made this many friends in a week since my first day of high school." I smirked, I could see that Eliza was trying to hold back a smile, her lips couldn't keep it up any longer and she smiled. She smiled brighter then before and it's another time I saw her happy.

Gingerly, I place the Chaos stone in the third drawer of my bedside table. I rested my head on my soft, fluffy pillow and so did Eliza. Her head instead resting on my chest as her eyes started to flutter shut.

Her red hair seeming abnormal in my plain coloured bed. She stood out just by how she is, she felt special to me, I hope she knows that one day. But I won't tell her yet. It was getting late and the noise slowly started to dial down.

I lay there for about 10 minutes before I yawned again. Lightly, I graze Eliza's cheek and as I do so I finally drift off to sleep. I was finally earning my streak of good nights rests again.

Next morning..........

Yet again I wake up, Eliza was still sleeping fast astound beside me. I stretch my arms and legs apart like a cat jumping. Yawning once again before I got my lazy ass up from the bed.

The house was still quiet so I assumed that everyone was still asleep. My alarm didn't ring either but I looked at it and the time read 8:09 am, my parents should be awake by now. If they aren't then they're surprising me a lot, what a great start to the day.

Once I notice the carpets edge is folded in I was confused, what happened? I assumed it was my mom checking in on me to see if I fell asleep yet but she doesn't do that a lot nowadays.

My door was left ajar even though I remember it fully closed, I've changed locks multiple times for my door because most of them broke on me. It was a pain in the butt, so this door shouldn't have been open.

My heart rate was sky rocketing.

Please don't be true, I prayed. My hand was shaking and trembling. And when I finally touched the handle and pulled my drawer open..... the stone was gone.

There was a small dust pile left where the chaos stone was. "Eliza." My eyes starting to tear up, pushing on Eliza's arm harshly. "Landon? What happened? Are you okay?" She asked with a worried face, "The stone, Eliza. It's gone." Once she was able to process my words her face went white. It looked like she was about to faint.

"We have to get to the bottom of this." I said, "And we will get to the bottom of it. We won't stop till we do."

This whole book took me awhile to actually write and edit but All my hard work will go to waste. Ain't no one gonna read this. I should stop, Hope y'all love my positivity.
